Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Reaches North America In February

By Ishaan . November 12, 2013 . 11:03am

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc has a release date. NIS America have announced that the game will be released on February 11th, 2014 in North America.

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is a murder mystery where you point out contradictions during class trials. Like in Capcom’s Ace Attorney series, you need to look out for and point out contradictions in people’s statements.

Danganronpa was originally released for the PSP. NIS America will be publishing a port of the game on PlayStation Vita for North America.

    SOON
    SOON MY FELLOW STUDENTS

    • natchu96

You look like a Valvrave. I don’t trust space vampire mechas piloted by high school students.

      • Jaeger Knighty

What was that? You got something to say?!

        • natchu96

I’d frankly even trust L-Elf and Monokuma more than I’d trust a Valvrave. At least they’re honest about killing people and keep it brief. Feeding on my memories isn’t fun, man.

More games like these on Vita will sell the system to many prospective buyers. Can’t wait to welcome more fans with amazing titles like these. Everybody make this a hit so we can get more VNs! Would love Steins; Gate port on Vita.

  • Hououin91

Europe date is 14th feb btw

    • Malon

Aaaaaw, same date as Lightning Returns, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles and Atelier Escha & Logy… Decisions are going to be made. :<

      I don't think I'll buy it since I watched the anime. : (

      • Detrimont

        game is better

        • Malon

I was wondering after posting my comment if it was worth playing the game knowing I already watched the anime… Plot twists won’t be a surprise anymore sure, but what do you think ?

          • Detrimont

as much as i like the anime… it was very streamlined, so lots of information was removed, as well as character details that you find out in free time sections of the game.
there’s also exploration of the game(that i really enjoyed), and also, court cases, which are extremely fun, even if you have played the game before/watched the anime

          • Hououin91

Buying the game also helps to bring the 2nd xD If that helps to decide.

          • natchu96

Buy it so that they get some incentive to localize the second game, which you don’t know the story to.

    • Detrimont

if that’s the date for Eu, i wonder how long it’ll take to get to Aus/NZ

      • Phoenix

The release date for Aus/NZ is the same as EU

        • Detrimont

the NIS guy told me on the playstation forum

  • Kami nii

This and there are still more titles to come to vita, Ohh Boy!! :)

  • Sentsuizan_93

Valentine’s day release for EU, huh? Interesting…

    • natchu96

Well, as subtle as it is about it it’s still a better love story than Twilight.

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

This is the best news I’ve received all day today.

  • Dsvkb

I’m buying this not only because I’m really interested in the game, but to support these risky games like this. It’s clear NIS is taking a bit of a risk bringing this one over.

  • Mirai

This news just made my day, I look forward to returning to the school life of mutual killing in February.

    • Detrimont

you never fooled me super high school level despair

  • TheExile285

Way eariler than i was expecting but my Vita is ready. Wallet? Not so much.

Wonder if NISA will give us a special edition for this.

  • Ladius

This is a day one purchase for me, and I’m really looking forward to the limited edition’s unveil.

  • Onizuka Gio Hikari

Even though I beat it already I’m buying this as soon as possible to support such an amazing game I really hope we see DR2 soon :)

  • Ran-san

Looks like the month of Love turned to the month for Murder.

Zero Escape got my heart, I hope this’ll do the same! Any other localized good VNs on the Vita, guys? Or upcoming ones?

    • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

If you’re okay with playing a PSP game on the Vita then Sweet Fuse is pretty good fun.

    • Kumiko Akimoto

Omg it’s during the same week as mine

  • Leanaa

Is this gonna have eng or jap voice acting?

    • Kaetsu

English but I think you’ll be able to switch it.

    • TheExile285

      Game has both

  • Detrimont

i’m surprised they kept monokuma, most translations(funimation for the anime, and most LP players/translaters), translate it as monobear

    • Phoenix

For the game, Spike actually really wanted to keep it as Monokuma, and while it may take some people time to get used to, we’re totally happy with it!

    • FlamingFirewire

The fan-translation of the game used Monokuma and it just works SO much better than the literal translation. Really glad Spike wanted them to keep the name the way it is.

      • Detrimont

i’m glad as well, i’m just surprised

  • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

I hope the sequel isn’t too far off, release this in February then the other in Autumn.

  • Surgeon of Death

Ok. Tales of Symphonia Collection, Infamous Second Son and this. My February is set although my wallet is going to be bleeding although not as bad as it is right now. Damn you next gen :)

  • Junko Enoshima

    rise, my children

  • 栗場 江理久

UPUPUPUPUPUPUPU- Oh? Sorry, couldn’t resist XD Yay I can’t wait~ I want to play this and hopefully the 2nd one as well c: I have my wallet loaded to fire money at my screen >:o

  • TheCynicalReaper

Just bought 2 of the Limited Edition
    Heck yes. Full on Ronpa

  • TheExile285

NISA has posted the Limited/Premium Edition on their site:

    http://store.nisamerica.com/Danganronpa-Trigger-Happy-Havoc-Premium-Edition

    • FlamingFirewire

It looks REALLY nice and for only $50, I’m sure these will sell out in no time. I just hope it’s possible to order it from places like EB Games Canada too…

      • Ladius

NISA’s limited editions are sold only through their own site, and they tend to sell out before the game is out. As you said, that price will probably make it easier for people to commit to it, compared to their usual LEs.

  • Juan Andrés Valencia

So… it’s Ace Attorney crossed with Persona 4 plus talking bipolar teddy bears? Jesus Japan, you know how to make the wishes of so many gamers come true.

  • Mastema

    Remember to hold on hope.

  • FlamingFirewire

Don’t even own a Vita yet, but I’ll pick this game’s LE up as soon as it comes out – too awesome to not own!

  • leingod

I haven’t played any of these games, but I already love that psycho bear. Hope the Vita 3D game also makes it to the west eventually :)

  • DingLayGorFe

    it is RPG?

    • Servant BerserCAR

It is a visual novel style game… plus murders and a two face bear.

    • DyLaN

To complement wht SB said below, its is mainly a VN but with some gameplay element/minigame included.

  • Kornelious

We’re also getting a limited edition…jeez NISA where are you getting all this money!?

  • http://vindictushots.tumblr.com/ Okuni-chan

I don’t have the Vita yet but I’m getting the game… upupupupu

  • ZekeFreek

I’m still disappointed they didn’t go with Monobear…

  • resuri

Would love to get the LE but the shipping cost a lot. Probably going to buy this in our local stores along with Vita (since I don’t own a Vita yet) :(

  • artemisthemp

Looking forward to my Limited Edition arrives :)

  • Tiramii

Just preordered. I’ll have to balance this, LR, and Symphonia when it comes out. I CAN DO THAT.

  • Hound

Does the PSP/Vita game closely follow the plot, clues, etc that occur in the anime?

  • Justin Grant

Games are not welcome in a school environment!

  • Göran Isacson

I do wonder if we will get a European release date too, or if I should just stop hoping and buy this as soon as it drops in the US…
