    • Wait what

Considering the team making this movie is the same team that ruined Devil Survivor 2 and Persona 4, I’m petty sure everyone is going to be disappointed…

      • Zonder88

Except Persona 4 anime was one of the most faithful anime adaptation of a game I’ve ever seen, and it was amazing. So GTFO.

        • Wait what

Except no it wasn’t for all the reasons I just gave in another post here.

“None of the characters were adapted right, they added goofy humor to what the serious scenes were supposed to be (I actually cringed during the Naoto Shadow portion in the anime), and the overall production quality was atrocious. Also let’s make all the characters offensively homophobic because why not?”

That’s not even getting into the pacing issues, the unfunny extra humor, and how they just didn’t understand the characters.

          • bassgs435

so Persona 4 suffered the same fate as DeSu2, man that makes me pessimistic for the movies

          • Saphira

I wouldn’t say the same fate since P4 was at least pretty faithful story-wise unlike DeSu2. Though I admit, the ending was quite rushed… <_< Other complaints I've seen from people is the quality of animation… but IDK, I think they just have high standards… but that's just me (I don't watch anime much anymore since DBZ era) XD

          • Steven Higgins

I didn’t really see that at all. I mean the age acceleration seemed like the perfect way to show the effects of Old One or other Enervation-inducing attacks, and Rise had a thing for the Protag since the beginning, while the other girls developed it gradually so her still liking him as an old man makes since. Other than that I didn’t see anything funny in that fight, and the fights are really the only serious part of any arc. As for the characters being offensively homophobic, the only one I saw that with was Yousuke, which is exactly how he was in the game. The others where unsure how to act around him, but i didn’t see that as being offensive. To me, the characters seemed to be adapted very faithfully.

          • Wait what

There are plenty of serious moments in the game outside of the “fights”. Adding goofy humor to any of them is just ruining the tone of the original. Not to mention the humor in the game is significantly better than the humor in the anime.

As for everyone telling me that the anime isn’t any more homophobic than the game, I’ll let someone else explain it because I’m just going to get downvoted no matter what I do so why waste the effort:
            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2Pd7UaihJk

He gets into comparing the way it’s handled in the game and the anime towards the end.

          • supervamp

It wasn’t homophobic in the game nor was it homophobic in the anime.
If your going off just because the characters were uncomfortable or more so the male ones then you need a more convincing case.

          • Wait what

Not in the game, no, but most certainly it was in the anime. See my other recent reply for more details. But obviously that’s not the “case” I was making. The homophobia in the anime was only one of my many problems with it.

          • Steven Higgins

Funny how he completely left out the fact the Kanji’s Shadow makes several unwanted advances on the male characters while completely ignoring them females unless he’s insulting them. I’d be pissed too and I’m actually gay.

          • Wait what

That’s not what caused any of the homophobic things in the anime, though. Before the characters even enter Kanji’s dungeon and see him they are completely disgusted by the very idea of there being gayness around them. Chie attacks Kanji’s Shadow for making a homosexual comment, not because he insulted her. And it’s all played for laughs. The joke is that “they are creeped out by the gay stuff”. That’s not the way ANY of it came across in the game, but it is most certainly how the scene was adapted in the anime.

          • Steven Higgins

They were uncomfortable before entering the dungeon in the game too. Even the ever-graceful Yukiko seemed reluctant to enter, double checking with Teddie to make sure that’s were he was. It was still there, just more subtle.
Just watched the scene. It was more the way he was moving then what he said. All he said was that the steam was pumping his blood up. but he never went one word without flexing. The majority of Japanese girls, specifically the adolescents, tend to think big, muscular guys are gross anyway.

Anyway, I feel like we’re getting away from the first point. I felt it was a very faithful adaptation, just a little rushed because they wanted a 25 episode run.

          • Testsubject909

            Out of curiosity.

How does it feel to have people speaking up for you and being offended for you despite your own personal views?

          • Wait what

Excuse me? Did I ever say that I was speaking for a group of people? I wasn’t speaking up for Steven Higgins. I found the homophobia offensive and when I complain about it, it’s speaking for me and me alone. Just like when I complain about all the other terrible things in the Persona 4 anime. Can you please keep the argument to what it’s actually about instead of attempting to change it to something completely irrelevant?

