The game will be made available in North America “in the coming months”. Capcom also point out that Udon Entertainment are going to be publishing a Breath of Fire Complete Works art book in 2014.

I loved this game as a kid, but that was the least amazing trailer I’ve ever seen.

  • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

    Need more SNES RPGs.
On that note I cant wait for the GBA/GCN Titles.

We also need more N64 games

    • I really can’t wait for N64 games. I really want Majora’s Mask playable on my Gamepad. It’s one of the highest games on my list of games that I’d pay to have that capability. (appropriately enough, Harvest Moon was one of them, and look at what came out today.)

      • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

There are way too many N64 games we never got.

I want to play Ogre Battle!

        • $36598391

too bad square enix has their hands on the ogre series

  • Kyle McDaniel

Still doesn’t make up for all the missteps they’ve made.

    • Miss_Madness

Actually let’s think about this. If people buy this game more then the Bof6 then capcom can clearly see which direction they should be going with IP. The thing is that if BoF6 sells well enough then breath of fire is likely doomed to mobile hell forever.

  • sweet! im still gonna kick em for BoF 6 though

  • Oh, cool.

Actually works out, I was just glancing at the GBA versions of BoF1 and 2 just earlier on Amazon.

  • Shane Guidaboni

Is this supposed to somehow justify the previous abomination they announced?

  • Ståle Laastad

cool, but these games are way overpriced!

  • epy

Greatly recommended. Man I love this game. Some of the best character development on any SNES RPG. BoF4 is still my favorite though.

    • Enzo

I preferred the art style, gameplay, and just design of BoF3 over BoF4. At first I thought I liked BoF3’s story more, but when I think about my experience with BoF4, I actually liked BoF4’s story more.

      • epy

BoF3, I dunno. People love it the most and it definitely has the best character designs, I love the Fairy Village… but it didn’t grab me. It felt somehwat padded at times and I didn’t feel like Myria was really evil.

Now BoF4, kickass music, kickass villain, awesome battle system, freaking SCIAS and the fact that it very well could be the prequel to the entire Breath of Fire series. Man, epic, EPIC game.

        • Enzo

I personally preferred the dragon transformation system in BoF3 more than BoF4.

          • epy

You know what, despite really getting into the Master system and actively collecting all dragon transformations, I didn’t use them that much. Maybe once or twice to see them. I really liked that you could do merged transformations (the one with Rei was pretty cool) but I mostly ignored it.

        • FFmax

          Hell yeah.

      • MrSirFeatherFang

I love how the whole series is by one artist! (which you probably know) dat art evolution.

    • Namuro

Word, BoF4 is one of my most beloved games. The characters, the worlds, the settings, the story, the music…

      Good game!

  • French

this is actually breath of fire

  • デ オオカミ

For me, it’d make a lot more sense to at least release these snes rpg’s on the 3DS as well. ^^

  • Danilo Maeda

Hey guys we just killed your loved franchise, go buy BF2 because that’s the best you’ll get from us.

  • Fox

    “In the coming months?”

You’ve got to be ****ing kidding me. Japan got BoF2 and Final Fantasy 6 several weeks ago. Both games area already on the Wii VC. And we have to wait whole MONTHS to see just ONE of them?

Goddammit Nintendo. This is (just one of many, many reasons) why even your fans hate you.

    • skooks

Gamer entitlement is such bullshit. Hating a company because you have to wait a little bit longer for a game than another country is ridiculous. At least you know you’re getting the game; I didn’t see any mention of Europe in there. Europe gets routinely shafted when it comes to release dates and guess what, most of us just suck it up and wait because that’s the way it goes. Hating a company over something as petty as having to wait is just absurd.

    • Farid Belkacemi

I don’t think Nintendo is the problem here… Contact Capcom or Square Enix ;)

    • Well, I thought Earthbound was gonna come months from now and it actually got up there pretty quickly. Maybe we won’t have this before long, either…

  • Zero_Destiny

Oh man some good Breath of Fire news now! Hhmmm the timing is so perfect, makes me wonder if Capcom USA is trying to do some damage control over here *wink* *wink* xD

Anyways in all seriousness, cool, this is another Wii Virtual Console game making its way to Wii U. I’m hopeful to see more RPGs that were on the Wii’s VC make it over to Wii U eventually.

Breath of Fire II is hands-down one of my favorites in the series, and just a plain-good classic SNES RPG to boot. I really love the horror, and whimsy in it. Some parts are downright messed, then it’s right back to the happy. There are definitely some great moments in the game.

So now we have Earthbound, which has been a blast playing on the Gamepad in-between my SMT IV sessions, and this game coming soon. Wii U is finally gettin’ some classic RPGs. Hopefully it’ll get up to where the Wii was and beyond. Ys, Lufia, SoM, Final Fantasy VI, I’d love to have me some of that on the Gamepad.

Also the Breath of Fire art book. ^__^ Nice.

    • MrSirFeatherFang

I like the music too :D

      • Zero_Destiny

        *sorry for late reply*

Yeah man, Breath of Fire has always had some pretty good music. :)

Some of my favorites come from IV though, especially the end song.

Even makes the short commercial feel really emotional. lol

    • I waited and waited for Lufia to hit the Wii’s VC but… now it seems I have to do all that waiting all over again and I doubt it’ll pay off this time either. At this rate it’ll never get onto VC in Wii U’s life cycle either. I’m so damn glad that Ys Book I and II for the Turbograf X made it onto the Wii’s VC though, but I get the feeling we won’t ever see it on the Wii U’s VC.

      • Zero_Destiny

Yeah, you and me both, I was jumping up and down at the initial announcement, it made me think that after the DS game drumming up some attention they would give the old SNES games a proper re-release too. Sadly it never came, and now they pretty much missed their mark. >__< Oh well, I'll keep hoping.

  • キロ

It makes it quite painful when they say they want to release my favorite Breath of Fire game right after the Breath of Fire VI announcement!

However, I suppose my pain will be eased playing it!

  • $36598391

Capcom should toss Breath of Fire 1 on the Wii U Virtual Console too

  • Noice.

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

You’re better off playing Ryusui’s excellent retranslation/improvement patch:

    • Wow, it sucks to learn that it always had a bad translation :/ even worse that a re-release after all these years won’t be fixing that. Then again, I don’t think I would want to play Lufia 3 without some “Frue Destruction”, maybe bad translations have resulted in some things that fans can grow fond and nostolgic of?

I’ll probably just buy it on VC to show my support and then either play through it first then the patched game, or buy it and just head straight to playing the patched game.

  • Why not the GBA version?

  • Hours

Too bad it’ll still have the absolutely atrocious translation it originally got.

  • Sorry, Crapcom. You are NOT getting any more of my money unless you say, “HA! JUST KIDDING” about that monstrous idea of BoF6.

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

    >Please pay at the counter.

    Naw, that’s all right. *leaves*

  • Chris Lane

I’m a bit surprised this title and Earthbound haven’t been brought to the 3DS eshop as well considering how many more of those consoles have sold.

  • Göran Isacson

Aaah, BoF 2. Not sure I want to rebuy it after replaying it not too long ago, and with a better translation at that, but I can’t deny it’s got some really catchy music and that it was one of my favs back in the old days. The good days. The long, long ago…

Oh well, if we’re getting an english translation of that art-book I can certainly buy and support that instead!
