By Ishaan . August 21, 2013 . 8:30am

The latest downloadable quest to join Shin Megami Tensei IV is “The Eternal Youth”. The quest costs $2.49 and is another Challenge Quest related to the main story.

In The Eternal Youth, your job is to defeat the Eternal Youth, Sanat Kumara. Defeating him lets you fuse the demon Chaos Sanat.

Atlus recommending waiting until you’ve completed the game to take on the quest. You can find screenshots from the Japanese version of the quest here.

I’m glad I waited on beating the other routes. I finished Neutral and was going to start right back up as Chaos, but I think I’ll hold off until a few more DLC packs come out.

    • Sardorim

Good choice. Chaos has nice NG+ exclusive demons for its route though its story compared to Neutral is very lacking. You know there’s an issue when you learn more about the final bosses on Neutral than on Law or Chaos.

      • MrTyrant

Can you take the chaos route and get the neutral ending? because the neutral one is really hard to unlock. I heard about a -8 and +8 invicible rating system.

I wish there was a dlc about seeing your aligment like in Strange Journey. With your name in red, white and blue.

        • Zeik56

If you mean siding with Walter then yes, that’s actually the preferred way to get the Neutral ending, since it’s a lot easier to get Law points than Chaos. If you mean after you get locked into the Chaos route then no, you’re stuck with it until your next playthrough.

          • MrTyrant

The locked part would be after King Kenji or not?

          • Zeik56

            Yes.

        • Ying

Yes because getting points for the Law route is extremely easy.

Although getting the Neutral route is not that hard. I got it on my first playthrough while playing blind. The trick is to talk to the Cynical Man to check your alignment. He appears in the Hunter Association’s sometime around when you have to first go to Shibuya

If you are leaning more towards a certain route he will say:
Law – You are a polite young man
Neutral – You’re a hard guy to understand

          Chaos – You’re hot blooded

          • MrTyrant

Cynical man dissapear in a great portion of the game after the route split. When you are in other worlds you have no way of knowing what your aligment is and I don’t know exactly how much those decisition affected my aligment in the meantime before fighting King Kenji.

          • Ferrick

actually you do have a way to find out your alignment in the world map even without cynical man (and he doesn’t disappear, he moves to other hunter cafes, just no idea on when and where he will go next), you can check if your alignment is going law or neutral or chaos by looking at your character in world map, if it turns completely left, you’re law, right, you’re chaos, and if it is oscillating, then neutral

atleast that’s what the general consensus says

          • MrTyrant

            Duuude, that is tricky.

          • Brimfyre

I played blind my first time as well and got Neutral. The window is small, but the game is so well designed that I truly believe if you just play it with the right mindset you can get the correct ending. All the choices I picked were what I would choose IRL. Mostly chaos, with a little Law regarding things that felt morally wrong.

          • Ying

No he doesn’t? Until you go into the other world’s he still appears in the Hunter’s Associations. Right before I went to face that guy Tayama summoned in order to protect the Yamato Reactor I went to go find him to check my alignment. If you do that then you know what options to pick in the few choices you are given in the alternate worlds.

  • Sardorim

He’s weak against Gun Attacks. He also spama Gaea Rage so if you take too long he will cause all your demons to have “Lost” Status. So you’ll want to have decent Luck and Agility on your Flynn and abuse Smirk as near the end of the fight it will either be Flynn alone or Flynn and a fast Demon with Draconic Focus.

Though if you really want to stomp him have Demons that all have a Gun attack skill and try and get them all to “Smirk”. Also, having a demon with Physical Repel goes a long way of cutting away at Sanat’s turn count.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    no more costume packs?

    • Sardorim

Lucifier armor is the last outfit you can purchase. The helmet looks dumb though.

  • SlickRoach

Neo Exdeath what are you doing, stahp it.

  • Abysswalker90

Someone took a pill before designing this thing.

    • dragoon_slayer12

What are you talking about, they were on something while designing majority of the creatures.

    • 하세요

Implying all other SMT demons look sane.

      • Abysswalker90

They are based on their corresponding mythological design afterall. But this….this thing has one leg that’s a wheel full of faces, and the other one is a genie lamp

      • MrTyrant

        They look better at least.

        • DyLaN

Never been a fan of some Kaneko demon design honestly… Personally I prefer the more distinct and weird look ofmost of the SMT IV demon.

  • MrTyrant

It is really ugly as most newer demons. The minotaur was really one of the most cool ones.

    • SlickRoach

I liked how they designed it’s snout to also be viewed as a skull depending on which part of it you’re focused in. I forgot the name for optical illusions like that if you can call it one.

    • Dagobert

It was. The whole snout looking like a skull thing was awesome.

      • Ferofax

And the Bull’s forelegs meld perfectly into the triceps’ sleeve. It’s like the bull is piggybacked, but then the snout is a face, and everything becomes confusing while still making sense.

    • DyLaN

I dunno, the new archangels looks fine to me.

  • Aesma

I must admit, while I usually support the new designs (Well the Angels at least), this one is different.

As far as I know about him, Sanat Kumara is known as the Eternal Youth and Lord of Living Flame (Unsure about the second title), and he is depicted as an eternal 16 years old boy.

…correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s not a 16 years old boy.

    • MrTyrant

Well take a look at Masakado, it’s a similar case of what you said.

      • Aesma

Which Masakado? The DLC superboss one or the normal one?

I’ll refrain from commenting the DLC one until it comes out…

For the normal one, isn’t it ‘valid’? I mean, assuming that Taira no Masakado’s head was cut in his execution.

  • Dagobert

I’m enjoying this game so far, but I’m really not liking some of the demon’s design work. Some of them, like this one for example just has too much going on.

    • MrTyrant

I agree with you. I like the character design but the demonic ones are awful but like I said there are some good exception.

    • AdhesiveBoy

I knew it was gonna be a little sketchy when the first demon I encountered was the really abstract Centaur.

  • DyLaN

Yup its channeling the SMT demon feel alright.

    • MrTyrant

      No, its not.

      • DyLaN

Not WTF enough for you? This looks just as trippy and unique with those Kaneko demons IMO.

And its MY opinion, deal with it. Keep the downvoting sh*t outta this, downvoters.
