Shovel Knight Platformer Delayed To Early 2014

Shovel Knight, the Mega Man-inspired platformer by Yacht Club Games, has seen a bit of a delay, the developer has announced.

Originally planned for release in 2013, the game will now be available sometime in early 2014, Yacht Club revealed via their Twitter account. (Via: Polygon) The game is in development for PC, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

Shovel Knight has you playing as the Shovel Knight character himself, as he travels across multiple stages and does battle against eight “boss knights” inspired by the concept of the Robot Masters from Mega Man.

You can learn more about Shovel Knight in an interview Siliconera conducted with Yacht Club earlier in the year.

Good things come to those that wait. I wish them no pressure to rush and put out something they wouldn’t want the supporters to enjoy.

    Ha, i mean
‘Damn, that’s a shame, all the more reason why 2014 would be a better year for the wii-u

    whats the price tag?

    • My guess is the regular price tag for an Indie game: $15.

A delayed game is better than a rushed game.

    • It’s delayed due to that Fishing Mini-Game. No joke, Fishing games are really hard to code.

I’m not TOO upset by this, mostly because I am convinced this one’s gonna be good no matter how much time it takes. So if they need some extra months I shall gladly give it, though I do hope they’ll release an update about this to their kickstarter page so twitter won’t be the only way to find out about it…
