Hometown Story Collector’s Edition To Be Released In November

By Ishaan . October 7, 2013 . 11:00am

Hometown Story, a spiritual successor to Harvest Moon, developed by the creator of that series, is being released in October in North America. If you’re interested in holding out for a collector’s edition of the game, however, Natsume plan to release one later in November.

Pre-ordering the regular version of Hometown Story at various retailers will get you an Ember plushie with the game. The colour of plushie that you get will depend on the retailer you pre-order from. This version of the game is slated for October 22nd.

Meanwhile, the collector’s edition of the game will go up for pre-order on Natsume’s online store later this month. The collector’s edition will come with a Pochica plushie—Pochica being your magical sprite partner in the game.

Hometown Story is also headed to Europe, courtesy of Rising Star Games. The European version will be available in Q1 2014.

I have a mighty need for the Pochica plushie.

  • Malon

    I mean…

    The plushes look fine.

  • Tylor Boreas Makimoto

I’ll actually have a job by then, so cool.

  • ronin4life

October was scary looking enough without this…
So I will gladly wait till November.

I really don’t think they should be calling this a “collector’s edition”. They will literally just take the retail game and stick it in a brown shipping box with this plush in a plastic bag. That’s what they did on the recent 3DS Harvest Moon game with a giant cow plush.

    • British_Otaku

Why not? The plushes are probably in a very small run hence limited and it comes with the game, likely not sold separately.

While I would like a nice box for the whole package, which takes it beyond being a preorder bonus in bubble wrap, this is pretty high up there. Functionally, it doesn’t really matter what it comes with or how it is sealed as much it being limited and an effective incentive for early buyers…

It’s just a different preorder bonus. If you preorder from the Natsume store, you get this plushie. If you preorder from Gamestop, you get a different and smaller one. This different preorder bonus doesn’t make this a collector’s edition anymore than the exclusive bonuses at Gamestop and Amazon make those “collector’s editions”. Clearly I’m not the only one who feels that way as people above are just as confused about why the preorder bonus makes this a collector’s edition.

        • British_Otaku

I reread the article, I understand now. :P

It doesn’t seem that they are considering the preorder bonuses to be a limited edition though and are saving the main course for November.

I do understand that Pikmin 3 + a Key Ring isn’t a limited edition lol. >_> However, I don’t see it in the marketing on this page or the Facebook page.

It isn’t a little crazy manipulative to show all of the preorder bonuses with the limited edition plush to push people to buy from multiple stores multiple times.

        • kthanxyousuck

The giant plushie can only be gotten through Natsume’s store, therefore it is probably in a more limited quantity than the colored ones.

And they’re not saying this plushie is a preorder bonus like the others. They said preorders will open for the collector’s edition which comes along with it. Which means you will probably still be able to get it even after it releases.

  • GameTaco

Well, I certainly didn’t see this coming. I’ll wait for more information before I do anything about this, though. If it turns out retailers won’t even be getting the collector’s edition, then I’m not going to bother.

Hopefully it at least comes with an art book and a mini-soundtrack or something. If it’s mostly just $10 more for a different plush, then I’m afraid I don’t see the point. Isn’t the pre-order dragon plush a collector’s item itself? :P

  • Will Jay

Well, I guess I’m waiting for the collector’s edition. I’d spend ten extra for the Collector’s just to get the Pochica plush instead.

Plus that’ll give more time for other stuff.

  • Sentsuizan_93

The cutest way to make a wallet empty…

  • $36598391

Really Disappointed the Blue one is only available through E3

  • celery

Both plushies are really cute @[email protected] but I think I like the Pochica a little more…so, save money, or get cuter plush? D:

  • 3PointDecoupage

Wait, a limited edition in th US or just Japan?

    • In the US, ordered from Natsume’s store.

  • Learii

    I already per-order the game

  • Not sure if I wanna pay an extra $10 just for a different stuffed animal, even with Pochica being as cute as it is.

    • kthanxyousuck

I think the extra money is because it’s twice the size as the other plushies.

      • I was considering that, and you’re probably right. I suppose it’s also that the other plushies are pre-order only and thus won’t always be available (if I understand right). so we really are just paying for the plushie.

Even knowing that, I still wish they did something a bit more special for the LE (a nice box to pack it all in, or a special cover, etc).

        • kthanxyousuck

Yes, it seems like this plushie will be available regardless of if you preorder it or not. I’m hoping it comes in a special box with the plushie (though that might be huge!) or something like that would be nice. Poster or something lol.

          • Yeah, haha, anything really~.

  • Alexandra Cordes

Cancelled my preorder immediately and am now eagerly awaiting this one. <3
