Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies Release Set For October In The West

By Ishaan . September 17, 2013 . 10:00am

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies has a release date in North America and Europe. The game will be released in both regions on October 24th as a download title via the Nintendo eShop.

Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies will cost $29.99 in North America and EUR24.99 in Europe. The game features the return of defense attorney Phoenix Wright as lead protagonist, although Apollo Justice will be a playable character as well. Other returning characters include prosecutor Miles Edgeworth and Pearl Fey.

Capcom say they will also have details to share regarding the additional “Turnabout Return” DLC chapter of the game soon, as well as costume DLC.

Food for thought:

Athena appears to have picked up a few habits from Phoenix and Apollo…

No! Come back to us! How will you play the game if you’re deeeeeaaaad?!

      • SuperSailorV

By being channeled by a Fey, I guess!

      • …That actually means a lot to me ;_;

  • Last Star

Damn it, I need a hacked Mason System so I can leap to Oct. 24 to play the game!

  • ffboi7

Sigh take my money supporting my favorite series is too important

  • Guest

Too bad it’s not translated for european countries.
    I’ll buy it anyway !

  • mewcus

    lovely game!
now to find time between pokemon and zelda(in november)

  • AlteisenX

    Finally a release date… About time….

  • Any confirmation of a UK price? I sense a mean £29.99.

    • Lusankya

Yeah, right, when it’s 24.99€ and eShop prices are never the same in € and £.

      • Well being someone that doesn’t buy digital titles often and certainly not on Nintendo systems I wouldn’t know this. Can’t tell if you were trying to be sarcastic or not, but it didn’t work in this instance if you were.

I’m still buying the game regardless as I wanna support it, I just like to know what I’m gonna have to drop is all as I’ve already got Pokemon X to pay for too. Need to plan ahead.

Just glad Rune Factory 4 hasn’t got a UK release date yet. Couldn’t afford all 3.

        • British_Otaku

I’m hoping that Capcom go for £19.99, but then we would undercut the price for Europe in general by a bit…

We’ll see but I don’t expect them to hit us with a mean £29.99, it’ll probably sit on the £24.99 zone which honestly feels harsh for a digital game like this (specifically meaning that I’ve spent less for more) on Nintendo’s digital platform.

We are able to change the region of our store at will to the French store or Australian store iirc, so we could pick the best deal even if the Euro will make prices balanced for them.

  • wasad

Oh man, Pokemon on the 12th and then Ace Attorney on the 24th.
    I need it now, though!

  • AuraGuyChris

    ~ Peeeeearls! ~

  • idrawrobots

For something I would like to see do well, this seems like a horrible time to release it.

  • Tristan Diaz

Couldn’t they release it a little earlier? I’m surprised I’ve held on to those $30 Nintendo gave me for this long.

    • OneOkami

Be happy it’s releasing here at all :P

      • Tristan Diaz

No one said I wasn’t happy, and I could just easily import it too if I wanted but I’m being rather patient. Just considering the fact that it is download only, I’m just questioning Capcom as to why they couldn’t release it around the end of this month. They’ve got a very strange way of doing things…The 24th of this month would have been reasonable if you ask me.

    • A little earlier would be even worse. Pokemon X & Y say hi.

      • Tristan Diaz

If it was released this month it wouldn’t have been bad…The game comes out 12 days after Pokemon…It’s going to be hammered in sales.

  • YoshEE

finally!!!! but dam so many good games on oct lol

  • cbellevie

EO:U, Pokemon and now this? October overload!

  • Wafflenaut

Pokemon, Etrian Odyssey, AND Ace Attorney. Thank goodness this is my birthday month.

    Ace Attorney :D
    So hyped for this!

    Ace Attorney :D
    So hyped for this!

  • SailorDark

Pokemon, Ace Attorney, and Batman, October keeps on getting better! I am worried though because Ace Attorney is most likely going to be eclipsed by Pokemon and Batman which could affect sales in a bad way.

    • Don’t forget Etrian Odyssey: Millenium Girl!

      • SailorDark

No offense to Etrian Odyssey, but Batman and Pokemon are among the more popular game series that are releasing that month and will probably be seen as more of a threat when it comes to competition.

