Fable Anniversary, a remake of the original Fable, will launch on February 4th in the U.S., February 7th in Europe and February 6th in Asia, Microsoft and Lionhead Studios announced this morning.

In addition to redone graphics (click on the images to enlarge), the remake has been updated with a checkpoint system during quests that automatically saves your progress, in addition to which you can also create a manual save at any point in time.

I’d be all over this game….if it wasn’t being released in February

  • GoopLord

cool, but that kid in the second picture looks like he’s 30 years old.

    • Freud_Hater

Hah! Glad I’m not the only one that thinks that Oo

How crazy that it’s already been about 10 years since the first Fable came out..as short as it is, It’s still one of my absolute favorites from my Xbox days.

I’m still jealous that my friends got to play through the Lost Chapters content so this will finally let me see things for myself.

    • NRool

I won’t spoil anything, but I got the Lost chapters back in the day, and all I will say is, “It’s pretty damn good, not mind blowing, but still worth the extra dosh”

I hate what they did to Jack. Granted, I understood the voice actor in the orginal was busy; but the new actor had a different tone that didn’t make much sense. In the orginal Jack was clam and wasn’t at all Joker like. But in Lost Chapters the new voice actor had a “I’m Crazy” tone that didn’t make sense till Lost Chapters where Jack acts completely crazy (which the new voice actor did a good job on).

        It’s just a pet peeve.

Its not a new voice actor, from what has been said only a few times, the voice actor didn’t return but they just took the voicework that was already recorded and deepened it

          • Derek E Nay

            Fooled me.

      • CptPokerface

I know some of the details, but I personally believe that seeing something has more of an effect than simply hearing about it, so I usually don’t mind spoilers too much. Fable 3 was far too short lived for me, so I think it’ll be nice to go back to my favorite game in the series, relive what made me love it in the first place in a fresh coat of paint and extra content.

Dude time goes flying. You know what I’m dying to see remake on 360 is Kung Fu Chaos that game was a top 10 in my chart. I’m so happy that they completely redid the whole Fable game, breath taking.

      • CptPokerface

I had a demo of this game..played that demo disc right into the ground, Lol. Original Xbox had so many games I grew to love.

I’d practically kill for a restored Kotor 2 on consoles or even a sequel or successor to Jade Empire.

  • John Pena

Awesome, now just waiting for it to be 19.99. Since so many games are coming out on feb. and march. that are day one purchases!!!!

  • Codex

Really hoping this ends up as a Steam release too, would love to play through this game again x)

  • Allec Ribeiro

Oh, they’re making the Anniversary Edition a crossover with BioShock, how nice.

  • Hector Velar

and this is HOW you make a re-make! /applauds. Hope that the rest of the industry is paying attention to Lionhead, I’m sick of remakes with nothing much added to them they just do a re-rendering in HD and try to milk money out of a franchise. Thanks Lionhead, I can’t wait to get my hands on this title, looks beautiful!

    • malek86

Apparently it even runs in 1080p, pretty surprising for a 360 game (whether it’s proper 1080p or not). Between this and Halo Anniversary, it doesn’t seem like MS wants to skimp on their remakes.

I might have to eventually pick this up, I often hear that it’s the best game in the franchise.

    • MrRobbyM

To be fair, remakes and remasters don’t mean the same thing.

      • Hector Velar

to be fair if you read the first sentence of this article it clearly reads remake. You may use the word remaster to describe the level of excellence presented in a remake, but clearly remake is remake. That Lionhead went all the way out is to be taken notice and hope that we will continue to see other games remake by which their creators put that much effort and attention. Look I don’t want to start a war over this. Lets just be glad that the 360 still has some life on it and we still yet to probably see its best.

  • Johnnyxt

not much of a difference to me. surprising how it can only improve so little in 10 years.

  • James Reilly

Somehow throw Reaver in this game.

  • カルロ ランバルディ

Fable was awesome, the sequels suck and fuck those graphics are shit for a remake even on 360.
