By Ishaan . December 4, 2013 . 9:00am

Bravely Default will be available in Europe this week, starting December 6th, and Nintendo have released a new trailer for the game that you can watch below. It shows off the game’s world, the ability to use Japanese or English voices, and some of the job classes that you can use in the game.

North America will see Bravely Default on February 7th, 2014. Meanwhile, a brand new sequel to the game, Bravely Second, was announced in Japan earlier today.

    >Takehito Koyasu
    English voices are crap.

    • John Diamond

reminds me of the tales of community. unfortunately

      • Samsara09

        Well,this is indeed annoying.Geez..

    • Sentsuizan_93

      Not this again…. -_-

    • Koyapi is all the incentive I need to buy any video game.

      • 永次

Is the law of the life, If Koyasu appears in a videogame, the other dubs will be bad, it’s not my fault.

    • Zoozbuh

The English voices are fine. Every professional reviewer so far has said that the voice-work is amazing. Japanese voices always sound samey and boring for me. (Just thought *someone* should represent the dub crowd -____-)

      • SerendipityX

I think the previous trailer did not showcase the dub well. The dub sounds ten times better in this trailer.

      • Sato

Hah, I always felt the same way about English dubs, but to each their own! No need to force feed opinions onto others, but hey, Internet. /shrug

      • Prinnydoom

I agree about defending english voice acting. Don’t agree about japanese voice acting. You can get a good mix of bad and good.

  • Sentsuizan_93

    So much hype!
    *looks at calendar*
    Is it Friday yet?

    • Virevolte

I got it yesterday. I’m a little surprised… nobody in France seems to care about release dates…

      • Adrián Alucard

        Same here, in Spain

      • Malon

Isn’t that better for us ? I mean, I got my copy saturday, 1 week before the official release date.
I don’t see any flaw to that.

      • Makar85

i have it preordered at fnac, but i would love to start playing tomorrow, can you tell me where you bought yours?

        • Virevolte

Ah, I don’t really know if we have the same shops, but yeah. In France, we can get it at Micromania (basically the sole shop still selling video games) and Fnac ( ).

Little shops selling import games also have some copies.

I’m not sure this is really helpfull. ^^”””

          • Makar85

Thx I tried to go today but evidently the Fnac i go to pays more attention to release dates… :(. thx for the info anyway! Are you enjoying the game so far?

          • Virevolte

            I didn’t open it. ^^”
A friend has buy it for me as he was passing by Micromania, but I’m near the end of Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance, and I wanted to beat it before trying Bravely Default.

So… I’m gonna play it either tonight, either tomorrow, like everyone else. ^^”

  • AlphaSixNine

Can someone tell me why Europe gets this 2 months earlier than US? Just curious since I find it unusual.

    • Probably marketing. NOA likely felt releasing this around the same time as Zelda (and high-profile games from other publishers on other platforms) was a bad idea in the U.S., and rightfully so.

      • Pyrotek85

Yeah I can’t really blame companies for these kinds of delays.

  • icecoffemix

Whoa didn’t expect dual audio from SE game, this made me kinda reconsider 3DS. The screens is ugly as all f though, ugh.

    • TheExile285

      Get a 3DSXL

      • icecoffemix

That’s the one I tried playing on, it was my friend’s. I generally am not too concerned with IQ (can play PSX game just fine today) but gawd if that wasn’t awful.

        • LogicIncarnate

3DS is where all the good games are at.

          • icecoffemix

Subjective, I’m only really interested with RF4 and maybe this game. Don’t wanna support SMT4 for various reason even though I love Nocturne to death.

          • sakusakusakura_nyo

            SMT4 was awesome!

          • Zero_Destiny

It’s my favorite game this generation (so far).

          • LogicIncarnate

I bought one this year… so far I own

            Ocarina Of Time 3D
            Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon
            Harvest Moon A New Beginning
            Super Mario 3D Land
            Fire Emblem Awakening
            Kid Icarus Uprising
            Tales of the Abyss
            Mario Kart 7
            Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance
            Rune Factory 4
            Hometown Story
            Pokemon X & Y
            SMT 4
            Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
            Etrian Odyssey The Millennium Girl
            Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
            Project X Zone

            Planning to get:
            Bravely Default
            One Piece Romance Dawn
            Conception 2
            Shantae and the Pirates Curse
            Persona Q
Harvest Moon Link To Another Land

I’m not being a fanboy I own a PS3 & PS4 but 3DS is the better handheld at least as far as game selection is concerned and I go where the games are. I might pick up a Vita when it drops to $150 or so.

