Watch_Dogs Delayed To Spring 2014

By Ishaan . October 15, 2013 . 11:32am

Open-world hacking game Watch_Dogs has been delayed to spring 2014, Ubisoft announced this morning via their developer blog. Ubisoft explain the situation thus:

We know a lot of you are probably wondering: Why now? We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune each detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.

Watch_Dogs is in development for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Wii U. The game has you playing as a vigilante named Aiden Pearce, who uses his smartphone to hack into Chicago’s central operating system to take control of the city.

This was going to be a day one purchase now I’m not sure. I have exams during the time this comes out so not sure if I will be able to play.

  • Thrasher429

Bummer was looking forward to buying it as launch title for ps4. Well if nothing else I guess it’s some extra money I could put toward that limited edition Zelda 3DS.

  • Lloyd Christmas

I usually don’t mind delays. Just means more time for the game to be polished.

    • ElAbuelo69

      Unless it’s FFXV…I want to play it already ;_;

      • Randgriz

Ive been playing FF XIV pretty much non-stop these days. More delays mean more FF XIV timeage for me lol

    • AkiraScare

Just means more time to beat all the games that i havent even opened yet (TT_TT)

  • DarthSithZero

Perfect, now my money goes to Batman Origns CE.

  • Godman

Great another game I have to add to my spring list, its not like I have Dark Souls 2 to deal with sarcasm

  • Wake

Ubi probably didn’t want it competing with Assassins Creed 4. I was looking forward to this, but I don’t mind the delay. Just tons of potentially great games later this year.

  • For me, I’m (slightly) happy with this news. Give me some time to get through some of my backlog.

  • michel

If this is the price for the game to be wonderful, then be it!

  • Wake

Wait. What happens to the people who pre-ordered the PS4 Watch Dogs bundle?

    • Kaseladen

A good question I’m still waiting for an answer on

      • dude above you answered it.

    • Tatsuya1221

Amazon and gamestop have said you’ll get the ps4 on the same date, amazon hasn’t said what they plan to do about the watchdogs part of it but gamestop has said that you can either keep WD preordered, you’ll still get the ps4 on time, but the game will be obtained when it’s released, or you can convert the WD part of it to other bundles and products.

  • Aoshi00

Was looking forward to this as a XB1/PS4 launch title.. but that’s Ok, for a game w/ such big scope, it’s good they take their time to polish it up instead of rushed release w/ constant patches, didn’t mind Drakengard 3’s delay either.. also just too many huge games to play like GTA5, AC4 BF, & Lightning Returns.. I don’t think I have time for next gen consoles yet..

  • Zangetsu777

LOL I didn’t see this coming.

  • roockie112

oh well my money goes to black flag now lol

more time in GE2 for me then

    • Not getting Drag On?

      • Ferrick

        that’s coming at december

        @Ferrick:disqus :p

        • Why aren’t you getting it?

          • Ni ~UNREAL BLACK THINGS~

i’m getting it. but GE2 comes in november. and since WD got delayed i’ll have a month before i’ll be able to play Drakengard 3. And since i’ll be in vacation i’ll have more than enough time to complete it (I hope)

          • Ah ok

          • You going to add me to your PSN so we can play GE2 when they add the patch?

          • Ni ~UNREAL BLACK THINGS~

Ni-GITS is my new PSN ID so go ahead

          • Kk

  • AuraGuyChris

As long as Spring 2014 isn’t filled to the brim with big name titles, unlike how Rayman Legends performed below expectations in every platform…

  • They’ve been talking about this game for such a long time, wonder what the delay is about

  • Areuto

All this means is more gta v for me

  • katamari damacy

Thank god, Fall 2013 was way too packed anyways

  • ShadowDivz

FFUUUU– Well, they are gonna fine tune the game. So i guess all is good.

  • Aristides

lol next gen might as well launch on spring 2014 for that matter, all the new IPs are launching then.

  • Gilgamesh2025

No problem, still having many games to beat yet!

  • haha they played or saw BEYOND and went “Ahhh fuck…” but it’s a good thing. they arent rushing something that people are gonna get and not like. they’re taking that extra time and giving it more TLC which is something a lot of companies could learn from *cough*squaresoft*cough*