        • jugss

          and Rune Factory 4

        • Suicunesol

You don’t mean Batman Blackgate? Gosh I hope not. I would hate to see a Batman sidescroller take away AA or EO sales.

          • SailorDark

I meant Batman Arkham Origins but Blackgate could be somewhat of a threat as well.

  • yes! cant wait

  • Pockystix

    Ouch my wallet

    October is gonna hurt lol

  • fairysun

And here I thought I am done with 3DS games ….

I felt the biggest chill down my spine when I read this ♪♫ Just one more month ♪♫ And with this I won’t finish my monograph anymore…

  • Aoshi00

The localized screenshots look good, as usual w/ past Ace Attorney games :)

That’s just 1 month away, leaves me a little time to finish it (been playing it bit by bit).. I’m on case 5 now. I finished the extra orca case too. Really great characters and cases. Everyone need to day 1 this w/ their SMT4/FE:A $30 e-shop credit :)

Kokone/Athena’s heart scope is fun and everyone gets to have a lot of screen time.. I wanna see how Yugami/Blackquil’s lines are translated the most :)

    • British_Otaku

Kokone’s heart scope is fun? I was afraid that after Apollo’s ability not being very engaging they would have two abilities which don’t feel fun.

Did they change up how AJ’s “Sharingan” works so we aren’t picking through every bit of text and zooming on to every part of the body to be sure?

I wish I got that SMT4/FE:A credit but SMT4 isn’t even out or with a date for Europe. >_> I’ll probably finish the 5 cases before the Orca case, it just feels right to finish them in the order they were released even if that case precedes everything and it probably detached from the core story.

      • Aoshi00

yeah, the heart scope is pretty engaging, w/ Kokone analyzing people’s state of mind during their testimonies. We get a little of Apollo’s wristband and Phoenix’s psyche lock action too. I wasn’t too crazy about it in 4, but now I kinda missed it lol..

I was playing the Orca case while I was in the middle of case 3,4, & 5. But I thought I would finish the side story first and then go out w/ a bang w/ the epic ending. Even though they say it’s bridging 4th & 5th game, it really is a standalone case..

The 3D animation is very well done, and there’s a lot of 2D animation too, but I went back to play AJ & Investigations, I missed the well drawn sprites. I was playing the game slowly w/ 3D turned on most of the time, maybe that’s what got my eyes tired lol.. I’d be playing the Eng ver on my XL though, so maybe that would be easier on the eyes..

Too bad you still don’t have that in Europe.. I was saving the credit for this, and now it’s like getting this for free :)

  • LegoBaka

    Holy yin-yangs it’s Pearl…

  • October… it’s either hell or heaven for 3ds owners depends on how you see it..

BTW Athena is damn hot XD

  • wahyudil

Trouble with e-shop, region error … can’t download games or apps … goodbye PW5 …

    • British_Otaku

EDIT: Looking at this post again, it is totally written as if you are in Europe and chances are it’s the same whether you are in Brazil as well. Just pick the United States or United Kingdom with the instructions in the fourth paragraph.

I had that problem when my little brother experimented with the country of his 3DS… “This service is not available in your region.”, right?

For whatever reason, Nintendo don’t let people play online or go on the e-Shop (of any language) if you don’t choose the main countries like England, Australia (probably), France and so on. I should probably experiment sometime and make a list of which regions work or something if no one else has done it…

Anyway, I recommend you change your settings by going to the Settings, Other Settings, Profile – > Region Settings and picking United Kingdom -> England. You should be fine now… Enjoy the e-Shop, help yourself to some demos and look forward to AA5.

Thanks for reminding me that the problem exists though, Capcom will find out the hard way that digital distribution for a game with physical production values won’t reach many hands. The pricing is higher than most things (some stuff is free), not everyone can access the e-Shop with their 3DS (they could just accept it instead of finding out how to fix it – most people on the net can use it without a problem) and only people with a system can buy the game (I bought The Wonderful 101, I have no Wii U).

  • Göran Isacson

As someone who isn’t overly interested in Pokemon, this October release suits my purposes juust fine. As for if it suits the purposes of capcom who wants to see this game sell on the other hand, welll…. we’ll see about that.

  • October!? Omg… My poor wallet! So much pain! At least I can use my birthday as an excuse :D
