Face Tokyo’s Guardian In The Latest Shin Megami Tensei IV DLC

By Ishaan . August 27, 2013 . 12:00pm

Shin Megami Tensei IV has two more DLC quests this week. Here’s what you’re getting:

Radiant Equipment ($1.49): Three Challenge Quests, each one providing a piece of the Traje de Luces armour set. The three quests can be accepted early on in the game.

For the Past… For the Future ($2.99): A Challenge Quest that lets you battle Tokyo’s guardian deity and unlock him for demon fusion. This game is connected to the main story and is recommended for post-game completion.

  • Laith Rem

Drains everything, resists almighty and a ten turn time limit.

Hope you did all the other DLC quests.

    • InfectedAI

      That sounds ridiculous.

      • Laith Rem

        It’s amazingly ridiculous.

      • Sardorim

Other DLC ends up giving you Pierce Skills and a power up that stacks with the other power up skill.

You also got a skill that lets you “Smirk” up a Demon or yourself.

I had Uriel pumped with Dark Energy + Charge + Bloody Glee while I used Archangels Law/Call to get him to smirk. My other demons either buffed/debuffed or skipped their turn.

Uriel with his Throw/Toss skill + Physical Pierce worked a number on Masakado’s Shadow.

    • MrTyrant

Can you damage him with thunder-god and the other elemental piercing attacks from the archangel for example?

      • Laith Rem

Yeppers. If you can fuse Aeshma(sp), the reward for beating both Archangels DLC, then you have this in the bag… more or less.

        • RoxasTheUnknown1

          Phys Pierce + Dark Energy + Charge + Kanukki-Throw = lol

          • dahuuuundge

which demon can you get the Phys Pierce and Dark Energy skills from? Did you fuse them on to Uriel? Because he has Kanukki-Throw by default

          • RoxasTheUnknown1

Sanat (DLC) has Phys Pierce Dark Energy and Deadly Fury. I had to refuse Uriel to get those on him.
Edit: Well not Deadly Fury lol. Put that on Metatron. Love that skill.

Holy hell. How’s the armor set? I’ll end up getting it anyway but I’m not even done with the main story and the last armor set has been a little broken for the last few boss fights xD Not like I care if I’m OP – the fun is demon fusing for me.

    • chibidw

Whellllp, time to get on that Red Rider farming.

    • ChiffonCake

And here I thought it couldn’t get worse than SJ’s Demiurge…

    • Surgeon of Death

If nature won’t kill it, light wont smite it, and time is of the essence,

    • AuraGuyChris

Take out that Demonee-ho for his ultimate test.

  • JustThisOne

Ohhh, so this is what he looks like! I haven’t finished the game yet, but so far he just looks like a brain stem. xD

  • MrTyrant

is this the last DLC? really? i wanted to fight demi-fiend again with a remix battle theme from Nocturne.

    • Crevox

      latest != last?

      • Lordshade

This was the last DLC released in Japan on July 11, So I think there is no more.

  • Ethan_Twain

I sure hope Atlus isn’t bummed out if these DLCs don’t sell well right off the bat. SMT IV is a LONG game, and I’m not even gonna approach being done with it for many months yet.

    • Fidelis

..It’s not really that long..I beat chaos in 28 hours, neutral in 39 back before any complete guides were around.. a lot of the people I talk to on message boards were quicker than me, because I got lost a lot and crapped on by bosses often. The only thing that could make it seem lengthy is getting lost often on the frustrating tokyo map or not knowing what to do near the end of neutral..

I could maybe understand it taking months to play through neutral..but law or chaos should be able to be completed in a few days or weeks depending on your rate of play.

      • Ethan_Twain

Man, I think I’m 10 hours in and I’m only now making baby steps out into tokyo. I take my time with these sorts of punishing JRPGs.

  • Lazulis

Sooo much dlc. I just beat SMT4, and I’m doing new game + now…will there be a batch buy of the dlc (doubt it, but…)
