Sonic Lost World Finally Gets A Demo In The U.S.

By Ishaan . November 14, 2013 . 10:29am

Senran Kagura Burst is out on the Nintendo eShop today in North America, but you probably knew that already. Joining it are a few other games.

For starters, River City Ransom for the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console is out in North America as well. The game costs $4.99. Also available is a strategy-meets-puzzle game published by Circle Entertainment, titled World Conqueror 3D. Take a look at it above.

Finally, Sonic Lost World now has a demo available in both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

Meanwhile, over in Europe, Picross e3 is available for the 3DS for €5.00/£4.50. You can also grab Mega Man X2 for the Wii U Virtual Console for €7.99/£5.49.

Currently trying to make room on my SD card for Senran Kagura and failing. Will probably have to go out and buy a bigger one.

    • Suicunesol

16GB SDs are both cheap and a good long-term investment.

I grabbed a class 10 32GB for about 22 bucks on Amazon a couple weeks back. That might be an even better idea. I -do not- recommend class 4 or anything lower than class 10. Your performance on your downloaded games will suffer a tremendous amount.

        • Suicunesol

What difference does it make? The games play just fine regardless of the card’s class, right?

          • http://www.youtube.com/user/xxHiryuuxx Tohsaka

Actually, they don’t. In some cases you’ll experience outright load and save lag. In my case with Pokemon X, it caused sound buffer underruns (basically it made the sound skip and sound like garbage) leading to a crash. Upgrade to class 10? No trouble afterwards. Most of my experience with a class 4 was okay until you dealt with saving and loading and then it would take a very large amount of time for it to go through. If you spend the extra buck or two to invest in a class 10, you won’t regret doing so. Classes are the speed at which the SD card reads and writes and if it’s much lower than 10, you’ll usually run into issues in one way or another.

          • Suicunesol

I see. Does it only effect saving and loading times, or does it effect game performance as well? Would a class 10 help even a little bit? If so, then I’m probably going to go out and buy one in an instant.

          • http://www.youtube.com/user/xxHiryuuxx Tohsaka

Anything that you’re running on the media will likely run the same between the two cards 80% of the time, minus games that require loading in a lot of data during certain points, and starting up the game and loading it into memory. You’ll probably get similar performance otherwise, but there’s no way I’d go back to a class 4.

All told, though, it’s well worth the investment. I got tired of listening to my games buffer all the time and take half a minute to save or load whereas a class 10 was under a second.

          • TheAquacharger

Too be fair for the 3DS you only need a Class 7. The 3DS has a locked re-write that maxes out at about class 6-7. Of course I got a class 10 card.

        • Raltrios

I just bought a 32GB Class 10 myself, for $33 at a retailer. Can’t wait to try out this game :3

        • ShadowDivz

I got a 3DS recently, so im still using the SD card that came with it. (I only have Pokemon so far.)

Should i buy another SD card for SK?

      • Herok♞

My only question is will I have to redownload everything and redo everything since I will need a larger card for SKB but I plan on waiting if I can’t easily place everything on the new card

  • leingod

Getting Senran Kagura now. Apparently it’s pretty big (dunno how much 13000 blocks are XD)

    • Tylor Boreas Makimoto

iirc, 8 blocks equals a MB, and 1024 MBs equal a GB. From the math I did, its somewhere around 1.59 GB

      • leingod

Must be something like that. Thanks.

  • Spider-Man

*Refills web cartridges* Getting Senran Kagura so fast. I’ll anything to help support Xseed and get my delicious Shinovi Versus localized. For now, it’s 3D oppai for Spider-Man.

    • TheGioG

“Does what a buxom-ninja loving spider can!”

      • ShadowDivz

Someone just earned themselves a cookie.

    • ShadowDivz

Im gonna ignore what that web cartridge comment implies…

      I didn’t know you had a vita spider-man!

      • Spider-Man

Of course. :) Shinovi Versus is great.

        • ShadowDivz

          Indeed it is.
          Top 5 girls?

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/Kevassa02 kevassa

They put a demo -after- the release of the game?
    Sega, you are too slow!
But seriously they need to get the timing of demos better next time.

    • Shady Shariest

Yeah…And after the game has gotten the mixed reviews too :x

      • http://www.youtube.com/user/Kevassa02 kevassa

To be entirely honest from what I played in a friend’s WiiU the game is really good but it’s got tons of little things that can easily ruin the experience for people. Can’t speak much of the 3DS version but they seem to have gone too puzzle oriented in comparison.
I still think a demo should bring in new people and make people slightly more open minded with the game.

        • Lynx

After Generations, I really thought they had the speed down again. Lost World quite honestly feels like its trying to copy SMG too hard.

The side to side levels are fine though.

