Toukiden Coming North America And Europe In February 2014

By Ishaan . November 27, 2013 . 8:30am

Toukiden: Age of Demons, Tecmo Koei’s multiplayer Monster Hunter style game set in medieval Japan, will be available in February 2014, the publisher has announced.

Toukiden features six different weapon types and a story mode with 200 characters, based on both historical and fictional Japanese figures.

Toukiden: Age of Demons will be available on February 11th in North America and February 14th in Europe for PlayStation Vita.

Pre-ordering the game from GameStop in North America will get you two extra “Mission Collections” and the “Mitama of Niijima Yae”. If you’d rather play it safe, you can pre-order from Amazon instead, which gets you “Mitama of Momotaro,” which strengthens your skill, along with two pieces of armour—cat ears and a fox mask.

While Toukiden is only being released on Vita in the west, in Japan, the game was released for both PSP and Vita. Collectively, the two versions have sold over 470,000 copies.

why everything have to come in 1 month gosh

      • ShadowDivz

        Conspiracy?

  • icecoffemix

Interesting, there’s a demo on Reg 3 PSN, maybe I’ll give it a try.

    • TheExile285

If you still have a PSP, you can try the PSP demo. It looks like crap compared to Vita version but it will give you a taste of the gameplay.

      • icecoffemix

There’s a Vita demo too here.

        • TheExile285

Oh, you live in R3? I only mentioned the PSP demo because a lot of Vita owners (like me) don’t like switching accounts.

          • icecoffemix

            Yep. :P

    • Arz

      what’s Reg 3?

      • icecoffemix

        Asia (But not Japan) PSN.

  • Keko

    My wallet is diamonds.

  • Sentsuizan_93

This and Danganronpa are the only games I need for Valentines. ^_^”

    • TheExile285

      What about Bravely Default :V

EDIT: Nevermind, fogot you lived in EU lol.

    • http://confitdent.com thedood7

      Same here ;-D

  • TheExile285

I’ll be pre-ordering from GameStop like usual.

    • ShadowDivz

I don’t even understand what the pre-orders bonuses are.

      • TheExile285

GameStop gives you DLC missions + a spirit. Amazon gives you a spirit and clothes.

You collect and quick these spirits (or Mitama) and they give you different abilities and stats.

        • ShadowDivz

Sounds awesome. As i told you before i’ve never tried ordering anything online.

But for this i might make an exception.
Then again, the fox ears and mask might just be DLC in the future.

Right on! My Vita library will finally become something respectable!

  • Go2hell66

still very on the fence about this game, will have to wait for some reviews

  • Arcana Wiz

Why everything will be released february!? i mean… i’m glad for the games… but is interesting to see a lot of announcements for february…

    • Anko Is Furious (King T.G.P)

I’m going to feel bad for several wallets due to this lol.

  • Lilith

I like the historical Japanese feel but there is something that will make or break this game for me. Does it have online? If not I’ll stick with MH3U for now.

    • Naryl

yup it does, both ad-hoc and infrastructure mode

  • DyLaN

Come across the artbook of Toukiden, good stuff in there.

  • Slickyslacker

Here’s something that I never thought would make it out of Japan. This is only making me want a Vita even more…

    • TheExile285

Really? Temco has been good with Vita releases so I wasn’t really surprised.

      • Slickyslacker

Well, given that it’s a stand-alone title, and I didn’t see much apparent interest in it, I was doubtful about it being localized. Of course, I’m quite glad.

        • JonathanisPrimus

The localization was announced at E3 back in June.

  • niko

It’s a very good game. It needs more monsters, more things to do (you repeat the same creatures over and over too much) but it’s still very fun. I can’t wait for a second where they expand the creature set and tweak some things, it will be sick.

    I recommend highly.

  • Pdugna

How is this game’s online compared to others? Just asking because Ad-hoc isn’t a big thing in the west.

    • TheExile285

What do you mean? The game has infrastructure online. If you are talking about the community, won’t know that till after release.

      • Pdugna

More of the Netcode and such is it laggy?

        • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 禍津水木

          Smooth in Japan

The US and EU will have more issues due to the network size

  • TheExile285

    English Website is up:

    http://www.toukiden.eu

  • Hraesvelgr

    Ugh, retailer exclusive preorder bonuses…

…and yet, I will buy this anyway. Dammit.

    • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 禍津水木

Just get Gamestops, the Mitama aren’t a big deal unless you want those parts

  • Luis Camargo

Why every game must be launching on february or march ?

Srly, take my wallet and a kidney already.

  • nonscpo

Toukiden and Dangan Ronpa in february, finally a reason to own a VITA
    :)
    :) :)
    :) :) :)
    You get the idea!

  • Strain42

My Vita is slowly starting to get more titles, Huzzah!

  • ShadowDivz

Is there a picture of the aforementioned cat ears and fox mask? I’d like to know what they look like.

Pre-ordering the game from GameStop in North America will get you two extra “Mission Collections” and the “Mitama of Niijima Yae”.

I have no idea what that means. Can someone elaborate please?

Edit:I hope we get the demo to try.

    • TheExile285

      Copied from the website

“Mitama – the souls of Japanese historical heroes

Use the power of the Mitama to slay the powerful Oni!

Mitama are the souls of fallen heroes that are released upon defeating an Oni, and players can use them to imbue their weapons with special abilities and attributes. Various effects can be obtained from these Mitama, and by upgrading their weapons, players can utilize multiple Mitama at the same time to choose the ones that best suit their playing style and strategy. Additionally, with more than 200 Mitama in total, each with their own artwork and in-game voices, there is plenty of incentive to try and collect them all.”

      http://www.toukiden.eu/outline.html

so basically you equip them and they give you different stats and abilities

      • ShadowDivz

        Ohhhhhh. Thank you Exile.

Wait, “in game voices”?! Shaman King Anyone?

    • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 禍津水木

The Mitama you get from preorders aren’t that great and can be replaced. They drop from bosses and range from different abilities such as offensive, support and defense.

      Gamestop has the best deal

  • SlickRoach

I forgot about this game completely! I’m a sucker for mythological creatures and I love Monster Hunter and the created mythologies for Soul Sacrifice so this is a day one buy for me.

  • LBattle0819

    So…. when is the demo?

  • chava

Are games that are being built for the psp and the vita a psp game that runs on vita? Or vita has its own? I’ve seen a couple but that keeps me from buying it psp is awesome but i want vita games

    • Alexander Marquis Starkey

The PSP version isn’t being localized. The Game was built from the ground of on both, the PSP of course having lower graphic quality.

      • chava

        Thanks man

  • Kornelious

I sure hope this is physical…If it is, I’ll go with Amazon.

  • nonscpo

My wallet is crying, why is everything coming in February? By the way what’s the difference between the amazon and gamestop preorder?

  • WhyWai

I played the asia version demo… The art style is fantastic. but gameplay wise, I think Ragnarok Odyssey is much fluid and fun..

  • Lemski07

money in the bank, out of it.

  • artemisthemp

Looks like i won’t have to wait long until I can play Toukiden

  • Rinkawa Erion

Hope the localize ver has Japanese audio coz it would be very very veeeeeery weird if it’s English audio only…
