Final Fantasy Agito Gets A Full-Length Trailer At Tokyo Game Show

By Ishaan . September 21, 2013 . 11:45am

Following it’s 30-second teaser trailer earlier in the month, Square Enix have released a full-length trailer for Final Fantasy Agito, the smartphone game based on the world and characters of Final Fantasy Type-0. Watch it below.

Final Fantasy Agito will be a free-to-play game with a feature that lets players decide on the direction of the story. This will come in the form of a decision system by which you’ll have to make choices at turning points in the story, which will be reflected throughout the game.

Final Fantasy Agito is slated for release this winter on iOS and Android devices.

Neat! Not sure about the f2p thing, though.

  • new_tradition

I’m trying to figure out if I just saw any Type-0 spoilers O.O

If it’s coming in English on Android while still being free, I can’t think of a reason to pass on it.

The onscreen hearts confuses me, though. It’s not involving our character romancing others, is it? ‘Cause I’d be so down with that xD

    • Andres Pena

isnt this the dating sim they did a while ago, if it is then that would explain the hearts..

      • supervamp

It’s likely a system thats similar to any sort of “connect with your team mates”.

    • InfectedAI

There’s plenty of reasons to pass on free to play games. Many are downright unplayable or unenjoyable unless you spend absurd amounts of money on them. That being said, I’ll hold of on judging it for that until we know how they plan to monetize it.

And this is an alternate retelling of Type-0. So there might be spoilers there.

      • supervamp

Many? I’ll need you to verify that, unless its something on facebook level of f2p i don’t really get that.

        • InfectedAI

No, I’m not talking about Facebook. Just free to play in general. There’s a reason free to play has a bad reputation and many people will avoid a game as soon as they learn it’s free to play.

While there are some decent ones, a very large portion are designed around continually sucking money out of the player. Like Star Wars: The Old Republic, DC Universe, many games by Aeria and Perfect World Entertainment, etc.

          • supervamp

I haven’t payed anything once for either dc universe or star wars, they do cut content but not enough that you can’t play through the whole thing to where you are forced to play. It also depends on what aeria and pwe game you are talking about.
So no not all f2p games are the same nor do they all function the same.

          • InfectedAI

DCU’s credit cap makes half the game about micromanaging your cash limit. It makes things like raiding a complete chore having to save garbage that takes up item space so you can spend money on repairs then sell the garbage, then spend more money on repairs. It makes many aspects of the game harder and more stressful than they should be.

I don’t even know where to begin with Star Wars. It’s a great example of how you don’t do free to play. Extreme limits on free players including not even being able to use purples. Cosmetic items that can make you look like a different class than what you are. And the way things are setup you can forget about PVP.

          • supervamp

I don’t particularity like raiding in any game so it didn’t bother me, star wars had a way more restricting f2p model then dcu but i still didn’t pay to anything. That and what does the cosmetic item have to do with anything?

          • Ty Austin

I can understand why SWTOR and DCU find other ways to charge people. They need to make money somehow to keep the servers running, pay their staff and create new content.

          • InfectedAI

Oh I’m not against paying money at all. I’m against getting ripped off. Of course the games need to make money. But there are good ways to do it and bad. Many games go for the bad. DCU for example completely neuters you if you aren’t paying 15 dollars a month with a credit cap. It makes over half the game about micromanaging your restrictions rather than playing the game.

If it didn’t have a credit cap I would pay for every single expansion, extra character slots, more item storage, etc. But because it’s a complete ripoff they’ll never see a dime from me. I’m not going to play a game that’s stressing me out with all it’s restrictions when there are better alternatives. Games are supposed to be fun, not a chore.

  • eilegz

wth its this a dating sim =/

    • アティ

      Yup, A dating sim
Where you and your lover use magic to overkill monsters for your first date XP

    • wererat42

Just because something has ADV elements doesn’t make it a – to use a better term – visual novel.
The term dating sim is a misnomer in most cases unless it is something like Tokimeki Memorial.

