Etrian Odyssey Untold Shows Off Classic Mode In A New Trailer

By Ishaan . September 11, 2013 . 12:30pm

As detailed in previous reports, Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl will feature two modes—a Story mode with fixed characters and a greater focus on story with animated cutscenes, and a Classic mode, where you’ll be able to create your own party, just like in previous Etrian Odyssey games.

This afternoon, Atlus USA shared a new trailer for the game showing off Classic mode. Classic mode is an upgraded version of the original Etrian Odyssey, with gameplay improvements from Etrian Odyssey IV, as well as updated music. Watch the trailer above.

Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl will be available in North America on October 1st for the Nintendo 3DS.

I’m super excited by this but I can’t help but feel like this game is going to get completely over shadowed by Pokemon’s imminent release.

    • LunarKnite

Agreed. But I’m definitely picking this up. EO4 is my favorite game on my 3DS and this’ll definitely be a great follow-up.

      • mojack411

I’m still playing EO4. Have no idea when I’ll ever finish it haha. I will get EOU eventually, but for me Pokemon will take priority.

        • LunarKnite

Haha, same here. I’ll probably end up getting both on release. Promised myself I wouldn’t buy anything this month to save up for X/Y, EOU, and RF4…and Wind Waker HD.

…no wonder I’m always out of money.

    • Suicunesol

Agreed. If it were me, I’d have Nintendo do another special offer where if you buy EOU, you’ll get $20 to $30 eShop credit towards Pokemon X or Y.

…not that this would help me, since I’m getting a retail version.

Both Pokemon and Etrian Odyssey IV are issues for this release maybe. I’m someone who would take EO over Pokemon any day of the week… but I’m still working on the last one.

Story mode = Insta-Buy. Breathing fresh life into the franchise mechanics is a good thing!

I just bought copies of EO I & II this week. Granted I’ll still never finish EO III. :_:
Will there be paid DLC for this like FE AND SMTIV? Does EOIV have paid DLC?

    • konsama

EO4 doesn’t have DLC, what it had was the QR code gifts and quests released on the site, twitter and facebook. Which were more like events.

My guess is EOU will work on same principle.

    • AkuLord3

Yeah cuz the games NEVER had story…oh wait

  • TheGioG

Dammit fall season, its come down to either Pokemon Y Edition and Etrian Odyssey Untold or paying for college books this quarter. Gimmie a sec here folks, trying to prioritize…………………………..Etrian Odyssey it is then. >:)

  • Klarktastic

Not sure I’m gonna bother with classic mode, I already beat EO1…

  • Anyone know how many save slot this game have?I want to play both classic and story mode without having to delete any saves…

    • celery

Only one save file, sadly :c
