2014 is beginning to paint as another awesome year for the 3DS

    • AuraGuyChris

Another awesome year. This year was full of RPGs for it.

  • Smooosh

This is awesome! REALLY looking forward to it!! :)

  • I knew it would happen eventually.

  • Desukoru

This is literally the best thing that has happened to me all year.

  • Marcelo G

    YES! YES! YES!

I was all sad like “Boo, after Azran Legacy I will never hear Christopher Robin Miller again”

And then BAM Layton vs. Attorney.

You’re great, Level-5/Nintendo. I’m buying the hell out of this. That said, if you also throw in a Youkai Watch localization, I’m gonna love you forever ;D

  • SirRichard

Shibata makes for one hell of a Phoenix Wright, I’ll tell you what.

Absolutely amazing news, and here I was thinking this was going to be a boring Direct!

  • Thatguy

I falled from my chair, when saw *Objection* by Shibata. Nintendo, you are awesome

  • this was a pleasant suprise

  • Freud_Hater

Oh wow! Didn’t see that coming. It’ll be cool to see young Phoenix and Maya in new stuff again ^___^

  • piichan

i’m at a loss for words *tears of joy*

  • Strain42

All I can say is WHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

I mean I could also say “about freakin’ time” but that would make me sound like a jerk. So let’s just stick with WHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

  • Rini11

    and Europe too I hope:)

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

  • anthony apduhan

Can’t wait to see more of this… at Level-5 Vision

  • Brandonmkii

Great news! Though I’m not surprised. They did say something was up with game a month ago, but wouldn’t elaborate.

  • Arizato

  • Well, this was a wonderful thing to hear about right when I woke up.

  • Chrystofax

This is good news but not everyone seems to be happy, I read this blog post asking “Why Nintendo?” which intrigued me. Anyone know what they mean by that?

    • J_Joestar

really? people ask “Why Nintendo?” for a crossover of two series that mainly appear on Nintendo handhelds?

    • Guest

I think there was some kind of criticism to this game, but some of the complaints came from what you would expect from both series core mechanics and a crossover game. For example, I read people didn’t like this game was too long.

In all fairness, Shu Takumi involvement in this game should be a guarantee to Ace Attorney fans. And for Professor Layton, Level-5 never disappoints in giving a fun experience.

Edit: And some others are just hard to please I suppose :P

    • Göran Isacson

Weeell, what did the blog itself say? Did you read it, or just the title? Might have done a better job of explaining why they wouldn’t be happy about this.

  • King mogz

    Looks so epic =O

  • J_Joestar
    • Scissors

Took me a minute to get it, at first I thought it was Jill Valentine.

This is so going be AWESOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOME!!!!!!

I am SO going to buy a 3DSXL. No one is going to stop me!

So many wonderful games to play ;-)

  • RisukuAozora

    About time! :)

  • Cheers to Level 5~

  • artemisthemp

I decided to buy a 3DS in October and Nintendo announce this :)

  • Guest

So Level-5 America is handling localization? O_O

If so, there is hope for the other L5 games!!!

  • FlyingSteamroller

Sweet news! Even more games for my 3DS :)

  • If Siliconera ever interviews Level 5 or anyone involved with this game please ask them what the hell happened to the song from the debut trailer. It’s not in the official soundtrack and it sounds amazing. A damn shame.

Anyways, glad this was confirmed. I had never had any doubts it would get localized. 2012 is packed, 2014 is already looking awesome.

  • YuanMori

  • Uso Ewin

    No objections

  • AlteisenX

About. Freaking. Time! Woot! So happy to hear its finally coming!

  • Ardus

I really dont see why it was not confirmed right away as far as I know both Prof Layton and Ace Attorney have a pretty big fanbase, I dont see how a game with both of them in it wouldnt sell like crazy.

    • Brandonmkii

I remember reading something how it didn’t sell like gangbusters in Japan because the fanbase doesn’t overlap as much as one would think.

    • Ethan_Twain

Rather than second guess the marketing tactics and resource allocation of these multi-national corporations, I’m just grateful that a product I care about is coming to my market. It’s gonna be just as good in 2014 as in any other year.

      I’m just… I’m happy.

  • Jonathan Tse

  • ChiffonCake

    Is this real life?

    • Dexward

      Is this just fantasy?

  • linkenski

Europe trailer said “Early 2014” as oposed to just “2014” in the NA trailer. Good I live in Europe :)

  • KnifeAndFork

    Digital or retail copy?

    • fireguardiancoty

      It’s Level 5 so…retail. They’re pretty amazing, unlike Crapcom.

  • $61526767

Well.. that just adds more to my 3DS collection.. SWEET! Look forward to playing this game!

  • Tiramii

  • Göran Isacson

… Well I guess I’ll just be sitting pretty on pins and needles until goshdarn 2014 then. Just gonna have to wait but that is cool. I can do that. I can do that.

I cannot do that HAVE NOWWOWOWOWOWWgnbgsgl *and the rest of the comment is just incoherent drooling and happy-sounding noises*

  • Anime10121

Well, thats it, SCREW MY EYES! I will continue to buy 3DS games! Nintendo’s straight KILLING IT on the handheld front :D

Now, if only we could do something about that home console… (though SB, X, and B2 will DEFINITELY be mine)!

  • AverageGamers

Oh yeeaah… gonna start saving for this.
And as much as I like to nitpick about keeping Japanese voice with sub, Layton and Phoenix are among the few games with dubs that I really don’t mind… :)

  • ShadowDivz

What’s professor layton? Sorry im not familiar with the series.
is it like Ace Atorney?(recently got into that)

I would totally watch an anime with that animation though.

    • No, Layton is very different from Ace Attorney. There’s very little investigation and most of the gameplay consists of solving puzzles… as in actual puzzles. (Move the boxes, calculate this number, arrange the matchsticks etc etc)

  • leingod

I remember someone making a rant about Senran Kagura getting localized instead of Layton vs. Wright… totally unfounded BTW, since their companies have nothing to do with each other.

Whatever the case, I guess everyone’s happy now!

  • XaviIniesta

    Finally! Great news!

  • SupaPhly

This reminds me of a puzzle…

  • Guilherme Matheus Silva

I am throwing my hint coins at the screen, but nothing is happening!!

I need this game!! At least we have AA:DD this year ♪♫

  • SuperSailorV

So in terms of this game,

I can finally quit the “Objection!”s and in early 2014, start my “I’ve got it!”s!

  • Keiji Johnson

*clears throat* Sorry. I got a bit too excited there, but I’m glad that I was. ^_^

  • James

OMG! can’t wait to see this series with greatest attorney. waiting for it.
