Here We Go Again. Atlus’ Nintendo 3DS Games Are Going On Sale Once More

By Ishaan . January 13, 2014 . 9:00am

It’s starting to feel like Atlus’ Nintendo 3DS games go on sale very often. This week, once again, a bunch of them will be available at discounted prices off the Nintendo eShop. The following games are now available at “over 30% off,” which amounts to $19.99 each:

Code of Princess

Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers

All three titles will be on discount until January 20th.

Is Atlus the only 3DS game company that want to please its customers? Nintendo can learn a thing or two from Atlus.

    • ronin4life

They have sales on e-shop games all the time too actually.
Not *great* sales, but they have happened.

      • Not really on 3DS games. More on retro games which are already slapped with high prices since everyone can play them on emulators on their PC. Atlus is all about its fan base and I respect them deeply for that.

        • ronin4life

They don’t have retail games on sale(to be fair, prices rarely drop for many of these titles at physical retail as well…) but the eshop only games like Pushmo and dillon have.

        • Spirit Macardi

Comparing doing something legally for a price and illegally for free is some messed up logic.

I mean, you can also play current games for free if you pirate them, but it’s still against the law to do it.

          • except you can’t play 3DS games illegally? What I meant was where’s the incentive of shelling out 5 bucks for a 10 yo game you can get for free elsewhere? Other developpers are smart enough to capture gamers by other means. Exhibit A: Atlus always packages goodies for their retail games and you can always expect sales for their newer games. Even the DLC for SMT4 was on sale.

          • Zoozbuh

I completely understand what you mean to be honest. It’s VERY rare that Nintendo/first-party full retail titles are on sale. Especially in the EU shop, where most are either £39.99 or not on the eShop at all!

          • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

I was reading awhile back that Nintendo have a contract with game shops that says they’re not allowed to sell first party games below a certain price. Which is probably why Super Mario 64 still cost $40 in 2001.

          • M’iau M’iaut

No real need for a grand conspiracy. Nintendo just doesn’t reduce MSRP as often and provide paybacks to allow for a $10-15 price reduction. Therefore prices don’t drop. Also even with a Mario title there are few things which get an initial press on the scale of a CoD or Madden — so the demand is always looking for supply.

It’s sad, really. Tomorrow on PSN we get a lot of 75%off sales. Some from games that aren’t even a year old.

While on eshop I have to pay full price for a nintendo game that launched 3 years ago and no even had a price drop.

At least we have third parties to save us.

Not only Atlus. At least Capcom made a price drop for Resident Evil Revelations, for example.

    • I’d like to say otherwise, but I can’t seeing as it’s not really Atlus’s fault. I will admit they’ve tried their best. What I’m talking about is the fact that both Europe and Australia are still waiting for SMT IV. Well, for me, it’s Etrian Odyssey Untold that I’m impatiently waiting for.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

Guys, this isn’t the place to whine, take it somewhere else

    • brostar

As long it’s related to the topic at hand I don’t see a problem. You guys at siliconera need to stop censoring discussion.

      • MrSirFeatherFang

People whining about the localization of Atlus games for Europe has nothing to do with an Atlus 3DS game sale in the eshop for NA.

        • brostar

Well it kinda does when these games have been available in America long enough to get sale and we still have to pay full price.

          • Ouch My Head Said Dionysus

      • Ferrick

gotta love conspiracy theorists like you ;)

        • brostar

I’m not a conspiracy theorist. I’ve seen Siliconera mods before just cut conversations out to avoid drama. Which I understand why they do it but it feels like censoring. Like you’re not allowed to state a controversial opinion on Siliconera. Because someone might get upset and start flaming you.

          • Ferrick

you do know that’s different than actual censoring right ? (also, whining is also quite useless so cutting that down doesn’t add anything nor does it decrease anything)

          • PreyMantis

I guess because people get upset and flame wars occur are the reasons why some comment threads are cut. Whining doesn’t help because, come on, who wants to read a comment section full of people whining? What I don’t like is that they sometimes stop calm constructive arguments just because they drag on.

    • KnifeAndFork

You’re right this isn’t a place for discussion

  • Blue_Falcon

Honestly, for the amount of times they’ve put their games on sale, wouldn’t it just make more sense for them to drop some prices permanently?

(Then again the sales give them continued exposure on certain sites, so maybe this makes more sense)

  • I don’t know why people are whining… If anything this is just a good opportunity to get your hands on some more Atlus games, and if you already got them in the last sale then wait for PersonaQ and some new releases this year. lol, its a win-win.

    • Edward Parker

I agree, how can a sale be a bad thing ???

    • Yes! Less crying form my poor, poor wallet.

      • Yah :c, My Wallet has been taking huge hits almost every month lately. Guess It just means its gonna be a good year of gaming :)

        • Agreed, It’s nice to have so many games out/coming out and so many lovely announcements! I grab what I can during sales to save as much money as I can ( >_< )

          • lolol! I love supporting the company any all by paying full price for the game, but I still feel like the e-shop doesn’t have enough sales. I feel kind of selfish for saying this, but there’s too many good games coming out so, we need more sales!! >.>

          • Haha It’s not selfish at all! I would love to pay full price for every game I want to support or even pre-order for the nice additions, but budget wise I know it’s just not going to happen. Gotta prioritize what you REALLY want first (Sometimes I flip a coin ._. ) Sales make it so I can get allll the games I want and not just some :D

          • LOLOL Flip that coin! Totally agree with you mate :)

          • XD! Haha yeees the ultimate way of answering the “which do I choose” question!

  • MrTyrant

Buuh I wanted the discounted one for Millenium Girl. I bought Etryan Odissey IV in December haha

  • mojack411

Dang, was hoping EO:U would be on that list. Would’ve bought that so quickly. Already have these 3.

    • AuraGuyChris

Knowing Atlus, expect another sale at the end of this month.

  • Periklis

Yeah , great for the US costumers. But I’ve only one thing to say. If they want-need to increase their sales , they need only bring SMT4 to Europe. 2014 and we still don’t have a date!

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    Atlus is so based

  • I still haven’t gotten Soul Hackers. I am super tempted but Bravely Default comes out next month too! Uggh I don’t know if I should get it or not (@_ @ )

    • NimbusStev

You most certainly should. I picked it up during the holidays and I’m loving every minute of it! Old school dungeon crawling, 90s themed characters, an interesting story, good voice acting… even some gameplay hacks for the more impatient gamers of today.

If you’re a fan of SMT at all, don’t pass this one up! :D

      • Gah The temptation… I’ll give in haha. I am a huuuge fan of the SMT series so I shall get it. I’ve been on the fence and then other games came out and distracted me (>_< ) But it's on sale so might as well.

    • Edward Parker

Breavely Default is really good too!

      • Indeed it is! The demo was like a thin slice of yummy cake. Man I can’t wait to play the full game! I do lvoe the fact that you wont have to just rely on streetpass as there is next to no one where I live with a 3DS so streetpass games are fustrating haha(x..x )

  • natchu96

Was just debating on whether I should pitch in for one of the 3DS EO games or wait for a different game like Bravely Default . . . lol.
