The Mighty No. 9 May See Kickstarter Stretch Goals For 3DS And Vita Versions

By Ishaan . September 4, 2013 . 12:30pm

The Mighty No. 9, a spiritual successor to Mega Man by Keiji Inafune, has amassed over $1.5 million in contributions on Kickstarter. As a result, the game is going to have a New Game Plus and Turbo mode added to it.

In addition, the game’s developers have commented further on the potential release of portable versions of the game for the Nintendo 3DS and Vita. Here’s what they have to say on that front:

Another message we have gotten loud and clear: A portable version of Mighty No. 9 is something many of you are excited about — and believe us, we would love to see it happen as well. Potential 3DS and/or Vita versions of the game are something we’ve been discussing since the earliest stages of this project, as handhelds are something our developers have plenty of experience with. Unfortunately, that experience tells us that these things cost money — however, the road to making them a possibility is relatively straightforward: If we continue to see more and more fans asking for portable versions of Mighty No. 9, and if we’re able to set and achieve stretch goals that would justify the cost, we would be thrilled to make this happen. In the meantime, we’ll continue watching for more feedback and start working up more detailed budgets just in case, so please continue to let us know how much of a priority this is for you. Thanks!

Earlier in the week, fans tweeted requests for a Nintendo 3DS version of The Mighty No. 9 at the game’s official Twitter account. Following the tweets, Renegade Kid’s Jools Watsham offered to help Comcept with the development of a 3DS version of the game.

  • Chaos_Knight

    Let’s get this everywhere.

    • J_Joestar

cool, it is no longer 2.5m for the console ports!
maybe Portable versions may get put at 2.5?

      • Carlos Luis Ayala

        PS4 version next XD

        • dragoon_slayer12

          Oh man *drool*

        • Learii

          I agree lol

        • Shady Shariest

Will likely come, as developing for PS4 is essentially the same as developing for PC… So they might not even need stretch goals for that :3

      • zaidandzhadow

Yup i also notice the change as i look through it

      • artemisthemp

I would guess that also, but what will PS4 be? 3M?

  • Ruins72

    Threedeez please!

  • TheExile285

This game needs to be on every system.

I’d like to play this on Vita so I can play it on the OLED screen with trophies.

    • Ric Vazquez

      My thoughts exactly

  • Giru HD

    Vita! Vita! to Vita pls!!!

  • dragoon_slayer12

If they make a Vita version (with or without cross buy/play), I will gladly donate $60. If they don’t do a Vita version (which I would be disappointed), I’d buy the ps3 (which I’m getting regardless if they make it happen) and 3ds version (if it happens) for the go. Shit, I’d probably buy all 3. I truly hope this becomes successful enough (post release) enough to become a series (imagine Mighty No. X)

  • $61526767

Damn.. so quick O-o *donates more money* MORE!

  • This would be a great game to have on either the 3DS or Vita. I think handheld systems are good for a lot of different genres, especially platformers like this. I know I’d definitely be down for a 3DS version.

  • G-Vita

That’s great , now everyone going to enjoy this game.

  • Warboss Aohd

i believe change in Japan’s Game Industry might be in da near future.

  • Kayseur

I’ll just add another “That’s a game I’d like to play on my Vita”. Well actually that’s a game I’d *only* play on my Vita. So bring it on !

(Or… on a 3DS as well, but I’ve yet to get it.)

  • Rytan

I’d want it for both 3DS and Vita, just because this kind of game needs to be in as many people’s hands as possible.

  • Terraforce77

Am I the only one wondering who will even have a PS3 or 360 TWO years from now? They should have made the game for P4/XOne IMO.

  • Juän Josë

    vita versión

    • Bigabu Beaze

That picture sums it up quite nicely.

    • Guest

      3DS version

  • hazelnut1112

This is great news, not the stretch goals but the harmony between Vita and 3DS owners working together to bring a game for their portable of choice.
Brings me tears of joy :’)

  • Demeanor

Never was a Megaman fan, but I’d buy a Vita version if the game is fun.

  • D. Collins

Man i love hearing the fans excitement for this game. Capcom did the Mega Man fans so wrong.

  • benhofb

I think a Vita version would be easy enough to port from the PS3 version, but a 3DS version would probably have to be built from the ground up… I really hope both are made though. I just can’t help but imagine how ironic it would be to play Might No. 9 on the 3DS – a device that could have received one of the coolest looking Mega Man games but didn’t due to “lack of interest.”

  • Richard N

I look at this and then I look at Project Pheonix, which has just as much star power behind it and can’t help but wonder why this one is doing so much better. My guess is that Mighty No. 9 actually has some decent gameplay screenshots and we see what the game will look like. While Project Pheonix just had a ridiculously hype ass trailer and we still don’t know what the game is actually gonna look like.

    • Chris Evan Jonance Ingeniero

sadly no: the hype in Mighty no. 9 is due to the fact that all the Megaman Fans and even Closet Megaman Fans have band together to finaly revive the great blue bomber

  • Valtiel Ikari

anybody knows where can I sel my soul so I can get enough cash to donate the SH!T out of it?

  • Wonder what’s the mystery reward at an adjusted 2.5M stretch goal? The game having a choice of original and arranged soundtrack composed by the Protomen to toggle in-between?

  • Arcana Wiz

many say 3ds, but i think this game is perfect to the Vita, but i hope that it gets in every possible system and it sell a lot.

  • leingod

Yeah, Vita! I’m totally upping my backing for this to happen.

  • RichyGaming

Surprised by the amount of vita owners here… :D

  • James Enk

i would love this on the WiiU

  • He’ll why not! 3DS 3DS 3DS! Also due to the one fact Nintendo consoles have kept MegaMan relevant after all these years. Zero, BattleNetwork, and Starforce. Mighty makes sense on 3DS!

  • zaidandzhadow

This game is gonna sell gazillions of $$$ right in Capcom’s face

  • the_rain

vita version please and no touch/swiping implementation that otherwise don’t make sense.

  • LogicIncarnate

I’ll pick this up on Wii U & 3DS if it makes the stretch goals for them.

  • Aristides

    Yes! Give us Vita!!!

  • Zonder88

    2015 couldnt come sooner.

  • Guest
