This weekend at New York Comic-Con, Activision and Beenox announced The Amazing Spider-Man 2 game, a sequel to the first Amazing Spider-Man movie game, slated for release in spring 2014.

Like its predecessor, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will only loosely involve the events of the movie. It will take place in an open-world Manhttan, and will allow one to play as both Peter Parker and Spider-Man.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is slated for release on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

surprised it isn’t being developed for Vita with the recently announced port of the first game

    • FitzpatrickPhillips

I guess they didn’t wanna take away from that port.

    • tubers

Hope that it would at least mean the VITA would get another “Ultimate” version later down the line but not a year late.

  • M’iau M’iaut

Guys keep the talk in here on the topic of the game.

  • Shady Shariest

    Good Guy Dev’s : A Wii U-version :3

    • PreyMantis

Then we find out that the game is stripped out of contents. And when the game sold poorly, the developers wonder why the game gets low sales on the Wii U.

      • Shady Shariest

Don’t own the console :3 (Realized that Vita was in the same state in sales…And decided to use sense from now on regarding consoles)

But will scream internally for all Wii U gamer’s if this gets stripped… In U.S this might be a system seller to some extent if done right. Could tip the scales for people who don’t wan’t to buy a console just for old classics. And in general say “Hey! This exists!” to public :3

      • subsamuel01

That and the fact that no one makes games for it expect Ubisoft and Nintendo.

  • Kaitsu

Can’t say much here. But does anyone else think the graphics look lower than it should be? I have the first game, and it looks so much better.

    • Shady Shariest

Might be just a presentation demo?

    • Rayshawn Davis

It’s been confirmed via-twitter that the trailer shown here is running on current gen consoles (PS3, 360, etc). So if you’re judging this video with the assumption of it running on Next-Gen hardware, then you’ll have to wait until a proper trailer or clip is put up.

On the other hand, if you’re judging this trailer without any of that as a base, then I’ll withdraw that comment. I remember thinking the same after seeing the first trailer for the first Amazing Spider-Man Videogame. But look look how the presentation turned out in the long run. It turned out pretty well ^_^

I have no doubts that the same will happen for this game. The only thing to truly wonder is if this game will be able to push the bar that the first game had already set.

      • EX+

Whew, thank god for that. Can’t wait to see the gameplay on Next-gen consoles.

      • Kaitsu

No, I didn’t judge this based on thinking it’s ran on PS4/Xbone. Re-read what I just said.

“I have the first game, and it looks so much better.”

    • abysswalker

I agree, the taillights of the Police truck at 0:27 look awful. Maybe it’s the trailer but it definitely looks worse than the first game.

  • Spider-Man

Costume is missing the belt-like part. Even the upcoming movie has it. Other than it, I hope the camera isn’t close to me this time. I prefer looking at myself from a distance, like in Web of Shadows, and Spider-Man 2-3, etc.

Didn’t like the closeup 3rd person view from Shattered Dimensions, Edge of Time and TASM 1.

Can’t argue with Spider-Man when it comes to Spider-Man-related topics.

    • subsamuel01

They were trying to imitate the Batman Camera, it makes sense when your walking, but when your swinging through the city they should pull the camera back.

  • heartless141

I’d prefer them to not use the batman battle system. use a lockon free combo thing like web of shadow or Spidey 2 on PS2 with environmental interaction if possible.

and yeah, pull the camera back a bit. give it a sense of speed and freedom.

    • subsamuel01

The Batman battle system was the only thing that got me to buy the game. I hope they just add to it, Batman`s gadgets made the combat more complex, hopefully they mix things up this time around.

  • British_Otaku

Aside from the combat, I hope the swinging is good like Spiderman 2.
It’s sad enough that another Spiderman movie licensed game did it all good before Beenox came to have a shot at the license, but we also have indie projects like Energy Hook (same designer as Spiderman 2) or the Attack on Titan fan game which know what they are doing without any real budget.

  • Valtiel Ikari

I just hope I can unlock the first movie costume, I actually liked that one.

  • MrJechgo

Well, it’s Beenox, so it should be ok… Still not that fond of the idea to be published by Activision though. They seem to rush every game out of the door that is not called “Call of Duty” lately.

    • Anime10121

Spidy’s been published by Activision since the at LEAST the PSOne days…

  • Barrylocke89

i remember Spiderman 2 the game being one of the better Superhero games out there. Maybe The Amazing Spiderman 2 game will continue the trend?

  • Chris Lane

I’m excited for this, the first one was a very fun game. I just hope they make this one longer.

  • Pdugna

Spiderman 2 web slinging mechanics….thats all you need

  • 3PointDecoupage

I’m glad they’re using the original costume.

  • Alberto Maytorena

    SpOck alternate costume plox.

  • Musashi234

….I hope this game doesnt Blow like the First one….So many things wrong with it i.e Having the Camera so DAMN CLOSE TO YOUR ASS WHEN YOUR WEBSWINGING!!!!!
