YES ONE OF MY FAVORITE PS2 GAME SERIES! THANK YOU

    • Godmars

Um, sorry, but this is a browser game which “borrows” the Onimusha name. Is strategy title, not adventure.

Also likely will never leave Japan.

      • Logan Moll

There is already an Onimusha Tactics game, so this isn’t entirely new. Sure, it’s not like the main series, but it could be good.

        • Godmars

The real point is that its very likely JP only.

Nevermind that it might be pay to win.

      • Reki Honoo

I don’t care if it borrows the name as you said. It is still part of the onimusha franchise. Besides, a lot of other games in video game series sometime changed the type of game they were for spinoffs.

        • Duo Maxwell

You’re happy that they are trampling on your favorite series?

        • KnifeAndFork

          You must be trolling…

        • Unlimax

This is why Capcom never been good in the industry these days .. because of these blind “loyal” fans like this user who accept anything from the company with open hands and suggest them to do more of the same even if it costs losing the basics of the original games.

  • http://fr.twitch.tv/Nhatalya Aleksandrina

    Great artworks, shitty game.

Onimusha, the true series, is dead.

    • Skeptika Crediblus

Yeah, unfortunately it’s another great franchise that Capcom didn’t know what to do with and tossed into its toybox of dead franchises.

      • Ric Vazquez

And that is one of the main reasons they are almost bankrupts.

    • fairysun

I think Onimusha should not be touched anymore. Canonically the event is over (if you play the game, you know what I mean). Unless some Guildenstern disciples invent a time machine and they went back in time.

Now, Megaman series, that is a different story.

      • almostautumn

And Powerstone. and Viewtiful Joe. And Project Justice. And—

For a company that believes in utilizing series over IP’s, they sure DON’T know how to pick ‘em.

        • k.b.a.

          most of their new ones are butt. i hear decent things about lost planet but remember me and dragon’s dogma? i know people like the latter but graphically it needed some work imo. i remember dark void and bionic commando being bombs as well, not mentioning what they’ve done to resident evil with 6 and ORC. ;dmc;
with the direction they left onimusha on, i don’t know that it’d be the best thing continuing. great games the best thing would be to keep the gameplay to make something new. and good. emphasis on good.
i feel like i’m becoming with the guy with a capcom axe. ok with that

  • Luis Camargo

I read this before today. But I read first Onimusha Soul comes for PS3 and I forgot about this F2P game.

Capcom sure knows how to give me a heart attack and dissapointment very quickly.

I can only beg we get a new Onimusha game. Please.

  • ivanchu77

Another great franchise killed by Capcom -_-

  • Yan Zhao

Another series made by Inafune, buried forever.

  • Roberto

    why capcom why you did this ;-;

  • megaten666

At the very least Capcom should release an Onimusha HD Collection, not… this.

    • Happy Gamer

Oh that’s right, I kept thinking there was, but I think it was some sort of ps2 collection, not a HD one. DMC got one, I think Onimusha should get one too!

      • KnifeAndFork

Yeah….adding proof to Capcoms cluelessness, that collection was released late 2008, a good 2 years after the PS3′s release. So obviously no one bought it

What makes me MAD is that seems like those companies forget who made them be what they are today. I´m not saying that they shouldn’t show some love for the mobiles, but c’mon, priorize the home console/portable console.

  • Brandonmkii

It’s not like this game is new or anything. Don’t know why people are just getting mad about it.

    • http://fr.twitch.tv/Nhatalya Aleksandrina

Because this news has reminded us how much we love Onimusha. Well, I meant the “old” Onimusha.

      That’s all~

  • SetzerGabbiani

God, I loved the series. Damn shame what they’ve done to this and Breath of Fire. Oh well, $$$$ talks.

  • Happy Gamer

I really wanna see a legitimate Onimusha sequal! I was waiting the entire ps3/xbox 360 era for one, but alas none :( I really enjoyed the Onimusha series and I remembering buyin ps2 just to play the 1st game from walmart! lol

    • k.b.a.

is that a sequel so good it makes you squeal? or featuring squalls?

  • James Williams

I want to replay number 2 again now, i want to give everyone the best gifts.

  • DanteMasamune

Its pretty sad when it gets to the point when only 1/5th of news related to Capcom is good news (whether it be for gamers, Capcom fans, or just for Capcom).

  • brostar

Capcom “What’s that? You want us to bring back our old franchises? Sure thing buddy! Introducing Dino Crisis Social!”

It pains so much to see Capcom screw themselves like this. If they just listened to their customers then maybe they wouldn’t be in financial difficulty.
Some will argue in their favor but Capcom will go under if they keep fucking with their existing customer base.

  • http://www.segalization.com/ Kuronoa

Saw a trailer for it, gameplay doesn’t interest me very much. A shame because I like Onimusha and I like the artwork for this game.

    • k.b.a.

so a free browser card game will be coming to consoles for how much??

  • Spirit Macardi

“Onimusha Soul is a strategy RPG and features characters from the PS2 Onimusha games”

Umm, no. This has none of the characters from the Onimusha games. I’ve seen the artwork, and nowhere in it did I see Samanosuke, Soki, Jubei, or even Jacques Blanc.

    • hng qtr

Akane was also on the first page on Google.

      • hng qtr

Most of the other images on Capcom’s wiki are cameos from characters of other Capcom games though.

        • Linhua

          … Kaede was my favorite character… =

  • http://shadious.tumblr.com/ Vince

Well, Megaman Zero and Megaman.EXE after all were unlockable guest characters back in Onimusha Buraiden, IIRC.

    • k.b.a.

that game woulda been great if they just cut the crap and went full on smash? y’know in tropic thunder how they said never go full tard? alot of brawlers try to go half smash. no. always go full smash. go full and another full smash. pour all of your heart into it. let’s go fighting love, yo

  • Unlimax

Its a Browser game CAPCOM For crying out loud !!!?
    Where’s the 3D Onimusha games , Where’s the HD Collection Edition ?

  • Mitsukiix

i love the pc game~~ i play it all the time when i dont have anything else to do. can’t wait to buy it for ps3 the game deserve it.

  • Syn

Ahhhh capcom, a company with one of the strongest franchise portfolios out there, and yet shafting themselves one title at a time, I mean wow, an F2P browser game of a beloved action RPG, just wow.
