No New Final Fantasy XV Info At TGS, But Nomura Will Appear In Interview

By Ishaan . September 17, 2013 . 8:30am

Square Enix will not be sharing any new Final Fantasy XV information at this year’s Tokyo Game Show; however, director Tetsuya Nomura will appear in Sony’s “Conversations With Creators” series of interviews, where he will talk about the game.

The news was reported by FF Reunion, and the information reportedly comes from a newsletter from Sony’s PlayStation Community website. This will be the first time since E3 that Nomura will be talking about Final Fantasy XV.

To just what extent Nomura will talk about the game in his interview is unknown, considering he warns that there are many things he can’t discuss yet. Final Fantasy XV is in development for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Will this game ever come out?

    • Ronldbx6

  • Ryujin

Well, damn it. FFXV was one of the games I really wanted to see in action at this TGS.

  • EX+

WTF? When will the next trailer be then? Jump Festa? Dammit!!
I just wish LR would just come out, because it’s getting in FFXV’s way! DAMN!!
There better be some new footage in that interview, running on the PS4. And Jump Festa better have loads of footage and long ass trailers of FFXV and KH3. I get that they shouldn’t rush them and they shouldn’t but at least give us info in one of the biggest gaming events in Japan.

    • DivinePhoenix69

Except LR and FFXV are being developed by two seperate teams, so no, LR isnt holding XV back in any way.

      • StaticDestroyer

I think they mean in the way the SE will want media attention on the game they’re about to launch rather than one that’s still a ways off yet. I think Nomura has previously said something to that effect.

  • Katboy

amazing…I never got to play the two biggest final fantasy games I wanted to play this did square-enix survive this gen?

    • Barrylocke89

With help from their good friends at GREE ;)

    • Skeptika Crediblus

      Short answer? Phone games.

      • GH56734

Smartphones and microtransactions/DLC are the worst thing that could have happened to the videogame industry. (I blame Gachapon and Pachinko-based games, for the Japanese side)..
Even those pre-2009 Japan-only cell-phone games had some high quality standards, but now.. It’s entirely different.

Square Enix degraded most of the previously established franchise they had with mediocre spin-offs and reboots. Even DQ wasn’t safe.. and FF is so different now from its original spirit that they have to call games made in the earlier style by other titles (BD)…
Worst of all, their US branch forgot they’re a JRPG company.

  • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Can SE/Nomura be trusted? Maybe, maybe not. We’ll see tomorrow when the festivities begin.

    • Steven Higgins

There’s a reason he’s called “Trollmura” He just loves to molest our minds.

      • NewestType

        No he cant be trusted.
He has never done anything notable and xv is just a farce. Xv is also never coming out apparently. So theres no reason to waste energy posting any responses to these types of troll articles that nomura crafts himself and sends directly to American gaming sites.

  • Well a trailer would’ve been nice.

  • Unlimax

Square-Enix Please tease something at TGS about PE franchise for the 15th anniversary if there was a anniversary ~

    • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

This this this a hundred times over!! We need more Aya Brea for this upcoming next gen!

      • Ronldbx6

We need more Aya and Dissidia!

        • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Ehhh, I think we could use a few more FF games released before a new Dissidia. New protags and villians to fill the roster a bit.

… Or if they added characters from FFT, then I’d be all for it! #Ramza4lyfe

      • Lexaus_the_Alchemist

Just for clarification: the real Aya Brea, not “Aya” Brea…

And yes, there is a difference.

    • Ronldbx6

If so, they are going to give us The 4th Birthday. I wouldn’t mind anything.

  • abysswalker

Ok no new trailers, fine, I don’t mind as long as they take the time to ensure 0 deviation from the premise of the e3 announcement. Also take the time needed to achieve near perfection with XV. After all that hype we don’t need a rushed FF to get us jumping into next-gen just because its pretty graphics, we need a FF that becomes a watershed because of its gameplay and story, a FF that lives up to its promise since the time it was called Versus XIII.

    Remember SE: Quality, quality, quality.

    • EX+

Agreed. But we still have to nearby events that should show some info. Jump Festa and SE’s January press conference in 2014. If they have that, which they better. KH3 and FFXV info there please.