          • Steven Higgins

I think they’re taking things way to seriously. It’s all fictional. it’s not like the stories you hear on the news about gays being beaten in the streets. Personally I think more heterosexuals are offended by the perceived homophobia then homosexuals.

          • Brian Woods

I didn’t find it any more homophobic than the game itself. As no one in the anime hooks up, and only you hook up in the game (if you want to), I felt that any of the characters could be straight or gay.

            …except Teddy.

…although it wouldn’t surprise me if Teddy grew himself a woman body so he could be a lesbian.

        • M’iau M’iaut

We can share our personal views without the added comment. Thanks.

        • shafiq95

i wouldnt say fateful though since they cut out a lot of stuff in the game

      • supervamp

This person is pretty silly persona 4′s adaption followed the story exactly while devil survivor 2 was the one that went on a left field when it came to the story, but not even that was bad if you’ve never played the game.

        • Wait what

The basic plot is not all it takes to make a good adaptation. You can follow the story exactly all you want, but if you are adding dumb comedy into serious scenes and getting the characters and pacing completely wrong then you’ve still failed.

          • supervamp

Sorry but the comedy worked it and it made the characters even more likable then they were in the funnier and it also made scenes a lot more funnier then they were in the game

But of course. The MC of P3 would have the copyrights over his own life story!

At least for another 50 years..

      • Testsubject909

Just a few more years and Back to the Future will be up for grabs to anyone.

  • Go2hell66

Yea looking good, but i’m still quite the animation whore especially after watching Shingeki no Kyojin, i wanted the movie to look better than this :p

    • Testsubject909

Just wait for the eventual Shingeki no Person… a wait.

honestly i’d be more suprised if there wasn’t one :p

    • Lynx

      What?
At least this doesn’t look to be using stills.
      BANG.

You can’t really compare them either. They both have their own styles.

    • DyLaN

Its always those same animation whining I see everywhere…..

Still, I can forgive them pulling a “2 Chie” again. It was amusing when it happened.

      • supervamp

Honestly i wasn’t sure if this was the same studio because of how polished it looked

  • Eileen Sy

I wish the FeMC would appear, too…

    • Saphira

      THIS >///<
Even just a random cameo would do XD

    • Pyrofrost

      She’s not canon.

      • Testsubject909

She was planned to be, though I have no idea how early the idea was tossed aside because of time or whatnot.

If you check the art book, you get to see some very early drafts of FeMC in the pre-production stage I’d imagine.

        • 07thCrow

That’s what I heard as well. I think it was during an early interview when P3P was first being announced that the creators said FeMC was the original protagonist; like Maya in Eternal Punishment. I think they scrapped it somewhere after the story was finished, but early in the game development, thinking that a male protagonist would be received by players better, and then afterwards there just wasn’t enough time to do a “choose your gender” option that they later incorporated in P3P.

          • Testsubject909

I’m just amused people are downvoting anyone who goes “FeMC exists”

      • Wait what

Who told you that? The backbone of the entire Megami Tensei franchise is that there are parallel universes where things happened differently. Did you never play any of the mainline SMT series or, hell, Persona 2? FeMC is as canon as Male MC who is as canon as anyone else’s MC since every playthrough of the game is canon. Alternate universes, man.

        • MasterScrub

As far as the current timeline is concerned, Male MC is canon since they allude to him in Persona 4, and he’s very much blatantly the reasoning behind Elizabeth’s actions in Persona 4 Arena.

          • Wait what

There isn’t one timeline, though. They’re all equally canon. What Persona 4 and Persona 4 Arena address do not make P3P non-canon because neither the franchise at large nor the Persona series have ever had just one timeline. The fact that I’m getting downvotes is puzzling.

          • Eileen Sy

If it’s any consolation, I agree with you.
            Alternate universes FTW everybody’s happy.

          • Tienron

there maybe different timelines still dons;t mean it’s canon

          • Sardorim

There’s main canon and sub canon due to the multiiverse. The MAIN canon, that will be referenced in other games, will follow Male MU with Yukari as his lover.

