Good to see the Wii still getting support even if it is an MMO Dragon Quest and I would like to see the next console or portable main series Dragon Quest sometime soon.

It’s a good call for Square Enix to continue to support all three platforms.

Of course it getting supported it has the most users.

I’m really starting to think Square-Enix has given up on Dragon Quest in the West. I hope I’m wrong. Please prove me wrong, SE.

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

      yeah Please

I’m still hoping. We didn’t see FFXI over here until well after the first expansion came out.

Square has long given up on DQ in the west, as Nintendo was the ones who localized the last few games. And I don’t blame them if they don’t have the time or resources to worry about DQ right now.

well they can release DQVII on the 3DS i think they can do that just fine

You make it sound so easy. Having someone translate it and implement the translation takes time and money. I wish they would though.

          • Yause

DQVII is tough because there’s so much text. If the DS remakes didn’t sell well, they’d surely think twice about translating a game that’s so much longer.

      • Yause

Localization was done by Square Enix. Nintendo published DQ because of their marketing muscle, but sales of the remakes underwhelmed everyone. I think DQVIII and IX sales were considered okay (but not great) though.

IIRC, the producers of DQX want to release the game overseas. However, they’ve suggested that it might need some retooling to suit different markets.

Making it not subscription based ?

          • InfectedAI

Sounded like more than that from what I read. More like Americanizing it or something.

So when the wiiU actually start getting decent sales I wonder will Square localize this game….maybe not since DQ doesn’t seem to do well in the u.s