          • icecoffemix

Thanks for the list but I don’t care about majority of those game. Nintendo game never appeal to me, got sick of KH after 2, Pokemon or MH is not a system seller for me either, so yeah, sorry.

Not keen on changing this into console warz but I just want to say that Vita has the game I want to play and the OLED is just beautiful. I’ll prob pick 3DS when Bravely Second or Third hit the west, proven it not become modern FF after those iterations.

In any case, don’t worry about it, I’m the one who gamble buying handheld on life support like Vita, but so far I’m really liking it. :)

  • Jero

By far the best trailer they’ve done. It doesn’t focus into the story but lots of gameplay and the music, oh, the music.

    • Pockystix

really shows of why I need this game in my veins.

It”s pretty much everything I’ve wanted in a FF game that Square has been very much against doing these past two generations.

  • Charles

    I’m so hyped now!

  • Heisst

    Oh man that music.

  • Buitronthecrazy .

someone knows if the dual audio will be available in the american version too?

  • IshimaruKaito

February never seemed so far away!! lol

  • TheExile285
    • Zero_Destiny

Interesting, $55 for the Limited Edition. I can get behind that. Was waiting to hear about the price.

      • TheExile285

        Amazon has it for $50

        • Zero_Destiny

Oh wow, strange. One of them will probably update the price listing soon, I’d imagine. I don’t think they’d sell them at different prices. xD Maybe I should pre-order at Amazon and lock in the $5 cheaper. lol

          • SerendipityX

Gamestop is known for adding a random $5 on limited edition stuff. Like the WindWaker CE was MRSP $59.99 but Gamestop sold it for $64.99

          • Zero_Destiny

hhmmm never noticed that before, myself. Crazy ol’ Gamestop being crazy again. ┐(‘~`;)┌

    • Malon

Does the US collector edition also includes the beautiful black box ?

    • Kaetsu

Aside from Canadian retailers don’t have the pre-orders ready for the collector’s edition. For some reason Canada is always late when it comes to collector’s editions.

  • Scott W

why oh why is the 3ds region locked T_T

  • Thrasher429

That was an amazing trailer If i wasn’t already planning on getting it or wasn’t sure about it, it would certainly of given me that push needed to buy.

  • Just put in my pre-order on Amazon =^_^=

  • I sure hope this game sells like crazy in both Europe and NA.

  • So why didn’t they just call this Final Fantasy? It’s the best, and truest, Final Fantasy we’ve seen since I don’t know when. Not that I have anything against the title “Bravely Default”; I quite like it. It just seems like this could have sold more as “Final Fantasy” and perhaps revolutionized the brand.

I hope it sells a ton anyway and opens the door for more Japanese RPGs, and Japanese games in general, in the West.

    • AuraGuyChris

      Either because…

      1) This wasn’t fully developed by Square Enix. It was developed by Silicon Studios.

      2) Final Fantasy is dead.

      • Well the first is true. As far as the second, I’d say it’s been more like undead for years now, a shambling corpse snarling and farting and only hinting at its former glory.

        • It all started though when they made that movie that didn’t even have anything to do with Final Fantasy then they merged with Enix to give Dragon Quest those kiddie puns even if the games managed to come here and get a better translation I guess.

          • I’ve yet to even see that movie.

I could accept all that if they’d just give me games I like. :( And it isn’t even that they’re not making games I like. They are making them, but they’re not bringing them out where I live.

Sometimes I think Square began to fall when they flopped onto Sony and made FFVII a multimedia extravaganza. I still blame Tetsuya Nomura. And the prime minister. Whoever it was at the time. And the emperor. The imperial family could have done something about this.

      • Prinnydoom

This is the path FF should have taken. Having said that, as a fan, I’ve been interested by virtually everything square have thrown our way…….with the exception of lightning returns.

