Senran Kagura Burst Will Be Out In North America Next Week

By Ishaan . November 8, 2013 . 10:55am

Senran Kagura Burst is coming to Nintendo 3DS in North America, and it’s coming soon. Xseed announced this morning that the 3DS brawler is slated for release on November 14th via the Nintendo eShop. It will cost $30.

As reported previously, Senran Kagura Burst contains two games—Skirting Shadows, the first game in the series, and its story sequel, The Crimson Girls. Both games allow you to play as different ninja factions.

You can visit the Senran Kagura Burst website here to read up on the characters in the game and watch a trailer for the game below.

    $30? not bad

    • $30 seems to be the general digital-only price for 3DS games, since AA5 was that too. I guess it’s a decent separation, since usual games can be more like $40. And hey, this is two games in one essentially!

      • Yeah, if we could get games at $30 as the regular price, I’d be quite happy for everything to go all-digital. *dodges shoe*

        • British_Otaku

*Throws another shoe at Jesse_Dylan for disrespecting the physical distribution overlord*

I think prices need to crawl a little lower for me to consider digital an option on top of having accounts so that I can continue on another system.

          • I would agree with that. An account system is really essential. Can’t believe it still hasn’t happened. Also, digital versions should really be $10 less than physical anyway. But hopefully things are moving in that direction (account systems, decent download lists, lower prices).

          • But in the UK, you guys pay exorbitant prices on the eShop! 3DS games are at ludicrous retail prices, which I’d imagine go for less in the stores, but on the eShop they probably sell for the full, unreasonable retail price. I think you guys are paying 60% more than we are. I get the VAT thing. That’s fine. but beyond that…

          • British_Otaku

I’m hoping we get competitive prices on a Steam level someday, the closest thing to that with the 3DS is that some games get released on the eShop later like Rhythm Thief which was priced at $20 and 2,600 yen (I got it in Japanese, just for that and may double dip for a retail copy)… However in the UK, it costs £39.99.

SEGA of Europe must be ill to price it so poorly when their cousins got the idea.

I don’t really digitally buy games on my European 3DS actually, at least not retail ones. Japan’s eShop has put Super Street Fighter 4, Senran Kagura Burst, a lot of Level 5 games (Inazuma Eleven, Time Travelers, Danball Senki, Guild01, Guild02, Fantasy Life and Layton – temporarily) and Blazblue CS2 for competitive prices.

I can only imagine how bad the Brazilian taxes on digital games would be if they had a store. >_>

          • Yeah… Always worse somewhere else I guess. Whenever I feel annoyed about paying full price for something, I think of the UK prices on the eShop!

On the other hand, I’m jealous hearing about all the Level 5 stuff on the eShop I want. Really wish we’d get Fantasy Life at least. Alas!

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Again some places have cheaper digital than retail games.

            Like in the Mediterranean

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

In other place the Eshop is even cheaper than retail

      You sir are awesome

    • domonkun

I’m still trying to understand why the developer said that, lol

I mean, did he say that in broken English or something? :S

    what what next week?

this is so sudden, i am not ready for this yet… i have been waiting for a date eagerly … wow… but so many games… wait is it wise to release next week? PS4 xbone coming..

    • J_Joestar

tell me about it, between work, Pokemon, and Ace Attorney, i just don’t have the time for it this early into November >_<

I wonder if there are any early bonuses or if it makes no difference to wait a bit before purchase…

      • I cant get to it either, but I’m just gonna buy it anyway (which is what I did with AA5 too… and Pokemon…). Zelda coming really soon, too. Eek. I’ve been dying for a good side-scrolling brawler, though, so this one might jump to the front of the backlog if I’m being honest.

  • Suicunesol

I wonder how the eShop is going to promote this. Is it going to be advertised just like any other game, or is it going to be a more covert release?

    • British_Otaku

There isn’t any other way to promote a game on the e-Shop than a direct link on the front page or you having to use the search tools or filters.

Given that most games in general, never got spotlight on the front page of console online stores, I assume it is down to how much companies pay for marketing or something.

The game will be the one of the first things you see if you search all of the (digital/recent) releases in order anyway.

      • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Nintendo’s Eshop doesnt have payed slots.

They put games up there on rotation

        • British_Otaku

That so? Unfortunate that the only games I tend to see on the front page are usually Nintendo published or a pretty big deal (Monster Hunter, One Piece Unlimited World R and such).

