Mega Man Xtreme 1 And 2 Coming To 3DS Virtual Console In The West

By Ishaan . July 18, 2013 . 5:35pm

More Mega Man games are headed to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console. A while ago, Capcom released Mega Man: Dr. Wily’s Revenge for Game Boy for the service, and this afternoon they announced that its sequels are headed to the West, too.

That’s Mega Man II, III, IV and V, all for the original Game Boy. Additionally, Mega Man’s Game Boy Color games will be released as well, in the form of Mega Man Xtreme 1 and 2. Both of these titles remix aspects of the SNES Mega Man games, and Extreme 2 even lets you play as Zero.

Capcom say they’ll announce specific release dates for these games in the future.

never heard of this game, until now…

    • NightzeroAX

      Its a great game IMO.

    • Haseyo

Don’t feel bad, neither have I.

  • NightzeroAX

    Megaman V and Xtreme 1-2. I need to get a 3DS :/

    • Tyler Beale

      Kingdom Hearts DDD.
      Fire Emblem.
      Super Mario.
      A bunch of other things.

      • RisukuAozora

One of those titles I could live without. But damn, 3DS has really damn good titles for it. If only they did GBA VC too.

  • AlteisenX

This is cool, but still doesn’t interest me, Capcom.
    Try again.

  • Enzo

Haven’t heard of this game, so I looked up the gameplay. I definitely would like to get it after seeing it.

  • Tales_of_Master

2 games added to the list of “games I’m getting with the free 30$ in my account”.

    • Surgeon of Death

  • HerosLight

Thought it was a re-make for a sec ’til it said 3DS Virtual Console. But hey, thats nice, never played them before.

  • Jesse

Oh good, I could never find the first Xtreame game anywhere.

  • Jonathan Tse

oh wow, i remember playing 1 and 2 on those 32-in-one GBC carts. awesome to hear they’re coming over here on 3DS.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

Gonna ask this here… but was Sven the one who knew the Mega Man 9 secret? Did we ever find out what it was?
Xtreme was like my first X game. It was pretty damn good for a portable MMX. I never got to play Xtreme 2 (I didn’t even own these games). So seeing them on the 3DS VC is pretty cool. I would love to play them again.
edit: btw Ishaan, it’s Xtreme 2! Not Extreme 2. Although you got it right the first time haha. How many articles at a time are you working on? lol

    • That was Seth, not Sven. I don’t think he ever mentioned what it was.

      • MrSirFeatherFang

Seth? But he left already! lol
        We’ll never find out… someone should’ve asked at EVO…
I bet you know what the secret is :D

        • I honestly have no idea, haha. But you could always ask Seth over Twitter, although he’s said he won’t tell until someone discovers it for themselves. :P

          Here’s his Twitter:

          • MrSirFeatherFang

alright… I’ll straight up ask him right now. Thanks!

  • Surgeon of Death

Great there goes my $30. Now, we are gonna need some battle network games.

    • MrSirFeatherFang

There are no GBA games on the eShop, right? Well except for those Ambassador people who got to chose a select few?
If they did that… it would be cool if they could get the multiplayer to work somehow…

      • Rogerrmark

That would be so cooool. I still have to play all the BN series…Nintendo needs to release gba games on 3DS eshop soon. And by that,I mean both Fire Emblems,Golden Suns and a lot of other good titles.

  • FetusZero

I’m still proud of owning the original Xtreme 1 & 2, took me quite a while to get my hands on them back then.

  • 3DS became a Mega Man Machine.

Gotta get MMV on GB first.

    • zeta

all it needs is Megaman Legends 3 back and I shall marry my 3DS afterwards.

  • Leon_Tekashi

Ah..I see what Capcom is doing. ;) They’re trying to bring back their Mega Man fans by bringing back the classic games. Heh. Keep it up Capcom. You got my support. As long as you guys make a new mega man game in the end of all of this. =) *thumbs up*

  • ryne11

How about the Legends1/2/Tron Bonne too? I will even do a no VO mode

    • Haseyo

They have Legends 1 / 2 for PSP in Japan.

      • ryne11

        I want it for ‘Merica!

        • Haseyo

As do I. No way I’m paying $100+ for Legends 2 on eBay. Series ain’t THAT worth it.

  • Just Tim

I’ve never been this hyped for anything Mega Man X related, since Project X Zone, MvC3, and this fanmade video.

  • Letiumtide

Mega Man V is the best on the original Gameboy.

  • ZEROthefirst

I hope we can set buttons in these versions. I remember how much I hated trying to dash when playing on the Gameboy Color. It was either the standard double tap the D-pad in one direction oooorrrrrrrrrr set dash to the Select Button lol. If you can imagine playing this game on a gameboy color and trying to use the d-pad and reach the select button at the same time, it makes for a good show.

The only reason I was glad about emulators for once since I could map any button to any key/controller button. Still probably buy this again though… even though I still have my original copies of the games/boxes and on my PC for nicer controls.

  • Go2hell66

What do i have to do to get capcom to release the megaman zero and megaman battle network games on 3DS

    • Rasputing

They did release a Zero collection on the DS.

  • Zero_Destiny

Holy Cow! Megaman Xtreme, that’s my childhood right there. Lots of memories, totally will have to pick them up. Man, 3DS eShop has been hit with so much nostalgia for me lately, these games, and just earlier we had Zelda Oracle games. It’s like I’m reliving my elementary school bus rides all over again.

  • hahaha, dammit, and here I just literally bought Mega Man Xtreme 2 (cart only) off ebay last week…. for $25…. and even searched my entire house for my currently misplaced GBA SP to play it until I eventually succumbed to using my ugly old GBC instead… *kicks self*

  • Rytan

Oops. I shouldn’t have picked up Shantae: Risky’s Revenge and Picdun 2, I guess.

  • Any idea how much they cost?

  • Hairee Pothead

    Inferior downports! Blah!!