      • Time Sage

Actually it was originally going to be called a Final Fantasy game. The subtitle, Flying Fairy was delebrity choosen for the “FF” in reference to this.

    • Tom_Phoenix

Because Square Enix didn’t want to confuse fans of modern Final Fantasy games with a game that is closer to the sensibilities of classic ones. Yes, that’s seriously the explanation they provided.

It’s ironic, isn’t it? Modern FF is so devoid of anything that made the series appealing that a game that is a classic FF game in everything but name is considered to be too different to carry the name. It perfectly illustrates the dire situation the Final Fantasy series is in nowadays.

      • Yeah, that’s bizarre. I just have to wonder if it might have sold better on the Final Fantasy name. Or maybe it would have turned us away, ha. Well, I hope this is the beginning of great, new things that lean on past great things.

        • The different name is one of, and I’m sure for many, probably the No.1 reason (cant say I blame them) on why I’m personally buying it. Had it bear the name of “final fantasy” and it honestly would’wouldn’t have been a “Day 1 Pre-order” but rather instead a “Release day-trip-to-GameStop-“hmm”-while-windowshopping-“I-think-I’ll-buy-this-game-mebbe.”

          • But you’re a Siliconera reader. Surely you would have known enough about the game to know it was worth purchasing regardless of the name.

      • ^ everything said here from Tom Phx, and more is why I’m buying this game’s CE, pre-ordered, day 1.

For me, even though it was still in the process of deviating from FF-classic; 12 was the last FF game I truly enjoyed.

Yes i am an XI player, going on 11 years for me and thats probably one of the factors on why I liked 12 because of the battle system being reminiscent of “an offline version of XI” (well, not quite, but that’s a very tl;dr way of putting it… anyways…)

Aside from a story you forgot about a week later, 12 was great, 10 was the first voiced entry in the series and although quite linear, still had more meat then 13’s linearity.

Now that this game is coming out it feels like the ‘style’ of the FF games are coming back full circle to the stuff that made us fall in love with these games in the first place. Glad i got my Zelda 3DS XL bundle, now i can add this game to the collection I’m sure to amass in the next 6 months :O

  • mojack411

God, it’s like waiting for Fire Emblem: Awakening all over again! February is like the month of highly anticipated RPG’s every year!

    • Kaetsu

Fire Emblem Awakening was the worst wait because I didn’t bother to pre-order the game and then it was sold out everywhere for a week! I’ve learned my lesson and I’m going to pre-order Bravely Default.

      • mojack411

Good man. I’m gonna pre-order my CE right now too.

      • Same here. From shop to shop. I had never experienced that before on my whole life. Maybe I should preorder as well.

  • Excellent trailer! The English audio’s quality sounded much better now too. I’m excited to play with the Japanese voices and the English voices.
And just plain excited to play the game. ♥

  • Prinnydoom

He he he Hell Yeah!!!!!! This friday people. Best game of 2013 coming right up.

  • Learii

    I be waiting for this

  • Junko Enoshima

  • Sapitntapit

Why is the US getting it so much later?

    • Prinnydoom

Because we of england gave you our language. Just making up for lost time =P (Don’t take that seriously)

      • Stuart Nisbet

ummm that’s incredibly ignorant. there are far more places in the UNITED KINGDOM than england, let alone the entirety of europe. we’re getting it earlier because our Q4 2014 is sparse.

        • Prinnydoom

-_- Are you serious. Look at what i wrote. DON’T TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. Not trying to be ignorant sorry if it offended people but it was a joke. Come on.

  • Kei-chan

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    Dat Eng dub tho <3

  • Stuart Nisbet

  • Kamakuma

I was drawn here by that bare it all… God dammit Persona! Er carry on everyone… <<

  • Will the game include the AR card that shows Agnes talk about the world situation? I remember seeing a utube vid about it in the jp version

  • Nintendojitsu

I haven’t been this hyped for an RPG since the Super Nintendo.

  • *_* . My european friend has been posting pictures and videos of playing the game. I always comment with “You can feel the jealous stares of thousands of americans.”

  • Oltheros

Dual audio? First lightning returns, now this. Square has been pretty based lately.
