Resident Evil 4 Coming To PC With HD Graphics, 60fps

By Ishaan . January 21, 2014 . 8:15am

Resident Evil 4 is coming to PC with high-definition and a framerate of 60fps, Capcom announced this morning. The game will be available starting February 28th for $19.99 / €$19.99 via Steam. (As always, Europe will also see a retail release.)

Before you ask, yes, Resident Evil 4 on PC will include the “Separate Ways” bonus episode. The game will also include Steam platform support with Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, Steam Trading Cards, global leaderboards, and full game controller support.

As some may recall, a PC version of Resident Evil 4 already exists, but is generally regarded to be a subpar experience. This version of the game was published by Ubisoft in 2007 and lacks support for keyboard and mouse controls.

    Talking about coming from nowhere…

Also, 20$ is not a bad price… if you don’t have a game.

  • cloudcaelum

What about mouse acceleration problem fix?

  • KnifeAndFork

Meh too late don’t care. Modded my PC version to look better than anything Capcom could lazily come up with

  • Servant BerserCAR

Thanks Capcom, we have waiting for this for 9 years.

…the only problem is that most 3rd party mod and config already give existing resident evil PC edition the ability to run at Full HD or even above resolution while having updated textures, even newer character models and textures being reworked entirely… also adding a plethora of gameplay options among the mix… not to mention the ENB series which add extra post process lighting effects that would give this PC Rerelease a run for its money
…the only thing mods haven’t been able to done is lifting the 30fps limit… but this can be alleviate somewhat with motion blur mod

(also mod can’t modify low res pre-rendered cutscenes though)

…but with the existing PC version looking a millenia better than this new HD version, while being more flexible in absolutely everything and only lacking in framerate… this is just a very low value offering
*Unless this HD rerelease uses similar code to the old version, which would allows modder to port their pre-existing mods easily… but this is just unlikely*

P.S: 60% of my gaming is done on console, 10% iOS devices, and only a 30% of PC gaming (with 25% of PC gaming consist of Touhou games only, and 3% other niche Japanese games)
*Just throwing this out there in case someone accusing me of being a PC gamer*
*EDIT: I meant to say at the last part that some may mistake me for those guys who constantly brag about how PC is better with its modding capabilities and superior to console*

I’m giving you a like just because I find it funny that you have percentages of your gaming XD

    • mikanko

      You PC Gamer You.

    • anarchy_panty

I’m going to need to see some Excel sheets in order to verify those percentages.

No statistic ;A;, but for modern contemporary consoles, I have a PS3, Wii U, 3DS, PS Vita
…and for PC… these are LITERALLY the only games available on my computer -__-”
…used to play Skyrim and Resident Evil 4 HD Mod a lot on my computer, but a long and funny story has now made my $3000 investment into a Touhou machine, incapable of other games -_- (Thus the 25% part).

“Just throwing this out there in case someone accusing me of being a PC gamer”

…Accusing? Did being a PC gamer become some sort of criminal status while I wasn’t looking? Because if that’s the case, LOCK ME UP AND THROW AWAY THE KEY!

On topic, I’m happy that this game is getting a more proper treatment on PC this time around. That said, what I’m wondering is whether or not it’s going to have (proper) mouselook. The lack of mouselook in the original PC port (which mods couldn’t entirely fix) was the reason I decided to pick up the Wii version instead (probably the only time I’ve ever chosen a console version over a PC one).

      • Peace Legacy

Sorry, should have definitely phrased it better as:
“…before someone accusing me of being a part of the Glorious PC Master Race who cares more about graphics than fun”

        • Kaihedgie

“…Accusing? Did being a PC gamer become some sort of criminal status while I wasn’t looking?” It’s not hard to understand why he says it like this: PC gamers have this superiority mentality sometimes

    • Lalum

PC is the best, technically speaking. Only reason I own anything else is for exclusives.

    • pressstart

What about the trees and branches? I remember the PS2/PC version having less of it than the GCN version. And what about any extra effects that were lost on the PS2/PC version?
If you go by how a lot of PC gamers and now gamers in general rant about 60fps, this port would be very valuable for that alone.

      • Peace Legacy

If I recall correctly, there was an official patch from Capcom themselves that fix the missing lighting and fog issues (not sure if it fixes the missing tree branches though)

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Thats fine. I emulated it on Dolphin and it looked amazing.

  • ndjn3979

Wow, AGAIN? This game is getting tired, platform-regardless.

  • Brimfyre

I love this game, but I can probably go the rest of my life without ever playing it again.

  • cmonandslam

Now lets see an updated DMC3 version

    • hazelnut1112

I would want to see this as well. The DMC HD Collection for PC would be perfect.

    • Kaihedgie

What’s the point if that’s what you already had?

  • Betrayer

Well, looks like I’m buying this again.. Already have it on GC, PS2 and PS3…. Always good to have it on PC~

  • eilegz

now all modern re its in pc in HD good stuff. Now hoefully capcom make re7 with jill and claire please

  • malek86

I already have it on GC and PS2… not sure that I want to buy it again, but then, none of those versions are easily playable today for me. Maybe when it goes on sale?

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

pretty sure Fans already did this with textures and Mods

  • Kaien

My Steam library need this. I’ll re-re-re-replay it again.

  • SirRichard

I wonder if it’ll have the same sound issues as the PS3 HD release? Not that I feel up to buying it yet again, really.

  • TrevHead

Thats good news since I wont have to buy the overpriced version on the 360.

    Code Veronica HD next please.

  • Great game!

  • Well about time!

  • Quan Chi

How come nobody is mentioning the wii version? I would get this if there was a ‘mote’ scheme on pc.

  • Tonton Ramos

Hope this comes on the next gen console especially the Wii-U they really need 3rd party games atleast this game…

  • If the images on the Steam page are from the new version, these “HD graphics” look horrible.

  • Anthony Birken

    Gonna enjoy this~