  • TheExile285

wow, so all the new gameplay was shown at E3 over TGS?

    man, times have changed…

  • Pfantzypantz

I’m really hoping for some more talk about the possibility of PC versions of XV and KH3.

    • EX+

Don’t think it’ll be coming to the PC and it definitely won’t be said in an interview about the PS4. KH3 is definitely no coming to PC. They haven’t said anything about a possibility. It most likely won’t be coming to PC for FFXV, since there has barely been any demand for it and you would need a very powerful rig according to Nomura, which doesn’t fly in Japan, due to mobile gaming being the big thing.

Not to derail this discussion, but Square has been making a big deal out of re-releasing FFVII and FFVIII on PC. There is absolutely demand, and anyone who thinks that Final Fantasy on PC wouldn’t sell in the west is out of touch with the market. Both XV and KH3 are being made on DirectX 11. It would be more surprising if they weren’t eventually released on PC.

        • SaveTheDay

I totally agree with that. I remember the famous interview in which Nomura said the game was created using direct X11.1. (so PC port maybe)
Plus, considering SE actual marketing strategy, it would be curious not to see them releasing ffXV on PC (maybe with a ~ one year delay).

        • Jah-keem York

Well I can’t see Kingdom Hearts 3 on PC, mainly because it would be a big jump right into the game’s conclusion of the Xehanort Saga. So I would be very surprised if Kingdom Hearts 3 came out on the PC even if it’s very possible. Especially without some form of a PC version of the KH HD games in some form.

However Final Fantasy XV is a fresh start, no longer carrying the XIII name. I can see Final Fantasy XV getting a PC release either same day, or a little later down the line. Especially with the new influx of Japanese games hitting the PC market in the West.

        • EX+

I get what you’re saying, but I just don’t think it’s gonna happen. It just doesn’t seem to me that whether or not it’ll sell in the west, it just won’t happen. SE Japan has shown me that apart from localisations, they don’t give a damn about the western market. Not saying it’s good or bad. Just Saiyan.
It really doesn’t need to be on PC anyways, seeing as western games are the things you want to be playing on the PC. Does it really matter whether or not it’s on PC? You’ve got FFXIV and Dragon Quest X. But I’m still gonna say that KH3 definitely isn’t going to the PC.

          • It really doesn’t need to be on PC anyways, seeing as western games are the things you want to be playing on the PC.

That must be why all these JRPG publishers have been bringing their games to PC of late. And why Dark Souls 2 is launching on PC alongside consoles. And why Namco is porting their Naruto fighter to PC. And why Inafune is doing Mighty No. 9 on PC. :P

            (Do you want more examples?)

Does it really matter whether or not it’s on PC? You’ve got FFXIV and Dragon Quest X.

FFXIV and Dragon Quest X are in no way a substitute for FFXV, and nor are they targeted at the same market. I agree that KH3 has less of a chance than FFXV, perhaps, but I would honestly be shocked if XV weren’t released on PC. There is absolutely a market for role-playing games from Japan on PC, and this has been proven time and again of late.

          • EX+

All right all right. I get it. Have it your way. But, those games are coming to PC. You haven’t seen the sales yet.

          • EX+

Wait, wait. There’s something I need to say.
You talk about Naruto and Mighty No.9. Those aren’t JRPGs. If Mighty No.9 goes to the 3DS, it’ll crush the PC version and the console versions. I don’t think many people will get storm 3 on PC, because it’s soooo bad.
And believe me, I’m not saying that there isn’t a market, I’m just saying that it most likely won’t be anything to brag about for profits. I haven’t seen any demand. That’s just me though. And how much did FFVII and FFVIII sell on the PC?

  • $61526767

  • SunOatBoatMatadorQuattro

Sad. Now I have no reason to be excited.

    • Anime10121

Well, I have MGSV and Lily boyufslhsmits from Grasshoppa, but, yeah, I can feels yo pains…

  • badmoogle

    Please be excited!

  • Kalis Konig

He will confirm FF15 for fall 2015 and kh3 for summer 2017. Damn you noumura! Lol

  • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

I don’t need a new trailer, but seriously no new info? Why should I even care what you have to say if it won’t tell me anything I don’t know?