          • Tienron

I don’t think yukari was his lover, lol i think she loved him more like.

also….. is sub canon even an official word cause i don’t remember it being one. there is only canon and non canon the female’s story line is non- canon it’s as simple as that, but if we’re lucky we may get to see her cameo in it.

          • https://www.facebook.com/OperationHotblood?ref=hl HeroOfGames16

Didn’t you went all every-alternate-route-is-canon some months before? And sure, they’re “canon”, but they’re not the canon which Atlus uses. And for most people who care about the franchise, all that matters to them is the canon universe / timeline which Atlus uses.

          • Wait what

There isn’t more than one canon, Atlus follows the canon of multiple universes. Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable FeMC route BOTH happened, they are BOTH equally canon. They aren’t different canons. Just because a direct sequel decides to pick one of the endings or routes a game had to follow up on doesn’t mean that one is any more canon than the others. If I had this argument months ago it’s only because it’s true. They wouldn’t stress all their multiple universes thing so strongly in their games if it wasn’t. It’s a major element of the mainline SMT series, Persona 2, Devil Summoner Raidou, and so on. The entire theme of Persona 3 Portable having a female route is to play up the “butterfly effect”, as the opening points out. They wouldn’t have introduced the concept if they were going to then say “but it’s not real because this other one is the TRUE canon we’re going to follow”. All the games happen, all the routes happen, just not in the same universe. Persona 4 Arena may take place in a universe where Male MC was the protagonist, but within the same canon there is a universe where FeMC is there instead. That’s a MAJOR aspect of this franchise and it’s lore, so it’s really baffling me that people are downvoting me and arguing this. At least my other posts in this thread are being downvoted and argued against because people think I’m being unfair to the P4 Anime, but this is just a straight up fact about the franchise, like what the hell…

          • https://www.facebook.com/OperationHotblood?ref=hl HeroOfGames16

That’s like saying Pokemon Gold & Silver takes place in a universe where a guy called Red was the previous protagonist (Red&Blue), but “within the same canon” there is a universe where he’s called Dave instead.
The female option was just a female option. They needed to add something to it, since they had already re-released the game as P3 FES before.
And even then, what does it matter? Atlus has decided to work with the universe in which P3′s protagonist is a young man and the P4 protagonist’s name is Yu Narukami. Unless the female P3 protagonist has influenced the universe Atlus is currently using for its future Persona games, unless she appears in it or plays some sort role in it, your words are hollow.

          • Wait what

No, it’s not like that at all. Because there being endless amounts of parallel universes is a KEY ELEMENT of the SMT franchise and is addressed within the Persona sub-series. You guys are being straight up ridiculous. I don’t see how this is that hard to get, did none of you play anything beyond P3 and P4?

          • ChiffonCake

I’ll have to agree with Wait What here, and reccomend that some of you look up the Other Side, Akarana Corridor, Labyrinth of Amala, etc.

I dunno why they chose to go with the male protag for the movie, but “he’s canon” is a really silly reason.

          • XiaomuArisu

            Easy there Aiegis
Lets say there is the MC timeline and the FMC timeline.
They using the MC timeline because its part of P4 and P4A.You have to wait for P6 for a contuniation of the FMC timeline

          • Wait what

P6? I seriously doubt a numbered Persona game will deal with the plot of P3. I think some of you guys are missing the point. It’s not really that there are multiple “timelines” as it is that the entire series is built on a foundation of parallel universes where details are different, so saying FMC is “non-canon” because she isn’t mentioned in P4 Arena is ignoring one of the basic elements of the franchise and is just incorrect.

          • https://www.facebook.com/OperationHotblood?ref=hl HeroOfGames16

So a universe in which Yu Narukami is actually called David Richardson is as canon as the universe in which Yu is called Yu Narukami?

          • Wait what

Yes, because when you played Persona 4 he probably wasn’t called Yu Narukami. Just because they gave him a name in P4 Arena doesn’t mean that every playthrough where he wasn’t called that is suddenly non-canon. There is a universe where he dated Rise, there is a universe where he dated Yukiko, and so on. Again, play Devil Summoner, Raidou visits a parallel universe where he is called Raido. But, really, the name thing is silly to get caught up on because it doesn’t really matter. An entirely different character existing though, that most definitely DOES matter.