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

They usually put up the new games and then showcase some older titles and indie games.

          • British_Otaku

EDIT: Just according that this is a long rant to read through, sorry for giving you the trouble.

The new games feel like they are chosen though and it is rare that those indie or older titles get spotlighted individually.

Currently on the Japanese 3DS eShop, Metal Max 4, Tamagotchi, Pokemon X/Y, Monster Hunter 4, Danball Senki Wars, Sentouchuu Battle for Money, Disney Magic Castle, One Piece Unlimited World R, Aikatsu Futari no My Princess, DreamGirl, Mighty Switch Force (it’s releasing next week), a collection of Sonic games, a collection of Mario games, 300 yen games, 1991 games, Band Brothers P, Darumeshi Sports Store, Mii games, Flipnote Hatena 3D, Hulu (two of three of the samples are from Pokemon with a trailer of X/Y), Metarot Dual, The Jump Anniversary game, Super Mario 3D World, Taiko Wii U, Wii Party U, Wii Fit U and Wii Sports Club are spotlighted on the front.

Many are first party games, many are first party Wii U games and nearly all of them are high profile games for Nintendo’s platform or a random list of games like “All games with a 5 Star Rating with such and such many ratings”. Given that you can see tons of games, applications and even digital manga coming up on the store it looks like they are targeting their own at least on the Japanese store.

The UK store? Professor Layton, Ace Attorney 5, Batman, Pokemon X/Y, KORG, Resident Evil sale, Regular Show, Animal Crossing, Nintendo Unleashed (Official Nintendo Magazine put out episodes supporting their key titles), Nintendo eShop Highlights, Games with Online Leaderboards, Sonic games, Platformers, Kirby games, Pokemon games, Indie Games, Streetpass games, The Year of Luigi, eShop Essentials, Applications and Wii U.

While it isn’t as blatant as the Japanese one, seeing projects which are already known to be pretty big, old titles up there like Animal Crossing and arbitary lists makes it seem like it is either deliberately picked to support themselves or sold space. It doesn’t feel like it is just “new releases” (which is admittably easy to click or search) but ones that they want to spotlight. There are games on sale which aren’t on the front page and may had never hit it.

Sorry for the long rant… >_>

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

Japan has less indies. The North American shop is different. You should also look at the WiiU E-Shop.

Hmm… let me go find the sheet they released detailing their eshop strategy

  • Cody

  • Mister_Nep

Yay! Eager to pick up this title. Good thing I picked up some points today.

  • big booty ninjas

  • Oh geeze, this is coming out next week? I actually wanna get this but I dunno if I’ll have the funds for it… it’s already struggle telling myself to spend $10 on HD Bowling, but $30 for a different game? Aaaaghh…

    • MoriyaMug

It’ll still be there when you have the money. Don’t strain your finances.

      • Haha, that’s true, I just feel like with games like this, the faster I can get it, the better it is for the company, since I know that the first month’s sales matter the most when looking at success. And I want more successes.

  • TheExile285

    Yay!!! ^________________________^

You guys can’t hear it, but my wallet is crying right now since I’m now buying 3 games and a new 3DS memory card next week…..

    • Kaetsu

What other games are you planning on picking up?

      • TheExile285

Importing God Eater 2 and Injustice Ultimate Edition

        • awat

kool , arent we getting the vita edition of this game??

          • TheExile285

Injustice? Yeah I’m buying the Vita version

    • Arcana Wiz

It’s okay i know the feel…. i’m really with a love and hate relantionship with my credit card ><

    • hazelnut1112

I bought an 8GB memory card last week for Revelations, and that took almost half the space of my memory card. Should have gotten a 16GB, but I think 8 is enough.

    • Shin

My wallet is bleeding profusely now :( having AFA here and now coming along with this :O

  • r0gamer940

any word on the size of this game I wonder if I have to buy a new sd card

    • Christopher Nunes

I believe it was 2GB, got to let me double-check on that but it’s no more than 4GB.

    • PenguinPlayer

They said it was 15000 if I’m remembering correctly. More than the size of the standard SD card.

  • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

    yes yes about time to

  • ZetaSiren

Hopefully this sells alot so XseeD will publish the vita one which is way better :)

    • TheExile285

      last 4 words were unnecessary….

