By Ishaan . August 28, 2013 . 2:00pm

PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita owners will be able to talk to one another using cross-platform party chat, Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida has confirmed over Twitter (via: Destructoid).

In reply to a question from a fan asking whether cross-platform chat would be possible across the two systems, Yoshida simply replied with a “Yes”.

So will they release an update to increase the Vita’s friend list to the amount of the PS4’s? (I think it was 2000)

    • TheExile285

Hope so since the limit is actually 100 on Vita…

      I’m running out of space….

      • Arcana Wiz

        remembers how many friends i have…. -_-
But it’s great for those who have a lot of persons on friend list and dont like eliminating.

Oh Vita… You had to make the PS4 just so much more appealing… It’s like the strategy (behind the scenes) of making the Vita was just to make the PS4 the better console. Yoshida-san surely laughs behind our backs…

vita every moment it’s becoming a greater portable if you’re planning to buy a ps4, but please sony dont make the VITA a accessory, PLEASE announce games at TGS.

My PS3 died today. YLOD. Not sure what steps I should take. Just wait for PS4 and leave my PS3 days behind me, get a Vita, get the PS3 fixed.

Damn if only the PS4 was Backwards Compatible my choices would be so much simpler. Or if they would announce which games will be streaming. DAMN!!!!

Seems stupid to spend $120 to fix a system when a new one is coming out in a few months.

I think it comes down to what games you want, or which system has more games youre interested in. As you mentioned he PS4 isn’t backwards compatible but are there enough games coming out at launch that you care enough about to warrant a purchase (day one or a little soon after)? Or are there still game you want or haven’t beaten on PS3 yet that you’d still want to play?
A new PS3 is still cheaper than a PS4 (of course) but getting yours fixed is still cheaper than buying new one also.

    • Solomon_Kano

      What Animus said, really.

Are there still PS3 games coming out that you want? Did you finish all the PS3 games you already had? Did you want to finish them, if you haven’t?

Because it’s still cheaper to get a PS3 than a PS4 (and a Vita, depending on what memory option you go for).

      • Brimfyre

Yeah I’ll just have to fix it. I had finished the Sorceress route on Dragon’s Crown the night before it crapped out. Still want to finish the other characters, and all the Nippon Ichhi games coming out.

I was thinking if it was just NIS games I was looking forward to I could just get a Vita and play them eventually when they get inevitable ports. ha.

Thanks for the advice, I just needed some convincing down the right path.

        • Solomon_Kano

Too true on those NIS games haha.

Guess DC was a bit too awesome for your PS3 to take. :P

Good luck on getting it fixed.

    >>playin’ your PSVita
    >>get a codec call
    >>It’s Hideo Kojima, on his PS4

    • Mr_SP

Kojima: I can see your thoughts! You have… Metal Gear Solid HD!

      Kojima: …Did you rike it?

  • Solomon_Kano

That’s pretty sweet. I didn’t consider this being a feature, but I suppose it makes sense what with Remote Play being a bigger thing now. Would suck to be playing a game with your friends in another room and lose the ability to talk to them.
