Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix Trailer Focuses On Re:Chain of Memories Combat

Square Enix have shared a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, this time focusing on Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories. The trailer shows off the card-based battle system from the game as well as some of the story cutscenes that will be included from Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days:

 

 

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix is slated for release on September 10th in North America and September 13th in Europe.

    I loved the card system on the original CoM and as the PS2 remake wasn’t released in Europe, Re:CoM is easily my reason that I’m so eager to get my hands in the HD collection.
    Sadly I don’t think there’s a middle ground to CoM, people either love it or hate it.

      I feel like I could be considered in the “middle ground,” as the cutscenes and boss battles were amazing, but all of the random dungeons were boring, and took away from the exploration and creative re-creation of the Disney worlds.

      I liked it after all it was nice going into kingdom hearts 2 with some insight on some of the things in there like why sora was asleep in that pod, and what happened to the other members of organization 13 and why they weren’t around during the game, and plus being able to summon cloud was awesome especially considering how useful it was against the final boss in that game.

      If you liked it on GBA, you’ll LOVE it on this collection! Honestly, most of the moves from BBS were pulled right from outta ReCoM! Theirs so much variety if you choose to learn your sleights! I had a blast, and cant wait to reexperience these in a couple weeks :D

        I know I’m REALLY in the minority on this, but I a. Liked Com, and b. Find it hard to play ReCom.

        I think it’s because the card system didn’t translate well from 2d to the more traditional of KH perspective combat to me. When I play ReCoM, it feels more like a regular KH game, so I try to PLAY it as one too, even though that doesn’t work thanks to the cards. It’s easier for me to get into CoM’s unique card based system on the 2d GBA version.

          But it’s nearly the same thing as BBS’ battle system (well at least to me it was EXTREMELY similar)…

            I found the two to be very different personally. It’s not the recharge times that got to me, it’s getting the sleights to line up. I played CoM with a VERY sleight-based death, and it was hard for me to translate that to ReCoM. BBS is easy and fun for me to play on the other hand,

            But then again at end game, all you really need are a bunch of 9′s and a couple zeroes and nothing can stop you.

            Truth be told, you’re the first person I’ve ever heard compare the CoM battle system to the Command Deck that’s in KH’s more recent games. Especially since the Command Deck is often very praised, and the card system is disliked.

            Really? I hear people saying how the command deck is “inspired by” the CoM “cards” all the time! The only difference is that the command deck is made easier (and I guess less cumbersome) by taking out the numbers and just making each card an ability instead, thus taking out the need to combine cards to create the moves.

            Dont get me wrong I like the command deck more, precisely because its easier and more “flashy” than having to organize a deck to perform sleights/abilities. But it (the command deck) is DEFINITELY derived from the card decks.

            I know how people praise one but vilify the other, but its basically because CoM’s battle system had quite a few flaws to break up the action (especially with high powered abilities like Ars Arcanum and Ragnarok being comprised of cards that total to less than 10 and were easily broken) whereas the command deck was more fluid in that all you had to do was attack and pick your abilities. With it being the prototype for what became the command deck, its understandable that the first version wasn’t “perfect”.

            I enjoyed it for what it is, a strategic battle system that set KH gameplay up for its future. Was it flawed in some aspects? Sure, but that doesnt stop it from being fun in the slightest :D

            Now that I hear you justify it, I can see how the Card system was a prototype for the Command Deck. It may help explain why the Command Deck is my favorite system of all in Kingdom Hearts.

            I’d go as far as to say that I’d love if KH3 went command deck, though a new system would be cool too, they’ve used the Command Deck for 3 games now.

            Nomura has already said they’re focusing on making KH3 more “KH2 like” in essence. Now he said he may borrow things from the handheld games like flowmotion and the like, but in essence, 3 will be more an evolution of the console battle systems than the handheld ones.

    Can’t wait to see the improvements done for Birth By Sleep when we get KH 2.5 HD Remix.

        He said it made no sense for there not to be a KH 2.5 HD Remix. Considering KH3 has a long way to go before release this will be an easy cash move by them and makes sense as the top dog said himself.

        Since BBS is on the PSP it wont be that hard for them to HDify it and add in the second analog to the control scheme. Hell, Re:Coded could get in just as easily as well. Though DDD may only get the Days treatment, such as in KH 1.5, where it’s only cutscenes.

          If anything I’d rather Re:Coded get the 358/2 treatment.

            Re:coded is going to be the hardest to update. The cutsenes are still images outside of a handful of important ones that are similar to the handful of voiced scenes in Days. They’d basicly need to remake everything.

        Assumed, Nomura has said on multiple occasions that he’d like to make it though and that it’d be weird for there NOT to be one. So in many peoples minds its confirmed enough.

        But, one must not forget Birth by Sleep Volume II. It was actually IN a game, and its confirmed nothing will be done with it unfortunately.

    WELP, guess I’ll finally be playing Re:CoM then. Never got it around these here European parts, but it’ll be interesting to see how well the battle system transitioned from 2D to 3D.