          • https://www.facebook.com/OperationHotblood?ref=hl HeroOfGames16

Then give me sources, give me links, give me any sort of evidence aside of your banter that suggests that alternate universe of Female MC is as canon as the dominant, currently used by ATLUS, universe where Male MC lives.

Also, IIRC, Persona isn’t really a part of the SMT franchise. It just got the SMT title on top of it to make it sell more. SMT and Persona are basically Pokemon and Digimon to each other, but the only thing they have in common is that they use similar spells and demons/Persona.

          • Wait what

I’m sorry but you clearly don’t know what you are talking about. I already gave you sources, the games themselves. Play Persona 2, the mainline SMT games, or Devil Summoner Raidou. There was NEVER just one set canon that Atlus followed, even within the Persona series the concept of parallel universes is a major thing.

And Persona is SMT, people who tell you otherwise are being either elitist or stupid. Persona, just like Devil Summoner, Devil Survivor, Digital Devil Saga, etc. is a SPIN-OFF of SMT. It’s not called SMT in Japan, but it’s the same franchise because it’s a spin-off. Comparing it to Pokemon and Digimon proves you have no idea what you are talking about. Just go a quick wikipedia search before you argue with someone about this, come on.

          • https://www.facebook.com/OperationHotblood?ref=hl HeroOfGames16

I dunno, but neither an avatar of YHVH or Lucifer as a demon has appeared in any of the Persona games. Just because it’s a spin-off doesn’t indicate it’s part of the SMT multiverse. The other spin-offs do play a part in the SMT universe because for example Raidou time-travelled to one of the main SMT events and Lucifer appeared in the Devil Survivor games.

Also, don’t forget the implications it COULD have if it WERE part of the multiverse. The destruction of the Amala Network. It would make all of the actions of the Persona heroes meaningless.

You claim that all SMT universes (and thus endings) are canon, meaning that both the destruction and preservation of the Amala Network occured. Don’t you see how contradictive that sounds?

          • Wait what

The events of Nocturne wouldn’t have any affect on any of the universes outside of Nocturne. I really have no idea what you are going on about in regards to that. Do you not understand how parallel universes work?

Also, the Persona series has a direct connection to SMT If, which was a confirmed alternate universe to SMT I and II. I understand that SMT If wasn’t translated into English so not every knows about that, but if you people are going to argue about this and downvote people blindly, you should look this stuff up.

          • https://www.facebook.com/OperationHotblood?ref=hl HeroOfGames16

But the entire multiverse of the SMT universe is connected through the Amala Network. The destruction of the Amala Network results in the destruction of the entire multiverse except one world in which the forces of Lucifer & Demi-Fiend duke it out with the forces of YHVH.

But fair enough, If… is the connection between SMT and the Persona games. Though this may lead to very dramatic consequences considering the Persona universe will also get caught up in the eternal battle of fate, Lucifer versus YHVH — and if the Bad Ending of Nocturne is canonical, then the Persona universe has basically being destroyed.

          • Wait what

You still don’t get it if you are saying stuff like “if the bad ending of Nocturne is canonical”, it’s ALL canonical. The Amala Network isn’t the only way different universes are connected, so many other games introduced so many things. Have you played any of them? Play the Raidou games, Persona 2, and SMT IV. Seriously, that’s the only thing I can say at this point, because you just don’t get it and I don’t want to just start posting spoilers from a bunch of games in these comments.

          • https://www.facebook.com/OperationHotblood?ref=hl HeroOfGames16

You keep saying “You don’t get it! You don’t understand it! Look it up yourself! All people are ignorant!” You sound like a socialist or an post-modernist who goes on like “You don’t know what it means. You don’t get it!” without I dunno, saying something worthwhile.
Well, what if you just educate me and elaborate on your thoughts instead of just repeating those words. And I don’t care much about spoilers anyway, so bring it on and explain to me why both endings are canon, and if so, why the Persona universe and all the other SMT universes can still exist — what the consequences are that Persona is part of the SMT megaverse, et cetera.