      • ZetaSiren

Well if people enjoy this they’ll know that the next one will be even more enjoyable :)

        • OlimacFTW

Maybe is for tastes, but I don’t think so. The concept for both games are different, Burst is classic Beat’ em up style and Shinovi Versus is a Dynasty Warriors Wannabe.

          • ZetaSiren

True. True. You really can’t compare the two. I just personally enjoyed Shinovi Vs. more

          • MoriyaMug

SV is very unlikely without censorship, and given that XSEED generally dislikes dealing with that subject, the odds are not good.

          • ZetaSiren

            Which is so sad :(

          • TheExile285

Censor what? Its basically the same as Burst except it plays like dynasty warriors and not a side scroller.

XSEED didn’t censor anything with this or VK3 so I doubt they would have to with SV

          • MoriyaMug

The main difference is that SV’s “de-clothing” animations go down to full nudity. Not so with Burst.

          • TheExile285

Would you really call that nudity though? It’s censored

          • ShadowDivz

It’s not really up to us now is it? It’s up to ESRB or whatever.

          • TheExile285

            Dynasty Warriors Wannabe.

            *Sigh* Not really helping….

          • British_Otaku

It’s one thing or another, eh?
OlimarFTW could have just said “Dynasty Warriors esque” and it would had been neutral.

          • TheExile285

          • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

And all interest in it is gone.

      • hazelnut1112

As much as I hate to say it but he’s right. The Vita version looks so much better. I only have a 3DS and i know two people pestering me to buy it along with my two other friends so they can get a Vita localization. Needless to say I will be doing my part.

        • TheExile285

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion but this article has nothing to do with SV and now because of Zeta’s post we have a stupid and uncessary SV vs Burst thread.

          • ShadowDivz

            …..All according to keikkaku*

            *Note: keikkaku means plan.

          • Kumiko Akimoto

Well it’s just how it is for games that come first in a series versus games that come after, games that come after tend to have a more polish to them so they tend to be seen as better

    • Heisst

Actually Tom from XSEED who’s managing this game’s localization said he likes Burst more than SV.

  • KiTA

Man, I want it, but I usually play my 3DS on the bus on the way to work. Tooooorn.

    • J_Joestar

so? nothing to be ashamed of!

    • British_Otaku

I played Ages of Amazones’ demo on crowded London trains and it has a touching game which can pop up on standard fights.

      Shown here at 3:40:

As long as your headphones are in, there isn’t any shame. >_>

      • TheExile285

        How was the demo?

        • British_Otaku

I’ve only played Etrian Odyssey as for dungeon crawlers, so I felt the exploration and environment (there are clearly more ones, but a blue grey setting which isn’t as cryptic doesn’t feel exciting) aren’t as good though elsewhere the game is well voiced (I’d say the voices around Senran Kagura’s level in the sense that you will be reading quite little without a voice in the back), has a pretty good combat system which has you budgeting your attacks and advances in the world map. The characters provided are fun I suppose and the camera work for visual novel parts is a “little” fresh as they aren’t always facing you in the normal way.

It’s good enough that I may come back to the full game.

      • ShadowDivz

        You have a japanese 3ds?

        • British_Otaku

Yep. Both SK games are already part of my library, though I don’t have a physical SK:B, so I’m hoping Zen United get on that before 2017.

    • Linhua

XD ,,, i’m sorry… but that was hilarious.

  • Hyli

More boobs, just what we needed…

    • Suppaman

We like boobs, and we need boobs. Long live boobies legion.

  • Leon_Tekashi

Need money. Need game. Now. D:

  • Prinny Dood

    Best game ever

  • Raltrios

CRAAAAAAP. I need a bigger SD Card, ASAP!

  • British_Otaku

About time… Looking forward to having more people to chat with on the forums and get some specifics cleared up before the European release.

They should have looked into putting up a few videos showing the action gameplay, perhaps focusing on varying characters and their styles, but I guess word of mouth is enough.

    • TheExile285

Well there is also Japanese gameplay :V

      • British_Otaku

There is, but do they really expect to rely on people using Google and proper research to find out about a game which released over a year ago when all of that footage is in Japanese over seeing a well sculpted trailer that gets sudden spotlight here, Destructoid, Gematsu, DualShockers and the eShop (I tend to ignore games on the eShop that I don’t get a feel for – no demo, no trailer and three unconvincing pictures at $30 on the store is good as dead).

