Drakengard 3 10th Anniversary Box To Include Kaine Costume From Nier

By Ishaan . July 23, 2013 . 2:05pm

Square Enix have announced which costume they’ve picked to include in the Drakengard 3 10th anniversary box. It won’t be anyone from Drakengard 1 or Drakengard 2—it’s Kaine’s costume from Nier, the game that creative director Taro Yoko considers “his own Drakengard 3”.

In addition to a download code for Kaine’s costume, the Drakengard 3 10th anniversary box set will come with the script for the first Drakengard game, too.

Additionally, Square Enix announced via a gameplay video broadcast today (watch it above) that Drakengard 3 will feature the return of Weapon Stories as well.

Pardon my ignorance but what does it mean that it will come with the “script of the first Drakenguard game”? Like the story script or the coding script?

    • Guest

      assembly code

    • Weroth

Yes, they did mention that it comes with the scenario script of the first game.

  • MFP

Better party AI, bigger enemy, blood splats every where, nice utautai mode transition (Zero is really singing), cool weapon combo, simple item menu… I’m ready for this.

    • AnimusVox

      I couldn’t hear her singing :(

  • deadMastershiro

  • Pockystix

Kaine costume? does it come with its own d*ck?

you know, to be authentic! lol

    • AnimusVox

      It’s a trap!

      • Crimson_Cloud

Some people are okay with it. ;)

I’d like to play this game, hell, if there’s gonna be a limited edition released I’m up for it. After Nier, I get anything from the people who made it. So I’m happy with the news somewhat. But the girl playing/watching someone play in this video is really-really annoying/irritating…
    How about signing this petition?

    • Brandonmkii

I honestly think that petition is way too early. Most niche games are announced for localization months after their initial release in their original territory. Give it 4 months after the Japanese release, and then I’ll start to get anxious.

      • Vash bane

i agree here besides we got the other 2 games didn’t we?

        • Teh Blasterz

While I am (somewhat) hopeful for the game’s localization, I believe the issues that have people worrying is that Square has a bit of a history these days of not localizing certain titles (hello Bravely Default and Type-0), and the fact that Square has not said anything about a localization even though the release of the game is only a few months away Doesn’t help that the Drakengard series and Nier have never sold well in the West either. Their comments about region specific games also has people worried.

  • yes yes yes!! weapon stories my favorite part of the whole franchise!!

  • The box is too expensive

    • But I still want it lol

    • Brandonmkii

I’d say it’s a fair price. I do a lot of importing and that seems pretty reasonable.

      • Aoshi00

I import a lot too, but at almost $300 including shipping, it’s really quite a bit more than other L.E.. Would’ve been nice if S-E ships to outside Jpn themselves.. instead of special ordering this e-store edition from an agent w/ fees.. and this package doesn’t seem light.. also still need to order the Drakengard 3 OST later lol.. it’s pretty hefty even for a DoD/Nier fan..

    • Aoshi00

I hesitated but took the plunge to pre-order it at the end.. It is indeed very expensive, even w/ the artbook, novel, soundtrack, like $200 more than the regular game (since S-E doesn’t ship outside of Jpn).. I was a big fan of Drakengard and Nier, so I hope it would be worth it.

I liked Kaine, but a bit disappointed chosen as the DLC costume.. Kaine was alrdy in HD before.. but not the previous Drakengard games, was hoping to be the other ones.. and the skimpy outfit is a bit similar to Zero’s..

      • Ferrick

where did you PO it btw ? i will most likely fo the same

        • Aoshi00

          I ordered thru these guys,

You could ask them to give you a quote, it’s about $240 + shipping, which isn’t unreasonable considering it’s almost 20,000 yen (but in Jpn it’s free shipping). I’m not sure if they are still taking order for this item, many websites stopped like cdjapan (and their EMS shipping is a lot). I couldn’t directly order from S-E because they don’t ship outside Jpn and I don’t have a Jpn credit card.

I’m trying to save lately and really watch what I’m buying, I think this would be the last splurge, till XB1 and PS4 come :(..

And dang it, wanted Caim too *.*;; he was the Drakengard icon..

          • Ferrick

            ah thank you very much

          • Aoshi00

sure thing, just send them an e-mail w/ this link. They would let you know the shipping charge later since we still don’t know how much this thing weighs, I hope not too heavy.. I’m leaning toward Sea to save.. too bad AmiAmi only has the regular edition, I don’t like them selling exclusively on e-store..

          • Ferrick

hmm, i guess i’ll just wait till Play-asia to get it up i guess

          • Aoshi00

The thing is playasia would probably cost even more when it comes to LE like Dodonpachi saidaiouojou super limited was $199 when it was like 12000 yen, they would mark up a lot and also send by EMS. For us getting this outside Japan its very expensive, might be better off to get the regular ver. I don’t really like the script as a bonus

          • Ferrick

hmmm, well this is a predicament in a way, but oh well i guess i’ll probably buy the standard edition and the OST seperately

          • Aoshi00

yeah, I never liked e-store ver since you need to special order at such a high premium.. The OST that comes w/ this is a different soundtrack though, it’s Drakengard 1/2 + Nier in 8-bit, not the Drakengard 3 OST that will be sold later, of course I’m gonna get that too, like every one of Nier’s OSTs lol.. I think they could do better w/ the script though. While it’s cool to have the written dialogue, I never really understand the use of it.. maybe a drama CD..

          • Ferrick

oh? All the more reason to get standard i guess, so yeah, i guess i’ll just do what i said before (along with wishing that Kuroi Uta is in the OST made for Dk3)

          • Aoshi00

The 8-bit Drakengard soundtrack is actually the thing I don’t want to miss the most, if it sounds as good as the 8-bit Nier track on the rearranged OST. Also the Fujisaka artbook and novel and such.. I hope the package is worth it. Yeah, can’t wait to hear Okabe Keiichi & co’s amazing Dk3 soundtrack and sad theme song. I paid $230 for the item, and hope sea shipping won’t exceed $20..

  • Despite the low resolution of the video the game looked really good. The combat looked swift and fluent, and the environment beautiful.

O_O What!? Kaine costume you say!?

Okay now…… If this doesn’t get localized I-I “Blah!”!!! (Leaves room)

  • Teh Blasterz

Heh,I wonder why they even held a vote for the costumes in the first place, I knew right from the start that Kaine’s costume would be the one that would win. Not that I’m complaining though.

  • schwarzmasa

I was hoping for the Caim costume… oh well.

  • Ferrick

so that’s who won, was kinda hoping for caim, but oh well

and gameplay wise…. i’m loving on what i’m seeing

  • Solomon_Kano

    I wanted Caim. ;_;

  • Riseabovethesky

    Yay for mute button.

  • Alexandra Cordes

    Why… must it be… so expensive…
I highly doubt this box will come out in America… Oh gosh, decision time.
To import or not to import… to save money or throw it at Taro Yoko where it belongs…

  • Vash bane

LOL I called it last time that kaine and zero personality kinda identical
btw is excited mode called Princess mode now?

    • Ferrick

      no, its called “songstress” mode

  • Damarius Wingfield

    How lovely…..and bloody!

  • Sim

Too bad you can’t get it unless you live in japan since JP SE store block foreigner…