          • Sardorim

Use paragraphs and even if they use Multiverse the other games in the franchise will reference Male MU from Persona 3, not FeMU who was added after the fact. Nearly all media also goes with Male MU as well with Yukari pushed as his lover.

          • 07thCrow

Of course Atlus has to use a certain “canon”, P3 has an ending where Nyx utterly destroys the world. It would be kinda difficult to continue the Persona series if they chose an ending that was… well… a very definite ending to all life as we know it.

          • 07thCrow

I don’t get why you’re having downvotes either, because actually, according to Persona 4 Arena voice clips, P3P is just as canon. Elizabeth mentions her “brother” (Theodore), and Theo is only available when you play as FeMC. P3P is as canon as every other Persona ending! :)

      • amagidyne

On the other hand, canon is also completely meaningless.

    • Herok♞

Wouldn’t make sense for two of the same person to appear.

      • RisukuAozora

Cameo… that can work. Technically, are they same too? I mean, they go thru similar events, sure, but the S Links the two MCs made are somewhat different too.

        • bassgs435

I think they are brother and sister and the FeMC path was her having survived the accident while Makoto and her parents died in it

          • 07thCrow

Now THAT would have been interesting! Too bad they didn’t use that in the movie, they were both different enough from each other that I’m sure the movie developers could have made it work.

        • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

What if the main character crossdresses and he looks just like her?

          • RisukuAozora

            That would be priceless gold.

Hmm… was trying to reply to a guy whose post was removed. But I still feel compelled to post it… It’s not directed at you, it’s directed at Blazing0…. And also someone else from the OT.

It’s about that “joke site” the guy posted… Said “joke site” that at initial glance takes itself seriously and thus is harder to determine as just being a joke site. The guy sounded serious but if he wasn’t then he was trolling and either way it supports my statement to not give such sites hits and traffic.

You give more ammo to the fanatics and the trolls, it in turn supports ignorance and we’re left with a shitstorm of annoyance.

Yes. People who fall for such “joke sites” are the butt of the joke. But PC Master Race elitists are the butt of the joke and it doesn’t prevent them from being an extremely irritable presence. Them being the butt of the joke in ignorance only supports to enervate us further because they fail to realize that they’re the butt of the joke. In itself you might find it funny but it doesn’t remove the fact that it will persist as an annoyance that is just not worth “the joke”.

Sorry, leftover feels of someone trying to defend the spread of crap false articles because it’s “teh lulz” without understanding that it’ll just come to bite us back in the ass.

    • Ethan_Twain

That’s a legitimate concern, I’ve always been kinda surprised at the amount of suicidal imagery Persona 3 slipped under the radar. Atlus games and the Persona brand in particular have become more recognizable since that game originally released, and I feel certain that were a Persona 5 to have similarly challenging/upsetting/mature imagery it would become a hugely controversial topic. Perhaps even a big enough deal to draw comment from outside the enthusiast press.

      • Exkaiser

Slipped under the radar? I remember people making a big fuss about it when the game came out.

        • Ethan_Twain

And the fuss would have been bigger if Persona was one of the biggest names in JRPGs at the time. Which it wasn’t. The more popular a product is, the more people are aware of it, the more fuss will be raised for potentially objectionable content relative to the same content in a less popular game.

There’s the trend in media that the more popular a product is, the more homogenized and safe it becomes. That’s because consumer awareness groups and news media and ratings agencies all in their own way work to ensure that products that stray too far off the beaten path will be singled out because of it.

Persona 3 got it’s M rating and there was some talk about it on hardcore video game websites. If Persona 5 has the player performing abortions (abortion carrying a roughly equivalent social stigma to suicide, but you can insert your potentially offensive act of choice in here) then the reaction will be FAR more severe. The ESRB and retailers will be pressured by consumer groups to delist the game. Atlus as a brand will be publicized and there will be calls for boycotts. TV News Media will pick up the story. The entire enthusiast press will erupt. It’ll be a bad scene.

All this is particularly potent in the US if this Persona 3 movie gets released because it will only take one gun death associated with someone into the property for the dots to be connected and Persona 3 to be crucified. The US is just a super dangerous market for this stuff because of the 24 hour news media, the religious background, and the prevalence of guns everywhere.

