Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse Is Almost Complete

By Ishaan . December 30, 2013 . 5:00pm

Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, originally released for Nintendo DSiWare, is coming to PC via Steam. WayForward Technologies recently reported that they’re at work on the PC version of the game, slated for release in 2014.

The PC version will tentatively be called Shantae: Risky’s Revenge Director’ Cut, as the game will include the “best parts” of the original DSiWare version along with some of the updates included in the iOS version.

Shantae: Risky’s Revenge is planned for Steam release in the second quarter of 2014.

In the meantime, WayForward are also developing Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse for Nintendo 3DS, which they say is “nearing the finish line,” adding that “By the time the last snowfall of Winter melts you should all be happily enjoying a brand new adventure in Sequin Land!”

Finally, also in development is Shantae: Half-Genie Hero for PC and consoles.

  • Looking very forward to this game! There’s a lot of 3DS digital games I really gotta pick up, sometime.

  • Pockystix

more Shantae is always a good thing.

I started the first one, need to go ahead and finish it. I really like the design of this series.

Thinking of buying it too, and for $5 it doesn’t look too bad either.

Looking forward to playing Shantae:Half-Genie Hero & Shantae and the Pirates Curse. (My first two Shantae games).
Hopefully these games sell well for WayForward so they can plan for more Shantae titles in the future.

As a big Shantae and WayForward fan, and a backer of the console Shan’tae, after paying $39 for one of the worst games I’ve played in recent memory (Adventure Time) I hate to say I’m a little more trepidatious than usual for a WayForward title.

    • MXC

Why would you even play an Adventure Time anything let alone buy for $40?

      • His point is still valid. Wayforward’s output is so variable. I’m definitely hoping Shantae isn’t in line with their shovelware titles.

I think they have a little more respect for something they self publish.

          • Brimfyre

Even their licensed titles have been better than most licensed games.
It would be one thing if Adventure Time was ok or decent but it was HORRIBLE. It didn’t have a single redeeming feature.

And to answer MXC’s comment above, I’m a big fan of Adventure Time and WayForward, so I thought I would enjoy it even if it wasn’t fantastic, but again, it was unplayable garbage in line with ET for the 2600.

Apparently the first Adventure Time developed by WayForward was good.

I really wish they’d decided to do that kickstarter after releasing the PC port and sequel.

The paypal donations are still open.

        • wasn’t

  • HassanJamal

Cant wait to play this game on vita.

    • D-Omen

      But The Pirate’s Curse is a 3DS exclusive…

  • Hinataharem

I had no idea there was an IOS version