      • British_Otaku

Apparently, they did release a decent trailer for Hanzo but Siliconera didn’t feature it in this article:

        • Slayven19

How could they skip the babe I wanted to play with the most :(.

  • PreyMantis

Can’t wait! I’ll be gaining muscle when this comes out.

  • Arcana Wiz

Hope this sells well, Xseed Deserves it :)

    • leingod

Yea, they do. Bringing this game over was a bold move. Hope they bring the sequel, too…

  • Slayven19

What! Already? Well I’m not complaining in the slightest. Guess I’ll pick this up and beat this before buying something else.

  • Kumiko Akimoto

    You gave the wrong video

  • Yaggyu

the only game that cost $40 on eshop was Shin Megami Tensei 4

  • mojack411

Whoa, this came out of nowhere! I knew it was coming out this month but I thought it was going to be near the end. This is nice, especially since I still have $25 left over from the FE:A X SMTIV promotion.

  • Tyler Beale

One of the first eShop games I’ll be getting whenever I finally get a 3DS (probably Black Friday).

…..What? Black Friday totally isn’t a day that’s all about my favorite CPU…

    • Leon_Tekashi

      Or is it? Nah…Lol

  • 324234

Guess I can import a physical EU copy :/

  • SyrusYuki

Well sucks I can’t get it next week with the games I already pre-ordered this might have to wait til the end of December since I have to buy a bigger memory card as well.

  • SupaPhly

any idea when it’s being released in EU?

    • British_Otaku

2014 and Zen United are handling it with a physical release (maybe with a collector’s edition according to them).

We may be waiting a while.

      • SupaPhly

        Zen United? 2017 release confirmed

        • British_Otaku

Exactly. That’s why I cut out the middle man and own a Japanese AND European 3DS. I guess I’ll be through with my backlog by then at least… >_>

  • Yup. =^_^=

    • Testsubject909

Oh hey, another new avatar picture.

      • Yeah lol. Had this onew up since the 1st.
This was my original Youtube avatar when I first created my Youtube account years ago, but I changed my Youtube avatar recently so now this one is here on Siliconera =)

  • Hines Green III

For a second there I was losing hope lol

    • Herok♞

Really my 3DS sees more play time then every other handheld and console I own. I find it hard to believe that you need a reason to own one

      • leingod

Maybe he just has different tastes in games. It happens.

        • Herok♞

People aren’t allowed to be different that’s what my inner frat boy tells me anyway:

        • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

It’s like asking someone why they owned a PS2. People look at me funny when I tell them I like the PS1 and PSP more than the PS2

      • Shippoyasha

Well, I feel the Vita is the more robust otaku gaming machine especially with no region locks on it. 3DS is no slouch though. Even though I still begrudge region locks.

        • Herok♞

Honesltly with the wealth of content the 3DS gets I find the region lock isn’t that bad but then am I don’t import so its a non issue to me and as much as I like my Vita I really feel we need more for it, like a new dissida or something.

        • Laer_HeiSeiRyuu

The online store is fucking tedious. Puts me off importing anything for the machine period. As does the memory cards >_>

      • Hines Green III

Eh I’m pretty picky with what I like and mostly everything I want on 3DS is an import

  • idrawrobots

This was unexpectedly soon! I have money already ready already for this game!

  • Keine

WTF… they localise THIS and not the VITA version…

  • Rytan

Crap. Do I want this or Dual Destinies!? (I’m getting both eventually. But my next paycheck only gives me enough to get one. ;_;)

    • British_Otaku

I would go for Dual Destinies first as Capcom really need a slap of “LOCALISE ALL OF YOUR GAMES YOU FOOL, SEE WE BUY THEM!” with cold hard digital cash. I get the feeling that SK:B is more likely to do well, but it’s up to you man.

      AA5 is pretty good too.

      • Rytan

Alright. DD it is. This Christmas is going to be hectic for sure.

  • hazelnut1112

    Rated L for Lewd.

    • Linhua

… you sure that’s not YOUR rating… >.> … ‘Mr. Butt in Face Please’ guy… XD

… i’m sorry… after stating this twice in public… I just can’t see you any other way.

      • hazelnut1112

        Haha, oh god.

  • Linhua

… DAMN… and I JUST got into my Vita.