          • bassgs435

that’s without getting at the shit the characters summon (Mara and Lucifer being 2 controversial examples)

          • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

The thing is that Persona 3 was released in the West mid 2007 when the PlayStation 3 was a big hit and the Persona IP wasn’t famous in the west.

          • supervamp

            Ok your point is?

    • Go2hell66

smt games have already covered so many controversial themes already, if anything like that was gonna happen it would have happened already. thats not even looking at other games

    • Herok♞

games are M for Mature for a good reason

      • RisukuAozora

but I thought it was Rated M for Mara? o.O’

      • http://blackstar2661.deviantart.com/ SilverSpades

Careless kids seem to skip that letter sometimes, for silly reasons.

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

Well with a mind set like that, I’m shocked I didnt hear about kids shooting each other because they play COD and othe FPS

      • Go2hell66

i’m sure there’s been plenty of COD violence already

    • Testsubject909

How would the parents know that the kid thought it was an evoker if the kid is already dead from having shot himself?

  • https://twitter.com/BinksFrost Binks5

    Sweet I loved persona 3

  • Marcelo G

Well, just keep the writers of the Devil Survivor 2 anime far, far away from this.

    • Shane Guidaboni

It’s already been written. Isn’t it too late to make that statement?

    • Wait what

It’s the same team as the Devil Survivor 2 and Persona 4 animes, both of which were horrible and completely missed the mark on characters, pacing, and tone. This movie is going to suck.

      • DyLaN

*rolls eye* I find P4 to be a better adptation tbh Kanji arc asides.

And I honestly don’t get the “THEY RUINED MAH YAMATO” comments as he basically the same as in-game sans the SLink stuff.

        • RisukuAozora

They’re similar sure, but he wasn’t the ultimate villain like the anime played him up to be.

        • Wait what

P4 was a terrible adaptation. None of the characters were adapted right, they added goofy humor to what the serious scenes were supposed to be (I actually cringed during the Naoto Shadow portion in the anime), and the overall production quality was atrocious. Also let’s make all the characters offensively homophobic because why not?

          • Testsubject909

They were homophobic in the game as well.

          • Wait what

No they weren’t, not even remotely.

          • supervamp

They weren’t homophobic in the anime

          • Testsubject909
          • DyLaN

=_= Is all I will say.

      • Detrimont

i have played through P4 and DS2 more than 10 times, i find that P4 was a great adaption, DS2 however, wasnt.
and in regard to another one of your comments, p4(game) was filled with goofy humor

      • https://www.facebook.com/OperationHotblood?ref=hl HeroOfGames16

I watched Persona 4 the Animation as someone who hasn’t played the game, and I must say, on its own, it’s a pretty good anime. The characters are at times a bit (too) assholish, but from what I’ve read, that’s also in the game.
I don’t know if my comment helps really because most people tend to play the game first and then watch the animation, but the anime was pretty good on its own :)

      • shuratan

        Wait what?

        • Wait what

          Wait what?

    • mike dickson

i khow imagine the p3 MC had hibiki’s personality i would cry just no

      • RisukuAozora

From the looks of the profile pictures for Yuki Makoto, I doubt it. I mean, look at him, he looks bored. I just hope he’ll end up slightly eccentric like Yu Narukami was for the sake of humor.

        • mike dickson

that but with a more i don’t give to shits attitude that would make perfect imo

      • bassgs435

problem with DeSu2A was that since the game’s story had a few similarities with NGE’s story , the guys who did it somehow thought that it would be a great idea to make the anime more of a blatant copy of evangelion by making hibiki a crybaby like shinji ikari

        • mike dickson

well thats true but they didn’t have to do that i mean he was fine the way he was scripted in the game but now

          • bassgs435

mind you , I don’t defend what they did either because I HATE NGE and Shinji A LOT . so yeah, I hate anime Hibiki, they ruined the character

          • Bec66

Really besides giving Hibiki a shallow Shinji Ikari type personality another problem with the show was that it was just to short so they ended up killing of most of the characters and the ones that actually did live until day 7 got killed with only a small bit of character development. However the Persona 4 anime I thought was handled pretty well.

