At long last, Sega have announced when one will begin seeing the enhanced Nintendo 3DS versions of their classic games in North America and Europe.

The magic date is November 28th. That’s the date Sega will release 3D Space Harrier and 3D Super Hang-On. Below is a list of dates for some of the other titles you can expect to see this fall.

3D Space Harrier, 3D Super Hang-On – 11/28/2013

3D Sonic The Hedgehog, 3D Altered Beast – 12/5/2013

3D Ecco the Dolphin, 3D Galaxy Force II – 12/12/2013

3D Shinobi III, 3D Streets of Rage – 12/19/2013

Each game has been enhanced with stereoscopic 3D visuals and will cost $5.99/€4.99/£4.49 on the Nintendo eShop.

I really like the 3D classics. I wish Nintendo would do more.

Also wish they would have just done Streets of Rage II instead.

  • Jean Alcantara

Needs more Streets of Rage IMO. The series has so much potential! They should make a 4th game. MAKE IT HAPPEN, SEGA!

  • Nice. I’m looking forward to 3D Space Harrier.

  • D. Collins

Ooooo Altered Beast im getting that

  • Oh man, yes, 3D Space Harrier at the end of November. Can’t wait.

  • GaiunxWolfenX

finally i know when am getting sonic and shinobi 3 in my 3ds XD

  • ecco! finally will get to play it and shinobi 3 this time i will finish it…… probably

  • Weeb

I’ve already played them all on my japanese 3DS. Super Hang On, Space Harrier and Galaxy Force II are all god tier ports with tons of features and 3D that actually works well with the gameplay.

Ecco the Dolphin, Shinobi III, Streets of rage, Altered Beast and Sonic Hedgehog are all really bare bones. The 3D is pretty decent on them but that all they have going towards them. Altered Beast isn’t even the arcade version and Sonic doesn’t even have any of the stuff the recent mobile port had.

Thanks for the advice! i have a question though: Streets of Rage has a multiplayer mode and if it does, does it has Download Play (thingie where you only need one copy of the game so you can play it anywhere)?

    • GaiunxWolfenX

does street of rage have local co-op? download play or regular play?

      • Weeb

No online multiplayer and I’m not sure if it has download play.
Nobody around me also has a Japanese 3ds so I can’t really test the multiplayer with the 3DS download play app.

There is a host game and join game function in the multiplayer section, so I assume you can only play with other people who own the game. If my Japanese was actually good, I’d probably have a straight forward answer for you, sorry about that.

        • GaiunxWolfenX

np, you did confirm that it has some sort of multiplayer so thanks for the info

i wish the original four Phantasy Stars would be turned into 3D Classics

    • Yeah, same. I like the idea of these in theory, but I’m not sure I care about any of the games. Any that I did care about (Streets of Rage), I’ve purchased multiple times and played to death.

I guess Phantasy Star IV and Shining Force II wouldn’t be flashy enough to make for 3D.

They have been taking their time for North America and Europe, but I must recommend anyone who has even a passing interest in the games offered pick them up. From my experience on my J-3DS, the 3D Classics (at least Sonic 1, Ecco the Dolphin and Space Harrier) are god tier ports as Weeb says, there is even the option to play Space Harrier by using the touch screen to move + shoot which feels engaging and multiple languages (at least for the Japanese versions) that mean you can play the Japanese AND English version of games.

  • 3D Shinobi could be fun.

  • Rytan

Just in time for Christmas. Aw yeah.

  • hazelnut1112

Gonna wait it our for Sonic 2 and Streets of Rage 2. Might get Shinobi III to start things out.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    YES <3

If they just re-re-released the Sonic Classic Collection on 3DS I’d buy it again.

  • Eric Harris

I really appreciate this, but the thing about releasing old classics is they will never release close to all your favorites. Especially when they are niche titles like, Willy Beamish, Rise of the Dragon, and Dark Wizard. I bought like 25 PSOne games for my PSPgo but I eventually just switched to playing them on my ipod,

  • Ric Vazquez

    What about Captain Commando?!

  • Shadowman

Yes! Sonic and Street of Rage are on my radar!
