The PlayStation Vita port of Borderlands 2 is being developed by Divekick developer Iron Galaxy Studios, Sony revealed today. Sony will be publishing the game themselves.

Borderlands 2 will allow for four-player co-op on Vita, but Sony haven’t shared any further details on the port. The game is slated for release sometime in 2014.

Not sure how many people actually wanted this for Vita but its welcome….hopefully the rest of the week shows more games comming.

    • frogfro

I remember there being a petition for it to come to Vita a while back. I’m not entirely sure why Borderlands 2 in particular was so desired, but I’m glad it worked out for everyone.

    • GaMeR_bOi_83

Well a Gearbox employee went on IGN and said it him self that he wanted to port the game to the Vita. He was the ceo or something like that. Thing is since he said that fans have been backing him up and asking Sony for the port. And has frogfro said there was a petition for it. I would of took a new B-lands made from the ground up made only for the Via. But I don’t mind a port.

  • The Watcher

Hopefully they can pour all that campaign DLC into the game too or at least have some vouchers for those who buy new copies.

  • Malon

Please online multiplayer and cross-play with PS3 players and then my life will be complete. : (

  • tubers

I hope this isn’t something like a vaporware class announcement for the VITA.

  • SilentMC

Well here’s to hoping it runs well on the Vita. The majority of vita ports seem to have framerate issues of some kind

    • Sango

I hear you. Jak and Daxter collection was a terrible port.

    • natchu96

On the bright side, this game has unique enough graphics style that you may be as likely to notice the issues as you would in a TF2 match when the huge chaotic fights happen. Maybe.

One can at least dream it will perform on a handheld smoothly enough to look nice and be able to shoot things, can’t he >_<

  • ronin4life

I can’t help but think this is going to go horribly wrong after hearing this…
Kind of reminds me of the Vita CoD game.

    • TheExile285

You should play the Killzone beta. Its epic.

Also the dev who made CoD Vita and Resistance Vita doesn’t make Vita games anymore.

      • Ni ~UNREAL BLACK THINGS~

        “made” the cod vita.
didn’t they just ported MW3 dlc to vita?

        • TheExile285

No, Vira got its on CoD but it wasn’t good.

        • Solomon_Kano

Would’ve been a much better game if they did.

  • TheExile285

I’m looking forward this… but how about some localizations?

If we got half of the Japanese games Japan got, I wouldn’t even care about Western support…

    • WhyWai

I want tales of innocent and senran kagura!

      • Pdugna

both tales games would be really nice….

  • leingod

Skipped it on console, so I guess it’d be awesome to play it on the go. Let’s hope it’s a decent port though.

    • jujubee88

Having checked Iron Galaxy Studio’s Wiki page, they are very good for a lower budget dev studio:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Galaxy_Studios#Games

Compare them to Nihilistic Software that did the mediocre CoD and Resistance VITA games:

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nihilistic_Software#Games

      • leingod

Yeah, these guys don’t sound as bad as Nihilistic by a long shot. Not saying all their stuff is good (Back to the Future on the Wii was atrocious) but at least most of it is pretty decent.

On a side note, Nihilistic pretty much died after their Vita incursions.

        • jujubee88

Yup, It’s sad bc I think they needed to work under some time constraints too.

Hopefully, everyone learned their lesson in not rushing things to market. Because this thing has been in talks/in the works for at least a year so I’d assume development would have been as long. With a 2014 release for just a VITA port, I like the odds of this turning out better than the CoD and Resistance stuff.

    • AJ

I did too. I loved Borderlands, but I was waiting to snag 2 and the DLC used for super cheap. But I will be buying the Vita port at full price because I can play it at work.

  • Sango

What happened to the Bioshock port for the Vita?

    • TheExile285

That isn’t a port, its supposed to be its own game.

Anyway, Sony and 2K are apparently discussing it. The BioShock guy tweeted something about it not long ago so try google.

      • Sango

Thanks for the clarification. I was under the impression Bioshock infinite was being ported to the vita when the vita was first announced.

  • Raltrios

Welp, as one who lacks XBL, I’d get this if I could go multiplayer on it. My inability to do so as of now is the only reason I haven’t bought it.

  • DarthSithZero

As much as i’m excited for this i’m also worried if the port is going to end well, i mean look that the game is huge and it might end losing graphical quality or framerate and i dont want to end like NG2+, the framerate was awful and kinda killes the experience for me.

  • http://yaminoseigi.blogspot.com/ Yami no Seigi

While it is unrelated i hope Xcom will get its Vita port as well considering even Borderlands can even make it.

  • ZekeFreek

I just hope it runs well. So far some PS3 ports to VIta have suffered performance wise.

    • sherimae1324

doa 5 plus, atelier games, ps all stars, umvc 3, blazblues, virtua tennis 4, rayman origins….

do these games suffer performance wise like u said?

      • Ni ~UNREAL BLACK THINGS~

umvc3, SFxTK and BB runs smoothly. the other ones i don’t know since i don’t like/support or never played the franchise.
we have special cases like NInja gaiden sigma 2 who was a really lame port by Tecmo that gave vita a bad name for a while.

      • Solomon_Kano

For what good ports we see, we also see a fair amount that are… less so.

      • ZekeFreek

TO BE FAIR, some those games weren’t as graphically intensive to begin with. Nobody’s pretending Disgaea 3 or BlazBlue or Rayman, etc. were really giving the PS3 a workout or anything.

  • artemisthemp

I hope Borderlands 2 will come with all DLC included