          • mike dickson

that they did. lets just hope for future atlus animation projects they don’t mess up

    • http://blackstar2661.deviantart.com/ SilverSpades

I saw the first 3 or so episodes on Crunchyroll (mind you, I’ve played DS1 and never beat it, figured why not watch the second?) It got a bit boring so I stopped watching it, realizing it was long off the ‘popular shows’ list.

Glad I stopped wasting my time, then…

    • supervamp

I can kinda understand devil survivor 2 but then again if you treat it as an alternative telling then it’s not bad and persona 4′s adaption was wonderful.

    • Sardorim

Agreed. What they did with Makoto is unforgivable and how they tried to turn Ronaldo into a hero when he’s a monster? Bull****!

  • Xerain

Curious as to how long it’s going to be. I know there’s gonna be two movies, but there’s still quite a bit of material to cover.

    • Suko

No, if I’m not wrong, there actually is going to be three movies. From this trailer, this movie will probably cover until Fuuka’s Arc, so maybe the second movie will cover until the Mr. Chairman’s demise?

    • MSJ

My theory is that there will be a movie for each season.

    • Steven Higgins

Two? After the subtitle was announced I thought there where going to be four, each one taking place in a different in-game season.
But if there are just two, what if one was the MC and the other was the FeMC? But they’d have to cut a lot out to do that.

  • http://takopako.tumblr.com takopako

So psyched for this!!!P3Fes is my favorite game in the universe and the movie looks like it’ll be just as exciting!

  • Crimson_Cloud

Quality is gorgeous. Mitsuru, why are you so perfect?

    • LightGenx

      Back off she’s mine.

      • Spider-Man

        Get away from MY waifu.

        • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

Please Spiderman, just because you sold your wife to the devil doesn’t mean you can get another one so quickly.

          • http://blackstar2661.deviantart.com/ SilverSpades

            Ooh… Mephisto burn…

          • Testsubject909

Unfortunately Mephisto doesn’t appear in Persona.

            http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Mephisto

          • Spider-Man

T-That’s a low blow. I did it for Aunt May!

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

Makoto mind set “shadows? I simply doesn’t give a fuck”

    • Corginand

      You mean Makoto at 0:50?

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

        yeah XD messed up, facepalm

  • Fidelis

Any chance at all for a dub?
It’ll be really hard for me to watch this without hearing Vic and Liam come out of Junpei and Akihiko respectively

  • bassgs435

I hope the movies keep the cameos that were added in p3p (like Ms.Kashiwagi during operation babe hunt and Vincent), it also would be cool if they referenced the cancellation of rise’s concert

  • AnimeLeirus .

I would like an English dub… I get used to those voices in English.

  • evilmoogle

Don’t know man… it looks good.

But the same director from P4 and Desu 2?
one had quality problems and the other was a super abridged version .

Also, Dangon Ronpa the abridged copy paste/trace has a censored execution?
the heck man, it’s not even that graphic compared to someone getting stabbed by spears.

    • bassgs435

censored execution is just to sell DVDs/BDs with the uncensored version

      • evilmoogle

Don’t know about that. It’s the exact same as the game.
And personlly, i think the anime is a bad idea when people wanting to play/buy the game already got spoiled by the anime.
But who knows maybe it will boost the sales.

        • supervamp

No it isn’t if you look at it the way it’s drawn it’s completely different, they always uncenosre on blurays though i didn’t even notice considering this games stuff was toned down during the production anyways so it’s not like your missing much.

          • Detrimont

i dont think you get the point of evilmoogles comment
the execution scenes in the danganronpa anime, are EXACTLY the same as they were in the game, just a higher resolution

          • supervamp

No they aren’t i swear there are subtle difference if you look closely enough at the models.
There’s no way you can high res something that’s extensionally a cutout to look like it’s drawn

          • Detrimont

yes you can, psp cant handle high resolution, so the exectutions in the anime are how it was originally animated, the game uses the excact same scenes just the resolution was reduced, so that the psp could handle it

          • supervamp

Ummm the psp not being able to handle high resolution has nothing to do with it.