  • Vesperion

And at E3 it felt so close, but now it feels far away

    • Anime10121

The flow of time is just correcting its marginal error of letting us THINK it was getting close :P

  • ffboi7

And now the waiting game all over again….. No info until next year guys D:

  • Ronldbx6

Even the the game was re-announced, it’s still never coming out.

  • Zangetsu777

    And of course this happens

  • Sentsuizan_93

To be fair, I wasn’t expecting new FF15/KH3 news so fast. Especially 3 months after E3. I guess there’s a better chance next year.

    • Anime10121

      Never stopped em before :(

      • Rayhan PromisedGallery

maybe Xehanort went back in time and delay those two games

        • Anime10121

Yes it’s Xehanort its always mother Frekin Xehanort :P

    • gold163

Why, it almost sounds as if you’re being reasonable!

  • Anime10121

Ok, I always new TGS would be Light’s show, but I at least figured we’d get a trailer of XV, ESPECIALLY considering they boldly stated that they were finally going to be more open with fans now that its been re-revealed.

    • nado92

I feel like those are empty words now, i’ve been waiting on this game since they talked about it in 2006. I feel like they need someone else in charge to make them realize they’re making a mistake

      • Anime10121

Thing is, they HAVE someone else in charge and things have not changed one bit. :(

        • nado92

I feel like if they don’t start making any progress then their company is going to fold. And we really have a “final fantasy” again. I feel like they’re stuck in the 90’s

          • Anime10121

Oh they are making progress, just not in the areas is “traditional gamers” would like. Their mobile games, comic labels, play arts figures, etc. etc. are more than enough to keep them from folding. If anything, it’ll BE traditional console games that’ll be their downfall, especially with the long as all hell development timeframes most of their games take.

          • nado92

and they wonder why they lose money lol. long wait times doesn’t make for happy gamers. At this point i’ll just be happy if they release it all

          • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

Can’t forget FFXIV, their new cash cow, and believe me, my server has become full of 90 Day Subscription bonuses. Thats $41 for each one. If it’s happening on mine, it is on others for sure. A rough estimate could be 100k people subscribe to 90 or more since its at a reduced price when you buy more, thats $4.1 million. I personally went with 180 for $77 and a lot of goodies. Hoping the special 180 days is uber when revealed at 2.1 Patch! :)

    • nado92

I feel like those are empty words now, i’ve been waiting on this game since they talked about it in 2006. I feel like they need someone else in charge to make them realize they’re making a mistake

  • NimbusStev

So they’re going to interview him about FFXV but there will be no new info? I’m expecting a lot of “we can’t reveal that just yet.”

  • Martian Wong

I am confused. There will no new information about FF 15, but in the Conversation with Creators, he will talk about the game. How can he talk about the game without sharing new information?

    • Anime10121

The convos with the creators is something entirely separate. It’s conducted by Sony themselves and is usually on PSblog before anywhere else (which is exactly why I feel this interview will just be a rehash of something already talked about in Famitsu or something).

  • Tiramii

    But but I wanted some new stuff. ;___;

  • HerosLight
  • gold163

Given these reactions, they really shouldn’t have re-announced this game until it was already finished.

  • RandomMuhFucka

  • Dagobert

Wait… So no new info right? That doesn’t mean no new footage though unless they consider gameplay footage as info as well. Either way, if theres no new footage, I hope Atlus shows us Perona 5 for TGS.

    I did see this coming

  • shuyai

SquareEnix basically mean”buy FXIII lighting then we will talk”

  • Heropon

oh ho , I knew it . This game will not release until 2022 .

  • ShadowDivz

…Thank god, i don’t get excited anymore or else i’d be disappointed.
Im just gonna wait for an official release, after that follow this simple guide:

    Go buy a PS4
find out the game gets delayed by one year
    rage on the internet
    rage in real life
    rage at school
    wait one year
    enjoy the game
    only to find out
    …it’s only 10 hours long.

  • りんごタルト@エスカのアトリエ

Cancel the damn game already, Squeenix.

  • doctorpope181

There always Kingdom Hearts III to look forward to :]
