I have no idea who any of these characters are, yet I’m really pumped for this game.

A shame Aruru herself isn’t a playable character, you should see the power of her headbutts:

  • Dark Zerato

These cross-over game need more love in the west. Seeing those characters makes me so hyped.

The big problem is games like this are typically a licensing nightmare outside of Japan. The rights are usually split between multiple companies, provided the series included ever saw western release to begin with.

The fact this one is somehow seeing a US release is almost unbelievable. Probably a good thing they’re only using the Japanese audio, since otherwise they’d need to do recordings in Texas as well as L.A. (provided they wanted a faithful dub).

Ugh… Even the thought of the paperwork behind localization of this kinda game is dizzying :/

Is it still a licensing nightmare when Aquaplus/Leaf owns all the IP in the game? If a bunch of different companies had the rights over some of the games/IP and their distribution in the West, could them get in the way of the original company?

        • Spirit Macardi

          Yup, still could.

Just look at Tatsunoko vs. Capcom. They had to go through an INSANE number of distributors to get it localized, since the rights to the included series belong to numerous different holders here. Even though Tatsunoko ultimately owned the included series, they were not in control of the rights which were sold.

I would have prefered them using Benawi instead of oboro …
    but that’s no big deal

Let’s hope this is only the beginning of an Atlus-Aquaplus partnership.