    • Kittymimiko

It’s our chance to date Ace!!… Oh wait…

  • Curan_Altea

Dammit, I really want this. Don’t have a platform to play it on though….. Yet.

And I hate this trailer for making me remember all those emotions Type-0 caused me to feel.

    • Daniel blue

I hate it for making me remember all the emotions I was supposed to feel if the game ever came to the West >.<

    • mace

      bluestacks droid emu for pc

  • Chaos_Knight

Damn, this game looks so good.

  • alixraen

I had no idea Queen, Deuce, and Cinque were lax bros. Niiiice.

    • ShadowDivz

      lax bros?

  • mojack411

    >Free-to-play
    >Smart phone app
So how much am I going to have to pay to actually enjoy the game? How many micro-transations will there be?

    • Brandonmkii

If they’re smart, it’ll be between 0 and as many as you want.

    • supervamp

Considering how other square enix f2p games are none unless your desperate

      • outlawauron

Other Square F2P games aren’t as bad as most F2P, but in order to be very competitive, you have to spend $$ (or just be incredibly lucky).

        • Thatguy

          Final Fantasy: All the Bravest.

          • Ferrick

between all the bravest and airborne brigade, which is much more cash draining ?

          • supervamp

Neither played both didn’t spend anything.

          • outlawauron

I thought All the Bravest was $3, but I could have had that wrong.

          • Thatguy

Erm… no. Full price of FF:AtB is… how many character can you buy?… Well, point is, you can’t beat game without that characters.

          • yomachaser

Is hilarious fun if played right and (I know I’m gonna get crucified for this) has a modicum of skill if you dig deep enough.

The total cost of FF ATB is 40 or so bucks if you get obsessed with it AFAIK.

    • ShadowDivz

If you don’t want to do micro-transactions get ready to bleed alot of hours into it.

      That’s what i do.

  • http://visualnovels.ge/ James Darkly

Did I just heard Sugita’s voice?

  • Daniel blue

This thing is never going to run smoothly on my phone. It looks really good on a technical level.

  • iamakii

    Now where is Type-0?

  • shuyai

why did square enix made the leg rectangular? XD

    • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

Limitations of phones/tablets graphical processing power.

      • yomachaser

The real answer is budget but sure lets mock phones.

        • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

No mocking of phones at all, their graphical processing power pales in comparison to even 3DS and Vita. Even that of a PSP for many phones. Budget may be part of the problem, but capability is definitely a factor.

  • charles addow

What the hell happened to type-0? I have been waiting patiently for them to remove their heads from the chocobo’s asses. Must be pretty comfy in there. -__-.

  • Enma_Kozato

I’m already anticipating a bittersweet ending for the player character, but maybe I’ll be wrong.

  • ShadowDivz

I will believe it’s coming here when i see a release date.
Or it’s actually in the googleplay store.

  • Jero

Looks way better than I expected, I hope it gets to our market I think I’m secured with my phone so I’ll give it a try when it comes out.

  • deadMastershiro

Those are some happy bloody people.

  • Airgetlam

The trailer had pretty big spoilers in it no? Not that Type-0 will actually be released in the west or anything.

  • Sydney Losstarot

I hope it gets localized and onto PSM later or I will be missing out…..again

  • Anon-non

I’m confused, is this a retelling of Type-0 or a prequel? Sequel?

  • Troublehalf

Shame it probably won’t reach the West. Type-0 didn’t, probably because of OMG PANTY SHOTS. Anyway, if this did come over to the West and allowed same-sex dates, I’d be interested. Gotta love yuri based everything….

  • Silent

Just bring Type-0 to the West, instead of teasing us with that iOS privilege.

  • yomachaser

The type 0 hate machine needs to just go away because this game is 1- sick looking and 2- probably the best path to getting t0 in the West.

    • Steven Higgins

      Type 0 hate machine?
The only complaint I’ve seen is that it wasn’t localized, which is like, the exact opposite of hate.

  • Steven Higgins

Looks great, but I don’t wanna die for it.
