Ultra Street Fighter IV Coming To Consoles Sometime After April 2014

By Ishaan . November 15, 2013 . 10:00am

Ultra Street Fighter IV will be released in Japanese arcades in April 2014, and the download versions of the game for North America and Europe will be released “shortly after” (but before EVO 2014), Capcom have announced.

Speaking to just why Ultra is taking so long to be released, Capcom say that they’ve been working hard to ensure that this is the most “openly influenced” version of Street Fighter IV yet, adding that over 20,000 comments from members of their Capcom Unity forums alone were perused while planning changes to the game.

In addition to new gameplay mechanics such as the Red Focus and Ultra Combo Double, new modes are being added to the game as well, although these haven’t been revealed yet. Finally, the team is also reviewing the five new characters in the game—four of which have been revealed so far—to ensure they work properly.

Ultra Street Fighter IV will be released for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, following its arcade release in Japan. You can find location test details for the U.S here.

Dammit, I was looking forward to playing this on early 2014…

(Now, if they bring it to Vita, I’ll be less pissed XD)

    • Freakmasta

Fighting game on a Vita? *vomits in mouth*

      • RichyGaming

        Better than GBA.

      • Quacker

pretty much all the big fighters are on vita and the d-pad is great for fighters

Not quite: we still need King of Fighters XIII to be on Vita, but in the meantime, I’ll be having fun with Injustice.

          • Guest

Never mind, I misread your comment. Sorry

      • leingod

Vita’s THE portable for fighting games. Besides, I enjoy them fighters more on the go than on consoles, for some reason.

    • Eder García

Vita got Legend of Raven (Yatagarasu) deal with it

      • leingod

        I would, but I believe it’s 4:3 … and that’s a no-no for me.

  • DriftSlave

April/May isn’t that bad…but fret not, they are running loketest soon and user feedback will determine how much work they have left.

Might as well just make something new for ps4.. Got tired of street fighter 4 a good two years ago.

    • Kaihedgie

And yet you’re still posting on here

      • Musashi234

Someone get this Man a Burn heal quick!

    • Kaitsu

Only except they won’t for a good while. Ultra is going to last for another several years. Honestly, I’m okay with that. I’m hyped for Ultra, and I don’t plan on buying the PS4 anytime soon.

Plus there’s still Tekken X Street Fighter to worry about. We haven’t anything from the Tekken team yet.

    • Chee Yang

With balance changes, red focus, and double ultra, trust me people who have been playing since vanilla will give this update another go until SF5 comes out.

  • Masa

gonna wait for Street Fighter IV Ultra Super Duper Version.

    • Quacker

And I’m going to wait for super unused original comment 4 super duper original edition.

  • bushin

Really hyped for this new release, these new features change the game entirely!

  • LuciferD666

Oh? So Xrd will be competing then. Although I wouldn’t be the one to call guns on it as if it were a competitive move.

    • Lelouch Vi Britannia

Guilty Gear Xrd Sign > Ultra Street Fighter IV.
Move over Street Fighter you’re too Slow.

  • Nope. Gonna wait for Ultra Super Street Fighter 4 lol =P

    • leingod

      That one’s new.

      • You know they’re gonna do it lol

        • Kaihedgie

          They aren’t

  • TrueDefault

I hope it has Turbo mode or something. I kinda like SFxT pacing.

  • Ty Austin

Worth noting, in addition to red focus and w ultra, there’s a new option. Delayed wake ups are confirmed to be the third new mechanic.

Street Fighter IV was fun a few years back. Now I’m enjoying “Gundam Extreme Vs.” a lot more. Not to Mention “Guilty Gear Xrd Sign” for PS3/PS4 will kick way more Ass than Ultra SFIV.
