Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Has Exclusive Raiden Mission On Xbox

By Ishaan . December 9, 2013 . 6:25am

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will have exclusive content on Xbox 360 and Xbox One—namely, the ability to play as Raiden in a “Jamais Vu” mission, as he takes down “Snatchers,” bioroid enemies in the game. A new trailer for the game shows this content off.

While Xbox platforms are getting a “Jamais Vu” mission, PlayStation platforms will get a “Deja Vu” mission, where you get to play as Classic Snake.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be available on March 18th, 2014. The game will be released on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

alright that’s pretty badass i must say.
It’s a shame they’re both exclusive to each cnsole Q_Q

  • BloodyNights

My question is, who does this benefit really? I don’t plan on buying two copies, one on each system. But this seems just a bit silly. Raiden does look pretty cool in the video though. Classic Snake got David Hayter voice over? xD

    • Riseabovethesky

You are absolutely right. It’s a bit like the Cold War, the two sides spent fortune on weapons and it’s pretty much a stalemate until one of them is out of breath.

    • KingGunblader

It’ll benefit Konami, when they sell one console’s “exclusive content” on the other as DLC.

    • Aoshi00

I’ve been playing the AC games on the 360 as well since I prefer achievement and the controller, and I don’t like Ubisoft keep giving PS3 extra missions either, like Benedict Arnold for AC3 and another one for AC4.. I wouldn’t mind if I could get them as DLC later, but they aren’t being sold as DLC ever. well at least I’m getting the 360 ver this time like Peacewalker.. BTW, just finished AC4 last night, the ending was epic and touching, such a grand pirate adventure, and Edward Kenway was a great character..

I guess the purpose is to encourage people to buy one version over the other, like how BB, GS, Amz all have different exclusives.. but yeah, don’t like store-exclusive or console-exclusive contents and missing out anything.. but before that, I still need to finish PW HD, replay MGS4 w/ trophies, & finish Revengeance :(.. lol at the watermelon at the end :)

  • idrawrobots

That is far cooler and more ridiculous than I was expecting.

  • The Watcher

    Looking Good

  • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

Kojima you teasing bastard. Make Snatcher 2.

nice use of ‘creeping silence’ in the trailer too

    • idrawrobots

      THIS 100%

    • Blerg

I know right, they said Body “SNATCHER” and I was like 0_0
this song played and i damn near squealed

    • Daigure

I’m more saddened that the content I’m not getting on my console contains Snatcher references than the fact that Raiden in the playable character, lol.

  • urbanscholar

Honestly exclusive DLC isn’t a shock or new right? What’s always surprising is how publishers 1up themselves just when you think it can’t be any more ridiculous.

  • César H. Sandoval

Man, I know a lot of people hate Raiden, But I really want that XboxONE mission :( IT HAS SNATCHERS! for God’s sake.

    • SnackEater

      I like Raiden.

      • Алексей Гришин

Me too. I really liked him in Sons of Liberty.

      • DarthSithZero

I didn’t like Raiden until Revengeance, He looked way to girly back in MGS2.

    • I was always cool with Raiden. The people who don’t like him are Americans who can’t fathom the idea of a pretty boy being a capable fighter. I mean he beat like twenty Metal Gears! Very jealous of the Xbox owners right now.

      • Glaesum

Not even close. Raiden, in Sons of Liberty, was a freshman solider drafted immediately into the warzone with little to no knowledge of the situation. Not to mention irked the player with his continuous complaints and questioning. Were as Snake on the other hand, a veteran, conducts himself in a calm and professional demeanor.

And its not just Americans who were peeved with young Raiden. That’s a redundant assumption.

      • Zero_Destiny

I think you’re making a pretty big generalization there ………

        • I’m American myself, and most of the complaints did come from the US because of how androgynous he is.

      • Vennamon

Not even close. Raiden, in Sons of Liberty, was a freshman solider drafted immediately into the warzone with little to no knowledge of the situation. Not to mention irked the player with his continuous complaints and questioning. Were as Snake on the other hand, a veteran, conducts himself in a calm and professional demeanor.

        Such a redundant post.

        • Play MGS1 again. That’s exactly how Snake acted. You spend half of the game asking questions on the Codec.

          • Vennamon

MGS1 Snake overall tone of response throughout the game remained fairly in control. Unlike the latter who blubbered on making it difficult to enjoy the rest of the game.

Then again, most of this dislike towards younger Raiden is because he wasn’t Snake.

        • iamamoogle

If I remember correctly, Raiden was a child soldier trained by Solidus (to further play on Snake being the protogé of Big Boss) and is where he got the nickname “Jack the Ripper.” So he wasn’t really a rookie, but not really a normal military soldier.

His complaining and questioning was fitting though… having only officially done VR training… being given the codename Snake, then randomly changed to Raiden… thrown into an offshore Oil Cleanup facility where everyone but him knew of it’s real purpose… and no one, not even his girlfriend would give him a straight answer…

  • Nice Boat Quatro

    The narrator is so dramatic

  • Ness Edgeworth

    Thats pathetic.

  • Rohan Kishibe

Raiden isn’t using any of his blades in this promo. This has me worried….