… okay, Vita-chan… you’ve got until next week and then i’m gonna have to cheat on you because Senran Kagura… =

    • leingod

Don’t worry, if you (like me) get Burst, you’ll also help the Vita sequel’s chances to come out in the west. You can cheat on your 3DS then.

      • Linhua

… oh you’re baaaaad… encouraging me to cheat… >.> … but I shall take your advice none the less. XD

        • Testsubject909

Go for a polyamorous relationship and instead of trying to hide your console from one another, introduce them and make them live harmoniously.

          No guilt. Just pleasure.

That and they just can’t say no, after all, you know how to turn them on… and how to turn them off too. So be careful not to accidentally do that.

          • Linhua

… but but .-. I can only TRULY play with them one at a time… and I never turn them off… like ever… when i’m having alone time with one… the other is on stand by and has to watch me get intimate with the other while they wait their turn… which usually isn’t in the same night.

          • Christopher Nunes

I have my console and handhelds in the same area. they don’t mind. ;)

          • ShadowDivz

            in fact they watch. xD

      • Kami nii

I would recommend you to get Versus, its a good game though you might only focus on battle because of the language barrier but hey it did not stop me for purchasing it, every character has their own reasons of becoming a shinobi and I can symphatize though I only read the scenarios not the text, but I felt something very deep about the game,

        • leingod

Yeah, I already own Shinovi Versus, it’s awesome. One of my reasons for getting Burst is precisely to encourage XSEED to localize SV next. I’d totally buy it a second time if it comes with text I can actually read :P

  • TrueDefault

I will comfort myself in the idea that at least EU version gets retail edition as well, I guess… *sniff*

    • Neppygear

      Zen United, though…

  • 3PointDecoupage

Is this that game where girls punch each others clothes off?

  • freestylinyoshi

There was one for the Vita xseed made mention of. Then it just fell off the map. All of a sudden we get the 3ds one instead.

  • Kamakuma

… Burst being released on my bday. I’m not sure whether to cry or start calling relatives and pestering them like a good derp should for well earned monehs… >> <<

  • Shadowman

I think this some up how I’m feeling right now

  • Covnam

Nice. This will be a great use for my $30 promo credit.

    • Slayven19

Already used mine, should have waited for this but whatevs.

      • Covnam

Eh, it’s all the same if you spent it on stuff you wanted :)

  • ShadowDivz

    Men… ready your bodies

    • Christopher Nunes

That comment is made even more awesome because of your Avatar! XD

    • AkuLord3

As long as its not Hibari’s right? :3 (i’m fine wity Yagyu’s <33)

    • Kitestwinblades

One more time… for this glorious bold move!

  • Fox

So is this an actual worthwhile game or, since it’s being localized overseas, is it just more lolicon/moe-pandering garbage?

    • ShadowDivz

Depends on you really. If the minute you see boobs your gonna think its moe-pandering garbage then it’s probably not worthwhile for you.

But i just want to say, that i played the one on vita expecting a silly story and it was very (surprisingly so) mature.

Plus if you like side scrolling beat-em-ups you can’t go wrong with ninjas. =)

    • British_Otaku

Depends on what you consider lolicon/moe-pandering garbage.

You could call Astro Boy: Omega Factor and Dragon Ball: Advanced Adventure shotacon/moe-pandering garbage but also enjoy the worlds they provide and some of the best action on the GBA.

I won’t say this is ANYWHERE near that calibre, but it’s a solid action game with some fanservice and only one character could be called “loli” by your definition out of the 22 playables built up in the three years of games.

    • Jettythesunfish

    • Arrei

By all reports, it’s a solid side-scrolling brawler that also happens to be laden with fanservice. I’ll finally find out if it’s true for myself now, but the fact that people were saying it was actually a solid game on top of the fanservice is why I’ve been looking forward to this for so very long.

  • vileBrenman

    Yessss finally!

  • Jettythesunfish

I’m considering getting this game. Haven’t played many action based games since Kid Icarus Uprising.

  • KazukiNanbu

    i don’t have a 3ds yet!!! T.T

  • bL4Ck

Any chances this will reach europe shores? Digital versions usually get released in all regions.

    • AkuLord3

They already made a article about that way back, its coming over there too but as physical copy (probably Digital as well)

  • greavah

when do we get it in europe?
