Here’s An Hour Of Bravely Default Footage To Tide You Over

By Ishaan . December 6, 2013 . 4:57pm

Bravely Default is out now in both Japan and Europe, but the U.S. will have to wait another couple of months before the game is available to them. If you feel like taking a peek, however, YouTube user Nintendaan has shared an hour of in-game footage that you can check out below.

Bravely Default will be available in North America on February 7th. A sequel, titled Bravely Second, was announced in Japan earlier in the week.

  • Yaggyu

would have been a nice touch if it also allows NA to try out the demo ourselves

  • Kaetsu

Anyone know the English voice cast yet? All I know is Tiz’s voice is done by Bryce Papenbrook.

    EDIT: I found it http://www.prlog.org/12252978-bravely-default-english-voice-cast-announced.html

    • Asrialys

Kyle Hebert mentioned his Ominous Crow role on Twitter.

I think that’s Cristina Vee as the fairy.

lol I hear Karen Strassman as an extra…

    • Elemiel

Agnes sounds like Erin Fitzgerald in a trailer I saw.

  • mojack411

I reeeeeaaaaaaly wanna watch this but I also want my first experience with the game to be my own.

    • http://jesse-dylan.livejournal.com Jesse_Dylan

Same! It’s so hard not to watch, but I don’t want to ruin it for myself.

    • Suicunesol

I thought that too, until I realized it’s another 2 months to go and I’ll just forget everything by then.

  • http://jesse-dylan.livejournal.com Jesse_Dylan

So glad they left the Japanese voices in

    • Kaetsu

I might be using it. The english voice acting hasn’t exactly impressed me from what I’ve seen.

      • http://jesse-dylan.livejournal.com Jesse_Dylan

Yeah, it’s not bad, just… uh… I dno. I don’t know. It embarrasses me to listen to it. I want to say Saturday morning cartoon mixed with 1980s Disney.

    • http://gamgambit.tumblr.com/ Thespian Thief ♢

I think it was okay, Liam o Brian always sound awesome.

Well, it’d be actually a cool voice acting if it wasn’t for Agne’s voice, too overreacted in my opinion and sometimes I wouldn’t get what she says if it wasn’t for the subtitles.

    • fairysun

Looking for this exact comment. So glad someone answered it. Thumbs up for everyone else to see.

  • http://jesse-dylan.livejournal.com Jesse_Dylan

How come it says “Bravely Second!” on the top screen when the tip about SP drinks is on the bottom?

    • pekikuubik

Bravely Second is the ability you can use by spending SP.
It’s also the title of the sequel. People have been freaking out about the connotations regarding this, but it seems you missed it.

      • http://jesse-dylan.livejournal.com Jesse_Dylan

Hmm yeah I guess I did. I knew the sequel was Bravely Second, but I’ve been deliberately avoiding gameplay info for the first (until my video binge last night!). I don’t know about any connotations… :)

  • Pockystix
  • Charmchar

    And the wait continues…

  • persona_yuji

So… I don’t want to be the badguy arround here but… Soooo, U.S, how does it feel that now you’re the one’s waiting for a game that will only come out in February? That’s the pain we Europeans felt with P4Golden.

    • Prinnydoom

Really? P4 Golden was painful? I imported it but thats mostly cause i hate waiting and there wasn’t any europe specific DLC. P4 arena Now that was painful.

      • persona_yuji

I was trying to stay on the portable department but sure, ok.
Yeah you IMPORTED it, I don’t like importing stuff so to me P4G was a painful waiting session and so was P4A.

        • Trismagistus

That’s some personal issue with you. The fact is, you had the option to import P4G and chose not to, you inflicted that “painful waiting session” on yourself. The 3DS is region-locked, so we don’t have that
choice. It was a bad and irrelevant example.

    • SMT

True pain is SMT4, because it’s not even out yet, yet there were at least 5 stories here on siliconera “SMT4 now on sale”…

And tons of games for the PS2 got to Europe much later than the US, and not having a 60Hz option in some was a pain…

    • 하세요

Eh, 2 months really isn’t a huge deal to me. I’m so used to waiting compared to Japanese release dates that this doesn’t even faze me.

    • NUBFIGHT4

I don’t feel anything really. I still have Pokemon XY and SMT4 to finish.

    • http://twitter.com/puchixseda puchinri

      Lol, awfully smug, huh?

I do feel for EU that they have to wait often, but I wouldn’t say it’s something most people rub in their face (to be rude, anyway).

February isn’t that far off though, and it’s a fair enough wait since plenty of other games came out so recently.

    • http://burnpsy.wordpress.com/ burnpsy

You guys only have to wait for a handful of titles compared to North America nowadays. Honestly, for the past few years, every game I would’ve actually bought came out in Europe either at about the same time or a full month or more faster over there. Or you guys get it at the same time with an additional incentive on top of that.

It feels like we’re having this conversation about the inverse of the “usual” happening, but it is no longer usual. It’s just specific publishers at this point.

You get Nintendo-published games that aren’t their usual IPs quicker. You’re also the only ones getting several titles, like most One Piece games (and the only physical release when you aren’t the only ones) and Inazuma Eleven. In exchange, you have to wait for anything Atlus or XSEED.

  • Go2hell66

will pick up my copy today

  • Raidou

I tried 3 Gamestops yesterday and also one of Ireland’s largest toy stores to buy this yesterday. The gamestops hadn’t even gotten it in and Smyths actually had it but refused to sell it to me because it was “not out yet” despite me protesting that it definitely was. Absolutely ridiculous.

    • Final Aura

reminds me of last year when The last story was released holy fuck it took a week for me to get a copy after its supposedly release smh

  • http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/recognition/21421.html?type=4 Kashell

One hour is too long. I’ll just wait to be surprised.

  • Blur Will

Inside me thinks ninty wants to sell pokemon as many as possible in US
    So they delay this game

  • kureno

Played the game for 6 hours before I reached chapter 1 xd

  • 하세요

Nah, I’ll wait it out. Granted if I really wanted to, I could just get the Japanese version. I got plenty of games on my plate.

  • Junko Enoshima

Agnes sounds great in the AR scene, but a bit awkward in her intro sequence. So far, Ringabel and Edea are my favorites! Oh, and Airy is just…???

For the gameplay, it really looks like FF5. And I really, really like FF5.

  • Chim_era

    muhaha I have it :3

I had to ride to 3 shops to find a copy but I have it :p

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

I’m so mad that this didn’t get a digital release in Japan. What the hell.

  • Rogerrmark

I’m not even mad Europe received it early, really.

Just hope it sell really well,so we could expect a worldwide release for thr Second. And maybe more jRPGs for 3DS.

  • benhofb

For those who want more footage, a user called “Nintendomination” just uploaded two hours of english gameplay. I had to stop myself from watching it though, heh.

  • LDM

I refuse to watch this, so I can avoid spoilers. February seems so far away.
