Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Has Twitter And Facebook Sharing

By Ishaan . July 23, 2013 . 2:40pm

Twitter sharing is coming to Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, according to a report in Japan’s Dengeki PlayStation magazine. Upon defeating bosses in the game, you’ll be able to share your score via social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

Dengeki PlayStation’s report also reconfirms that you’ll be able to change the colour of Lightning’s outfits, which is something that was reported in Famitsu magazine last year, shortly after the game was revealed. It’s unclear as to whether this applies to every costume in the game, though.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII makes quite a few changes to what you might expect to see in a Final Fantasy game. We reported this past week that the game won’t let you use MP to cast Cure spells. Square also revealed that they’re aiming for an open-world structure with the game, and minimizing load times.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be released in North America on February 11th, 2014 and in Europe on February 13th, 2014 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Cool. I get to share with my cousin just how much better at action games than he is!
Also it makes sense since Lightning is all by herself, being alone for so long can make you crazy.

  • Nightmesh

Wasn’t the same thing in XIII-2? I never used it in that one so I don’t think adding twitter would change that for me.

  • It’s not very useful

I wonder if this will work on 360 without a Gold subscription, since you can’t access Twitter or Facebook without it (ridiculous). Then again, maybe it just uses Squenix’s servers or something, so it doesn’t matter… maybe.

  • Wait what

I remember annoying everybody I have added on Facebook when XIII-2 came out by updating every single time I got a fragment or advanced in the story. I can’t wait to do it again.

  • Smooosh

I don’t even use facebook or twitter, but I guess that’s cool…? xD

  • Herok♞

Sounds fun, I wonder it will let your thoughts to, like crap this boss is going to murder me and my family just by looking at me.

  • Manny Being Manny

Stuff like this makes me cry a bit inside

    • whatinthewolrd

No friends to share it with? Or that no one cares about what you are doing?

      • ShadowDivz

Im pretty sure he just fails to see the point in “GUYS CHECK IT OUT IM PLAYING LIGHTNING RETURNS!”, “CHECK IT OUT I JUST BEAT A BOSS!” or “CHECK IT OUT I GOT AN ITEM”
Because you know, we don’t all crave attention. Interesting you would say he has no friends or nobody cares what he’s doing because he doesn’t see the appeal.
        Maybe you crave constant attention?

        • whatinthewolrd

Oh the hypocrisy of life, the mere fact you are here to share your opinion, that you took the time to upload an avatar. When will stupidity ever stop?

          • Virevolte

Never, but it’s fine. We don’t have so much time to witness it. =)

          • ShadowDivz

Im stupid because i uploaded an avatar? I just don’t like seeing a faceless silhouette when i post like im sort sort of pedophile.(not saying you are)

And your also sharing your opinion so how does that make you better than me?

          • whatinthewolrd

Okay so you didn’t get it. Im not going to explain since you have made up your mind.

  • Azurelegance

    Customizable Lightning… release date near Valentine’s Day… I don’t think this is a coincidence?

  • ShadowDivz

I really don’t see why EVERY(alot) game needs this now.
Is it maybe free publicity? Whatever, i never use it but i guess some people do.

It’s because gamers already tend to take screenshots, record videos, and generally brag online about what they did. It’s the same basic principle behind Trophies and Achievements; Gamers are going to go “Ha ha I did ____, look how awesome I am!” anyway, so why not build in a feature to take advantage of that? With Square Enix specifically they gave it a shot with XIII-2 and it was pretty well received as a feature.

Also, Lightning Returns will apparently have NPCs you can talk to in order to find out what your friends have done in the game. It’s difficult to say because of the developer’s habits of being vague, but it sounds like “you” appear in the games of people on your friend list as an NPC. It might just be a stock appearance and use your gamertag/PSN ID, but wouldn’t it be interesting if you could choose their look and name them?

It would be unique, if nothing else.

I would post annoying messages like..”omg look at my cute lightning outfit…so kawaii ^___^” and then everyone would hate me.

  • PlayLife

Nothing really new, Final Fantasy XIII-2 already has this Facebook and Twiiter post messages to share.

Boy, can’t wait to tell all my friends and not really friends i’m playing a mediocre video game!