    • Brandonmkii

Maybe he showed up without any of his equipment. I mean, this is like, decades before MG4 or MGR

      • Rohan Kishibe

Yeah but what’s Raiden without the his High Frequency Blade?

        • pressstart

He would play just like Solid Snake, just like he did for the majorrity of MGS2.

        • Brandonmkii

Raiden was in other games besides MGR you know.

          • Mir Teiwaz

But they showed him as a cyborg. This isn’t the MGS2 era Raiden…this is the MGR Raiden.

THAT is why it’s so weird.

        • A good soldier who is efficient at sneaking, combat and weaponry? Seriously he survived a whole game without being a Robo ninja.

  • 9thsage

I wish companies would stop doing this kind of thing.

    • Keksus

This. Especially because Kojima said he doesn’t like exclusives. I mean how am I supposed to know the full story? I sure as hell won’t buy a Xbox.

      • fearlubu

I cant say for any future DLC, but so far these 2 console exclusive DLCs arent canon. This game is before the snake clones were ‘born’. a pixelated snake and rising raiden has nothing to do with the story.

How the hell did you get 16 ups.

    • DarthSithZero

They just keep supplying the fanboys wars with exclusives

    • ZEROthefirst

I can kind of understand the Deja Vu missions on the PS3/4 since the original MGS has never been on any Xbox platform. But in all honesty I hate that they’re doing this at all by giving fanboys another reason to argue on why they think their console/version of the game is better… not to mention irritate anyone on the other side who probably will never get to play certain missions because of exclusivity.
I don’t really care about these missions, but it would be fun to play these and I know I’ll probably only get to play those Deja Vu missions.

  • FlameEmperor

Sooooooooo no one is gonna question the watermelon?

    • BossBullet

I question it but I realized the watermelon was in mgsr before it became mgrr.
In the beta clip you saw raiden cutting a watermelon.

  • xAKUM3TSUx

Looks cool, sadly I cant afford two copies but it’s still interesting. One thing though: isn’t this before the 1rst MGS? Raiden is wearing his nanosuit fro MGRR which takes place after MGS4. When does this game take place? I’m confused again…@[email protected]

    • Nice Boat Quatro

And there is also a MGS1 Snake who isn’t even anatomically correct.

Whatever is your question I can answer it with the holy word: Nanomachines

      • Arcana Wiz

nanomachines! these little things are the answer to every question about humanity!

    • doubleO7

The narrator called him “a man from a dark, distant future.” So… probably has something to do with time travel. But its probably just a fanservice mission with no ties to the main plot of Ground Zeroes.

  • I… really wouldn’t mind an entire shooter starring Raiden. It could be a cross between Vanquish and Metal Gear Rising. This mission alone looks awesome.

    • Nice Boat Quatro

That sounds awesome. I bet z_merquise would 100% approve this

    • z_merquise

      • Seven of The Scions

        What!? No sword fighting???

  • Go2hell66

Can’t we just have Metal Gear Rising 2 instead?

    • Nice Boat Quatro

But KojiPro can’t develop it. P* is now busy porting it to PC

  • Suzaku

Well, guess I’ll just wait for the innevitable Complete Edition that includes Ground Zeroes, Phantom Pain, and all the DLC.

  • evilmajikman

Oh. This is gonna piss off the Snatcher fanbase which has been waiting for a sequel.

And the Cold Consoles War strikes again.

    • neogeno

Its funny, I read articles everywhere talking about how silly it is for gamers to start console wars.

This is a prime reason why Console Wars exist. This is fuel for it.

and is happening since the SNES and GEN era

  • Nitraion

T_T this is kinda stupid i want to play both extra mission in one console…

  • idrawrobots

I love exclusive console content when only my system of choice gets the extra content.

  • Strongarm Thunderbeard

PC special edition with both included maybe?
    Probably not.

  • dahuuuundge

How does this work? I thought Raiden only did VR missions until the Big Shell Incident

    • Naruto

This is raiden after the events of metal gear rising.

      • Everything in Raiden’s life has all been one grand lie. This is him in a VR Mission.

  • Ferrick

is this the sequel to this ?

    • Daigure

      This comment wins forever.

  • Prinnydoom

    So how does…..why is…how did……………..what?

  • surakian

This is cool, you know. Snatcher reference, MGR Raiden, and it’s all in Ground Zeroes.

But why the hell are these things exclusive? They are only doing a disservice to their fans by doing this.

  • Mir Teiwaz

Why is Cyborg Raiden in Ground Zeroes and WHY ISN’T HE SLICING THINGS UP IN BLADE MODE?!?!?

    • Nice Boat Quatro

Boris won’t give him the money to get a new sword

      • Mir Teiwaz

What about the blades he gets in the game? :<

        • Nice Boat Quatro

Em, em… Well, about that…. Nanomachines!

          • Mir Teiwaz

Even in death, Armstrong is too strong.

  • alfare

I thought the plot of Jamais Vu will be a spin off sorta thing, so it means we won’t be missing anything from the main story. I think there was mention in the video that Raiden came from some dark future.

    I mean, aliens?