          • supervamp

There’s no need to reduce the resolution of pop out art.
Anyways I’m sorry for the late reply but watching mondo’s execution in the anime and in the game there’s no doubt in my mind they are two different things.
Raising the resolution in something wouldn’t add in animation to the scene, if you watch the anime version things move more and you can see drawn parts as they move, they also don’t happen the same way.
In the anime they don’t show monokuma revving the bike but in the game it does.
In the game the scene happens faster but in the anime it’s more drawn out.
So I’m sorry to say but the game scenes are not being reused.

    • MSJ

Leons execution in danganronpa didn’t look the same imo, but anyway i’m pretty sure seiji kishi isn’t directing.

P3 movie so far seems to be pretty faithful to the game.

    • Aunna Terrell

“Noriaki Akitaya (three Bakuman. series) is directing the first film at AIC A.S.T.A. with Seiji Kishi (Persona 4 The Animation, Devil Survivor 2 The Animation, Angel Beats!) supervising.”

  • Neophoton

    Burning my bread this November.

I could go for some toast right about now.

  • BizarreJelly

Time to summon your purse owners once again.

    I WILL BURN MY BREAD!

      Your Courage has increased!

  • Katboy

I wonder if it will be as dark and brooding as the persona 3 trinity soul..that anime got me into persona :)

  • konsama

    The artwork is just perfect.

    AND MITSURUUUUUUUUUU

I just hope it stays up to the game quality in story.

  • Katboy

I wonder if it will be dark and brooding like the persona trinity soul anime..loved that anime

  • RichyGaming

This movie looks better than Dora the Explorer…!

    • RichyGaming

      Guess I was wrong

  • Warren

This is amazing, on one hand we can see Mitsurus’ beauty on the big screen, on the other hand we will see Yukaris’ b*****ness on the big screen.

  • $61526767

Oh damn.. hard to express in words. <3 CANNOT WAIT! D:

  • Azurelegance

I don’t like how the trailer was 80% scenes we’ve already seen animated in the game (the quality of this animation is superior though). THAT TEASER OF SHINJIRO @_@ I’m hyped for this movie (even though I should have doubts) because… I miss P3 and P3 protagonist :)

  • http://shadious.tumblr.com/ Vince

Hello, Pharos. It’s been years, ne?

  • Lazulis

I wonder if he’ll be like the manga personality…I liked the manga personality they gave MC.

  • RichyGaming

I never finished Persona 3 (I just got Koromaru but I stopped there just because) but from what I’ve seen from Persona 4 Arena (Specifically Elizabeth’s storymode) I picked up a few hints that Minato was being referred to a lot. So I was hoping that this movie would have followed along as an aftermath of P3… oh well.

    • ShadowDivz

Try finishing it OR read the manga. But i don’t know how far the manga is…

  • Sardorim

Wonder how they’ll make this protagonist act. I mean many loved Yu in the P4 anime but the P3 protagonist is nothing like Yu.

Also looking forward to all the Yukari scenes from the game and manga being animated.

  • ShadowDivz

    0:50
Makoto: “huh, i wonder what that weird thing is”
    Yukari: “JESUS CHRIST, GET DOWN!”
    *saves life*

On a side note:Man, Mitsuru looks so hawwwt~ and this is coming from a guy who’s fav S.E.E.S girl is Yukari.

    • Testsubject909

Eh… I’d imagine at worst the thing would’ve done maybe 30HP damage. I mean they are early in the story and boss characters didn’t really put that much of a threat when they did regular physical attacks.

  • https://www.facebook.com/OperationHotblood?ref=hl HeroOfGames16

One thing I’m wondering, what happened to the Persona 4 heroes when the Dark Hour was still in full force? I mean, they had the potential to form Personas, but they didn’t get attacked during the Dark Hour.

  • Isaac Newton

    My evoker is ready XD

  • Ridho Siregar

Well, since it’s coming, I just hope Max Factory will finally make P3 Protagonist’s figma, and other S.E.E.S members.

AND I’M STILL WAITING YU NARUKAMI’S FIGMA!! COME ON, MF!!