          • http://www.youtube.com/user/Kevassa02 kevassa

While the speed is certainly slower my problem lies elsewhere with the game.
The game has a severe case of identity crisis.
There’s tons of unnecessary Nintendo tropes in the game.
Mario timer, Mario style hurry up theme, hardly any momentum retention in favor of tiered running and directional gravity (and lack of slopes due to directional gravity), rail stages reminiscent of Donkey Kong Country’s minecart stages, the butterfly things being basically the broken warp star pieces from SMG, the many bosses ripped straight off from SMG, a freaking snowball level like SMG’s ball level (though with certainly more precise controls), the exact same level tropes from NSMBW (Grass, desert, tropical, ice, jungle, sky and lava? SERIOUSLY?), the springs sending you off to planetoids like Warp Stars, the RV vehicles being like the 2P mode of SMG, the Animals being basically the equivalent of Stars in the game, etc, etc, etc.

It just feels like they are trying -too- hard to appease to the Nintendo fans which really takes away from Sonic’s identity.

Don’t get me wrong, the game’s really fun to me and I love the music and graphics. It’s just Sega should…really try to do Sonic games and not plaster Sonic into foreign tropes. It just doesn’t quite work.

          • Shady Shariest

Agh… Generations! I completely forget it, again and again… It’s even on Steam :x

      • Herok♞

well now you can try it for yourself which is better

        • Shady Shariest

Was going to bring that up… But that was before a sauna and a fresh glass of Pepsi, so my brain couldn’t figure out a way to say the both things at the same time :x

  • Jesse

I think I’ll try that Sonic demo. =D

    • subsamuel01

Same, I was skeptical about the game because of the reviews. At least now I can try it out for myself.

  • Prinny Dood

    downloading now “GREATNESS AWAITS”

    • Chaos_Knight

I still don’t get how it got localized, but I like it!

      • ShadowDivz

        Miracles. They happen.

      • Kaijumaster

which is exactly why we should all buy it!

    • TheGioG

Jesus Christ, one 16 GB memory card later, and my 3DS still can’t handle dat much ass… I really should clear out some of the music on that thing.

      • ShadowDivz

        ( •_•)
Looks like when it comes to Senran Kagura
        ( •_•)>⌐■-■
Your 3DS doesn’t have the blocks.
        (⌐■_■)
        YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

    • Raltrios

WHY DID YOU SAVE A THUMBNAIL

      ;__;

      • Akemi Homura

        You’re welcome.

        • Raltrios

          Thank you, kind sir!

        • Spider-Man

          I shot web.

  • Linhua

… i’m doing that Senran Kagura thing right now~

… been stalking the eShop since I got home from work this morning.

… only played a little bit and i’m already enjoying it very much. SO worth the wait.

  • Minos

    Cool…

  • Jeffrey Thrash

Thank goodness that the Sonic Lost World is finally getting a demo. I feel sorry for the people who were on the fence and simply wanted an informative, unbiased review from the so-called “top” review publications.

  • Kornelious

I find it funny that you didn’t mention Senran Kagura in the title, when we ALL know that’s why we’re here

    • Herok♞

I came here for the sonic demo which was fun

      • ShadowDivz

I…actually came here for Senran Kagura too.

  • 3PointDecoupage

Just played the sonic demo. I hate that I loved it. I already have zelda, mario party, and ys to buy next week.

  • Suicunesol

Funny that the eShop doesn’t mention Senran Kagura anywhere. You’ll only know it exists if you specifically search for it. EDIT: Nm… it’s in the NEW section.

I also noticed that the game seems to employ 3D and anti-aliasing at the same time. It’s come at the expense of framerate, but still it’s a bit surprising. I’m not sure there are many 3DS games that use both AA and 3D at the same time.

    • idrawrobots

The character models are so nice. I am legitimately impressed how great they look. Technically speaking of course.

  • ShadowDivz

Game producer Kenichiro Takaki came up with the idea for the game around April, 2010 when he decided to make a 3DS game. Apparently, within 30 seconds of thinking about a possible game he decided that one of the things people want to see the most in 3D are breasts.

You can’t help but admire a man who works that fast…or is that honest.

  • TheExile285

3DS demo for Sonic? SWEET! Will download tomorrow after Burst is done.

  • hazelnut1112

I might get nosebleeds playing this. So much lewd in a single game. Will get it when I have the cash.

  • http://youtube.com/user/Chubunater Chubunato

My poor 4GB SD weeps after downloading Senran.. I dont think i have enough space for sonic lost world demo.

    • Rytan

      I still have a 2GB. Sigh.

  • Doctor Nebula

Bought a 32gb for 3DS last week to get ready for ninajs, a large step up from 4gb that came with mine.

  • Raltrios

I just went out and bought a 32GB card for SKB. Stupid employees at EB Games and The Source made me have to take two trips for it due to misinformation on their part, and the second trip caused me bodily injury.
    I blame them for it.

Now, let’s hope these bursting boobs are worth it. I think they will be :D

    • ShadowDivz

Don’t forget to put the 3D on!

      Sorry, you got hurt.

      • Raltrios

        I certainly shall :3

It’s not too bad, considering I felt the bike sliding out from under me before it happened and was able to brace for it. Still ripped a hole in the knee of my jeans, though. I shouldn’t have had to make that trip, if only the employees knew their stuff.

        • ShadowDivz

What are the odds an employee knows what they are talking about? xD
