Square Enix have shared a trailer for the limited and collector’s editions of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster in North America for PlayStation 3. The limited edition comes packaged in a special case and you’ll receive it if you pre-order the game.

Meanwhile, the collector’s edition features the following items:

  • 40-page hard-bound collector’s edition artbook
  • Five lithographs of Yuna and Tidus
  • Original soundtrack with over 6 hours of music set to visuals and art

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be available on March 18th in North America.

  • I think the LE originally came with the OST, right? I don’t mind that they adjusted things though. At least you get a minor upgrade for free.

Either way, I want that CE! Tis so sexy, and I want that music. Is it the original and remixes though? Or just one or the other?

    • DemonShadowX

If I recall the LE was always just the Artbook and the really cool alternate cover art/slipcase.

      • Really? Huh, I thought I saw the OST too, but I do remember the artbook actually. You’re probably right.

  • DemonShadowX

The CE looks nice, but I stopped collecting CEs once I realized I’d never have space to display or really store the extras…..plus who wants a soundtrack on a Blu-Ray?

    • whatinthewolrd

She said you can download the soundtrack as mp3 which is the most convenient way to listen to music today.

      • D H

Mm, some of us still use our CDs though, hard as that might be for others to believe.

Anyways, that “special case” is what kills it for me; I’ll pick up the soundtrack on its own if they ever do release a CD version, and I’ll just wait for the standard version to hit, if it doesn’t right away. While I do love collector’s editions, I’m a stickler for having my collection look uniform on the game shelf, and homemade printings just don’t cut it on a system that comes with cases and covers already.

        • whatinthewolrd

Sounds like you would expect a cassette if it was the year 2001…

          • D H

Well, y’know, when 99% of the rest of Square-Enix’s musics releases are still put to CD, it seems kinda fair to expect this to as well, no?

I’m sorry, but I don’t have an MP3 player other than my computer, my car doesn’t support MP3 on disc, I don’t have/need/want a “smart”-phone, and all of the music related items in my house work mostly with CDs, not MP3s, because I haven’t been able to afford or wanted to “upgrade” them in the last seven-eight years.

Something that is “most convenient” for you isn’t necessarily the most convenient for the next person, so please remember that…

          • whatinthewolrd

That is like saying the HD remake should be for the PS2 because you haven’t upgraded to a PS3 and it would be more convenient since their old games were on the PS2 as well.

Basically, I want you to invest in a $20 dollar MP3 player with 2GB of space so that you can take about 20 soundtracks worth of music in your pocket to your bed, your bathroom, your kitchen, the gym, and in your car with a $2.99 double auxiliary cable. If you do this, you will forever be in my debt.

  • Chris Yuen

Still waiting to see what kind of packaging we are going to get for the Vita edition of the HD Remaster…Japan got a pretty cool one with the Limited Edition cover, but we are getting X-2 as a download code…so I dunno…

  • So to play the soundtrack, you need to use your Blu-ray player and not a CD player?

EDIT: Upon reading the replies (thanks for the information) I think this is a stupid idea. Sure, you can rip it from one device to the next, but that’s an added step. I guess by this point I should I expect crap like this from Square.

    • I was thinking that too. I wanted to be playing the OST in my car, but it sounds like I wouldn’t actually be able to do that. . .?

      • lordsofskulls

Rip it and put it on cd I see nothing wrong with that since you own the cd.

        • I know, they even say there are MP3s available to be ripped. It just sucks to have to buy CDs when I’m getting one. ;u;

          • lordsofskulls

I agree. That sort of how I feel about just Blu-ray. And not having Combo set with Blu-ray/DVD/digital

    • Chip

The commercial said you can also download the tracks as MP3s.

  • Masa

I remember the last art book i had with a SE game, it was tiny and not worth the extra cash at all….not sure what game it was, Kingdom Hearts maybe. *shrugs*

    • Herok♞

it was Kingdom hearts I remember because it so out of place with the rest of my games

    • Chip

The last one was Kingdom Hearts 1.5, and it didn’t cost extra. It came as standard.

  • JonathanisPrimus

So I guess every Vita copy is a limited edition.

Oh, and I don’t have BD drive for my PC. #listentomystory

    • MaximDualBlade

sarcasm or does the vita version have something like this?

      • TheExile285

it was intended to be a dumbass joke. don’t bother

        • MaximDualBlade

Ok, still getting the vita version, after all my interest is the game XD Of course pre-order limited editions for day one buyers is a nice incentive to buy on release day(kinda redondant sorry XD)

          • TheExile285

FYI, the Pre-Order LE is only for the PS3 version.

          • MaximDualBlade

            I know, thanks.

          • Aqua King

I would prefer the Vita version, except only X is on the cartridge, X-2 comes ‘free’ with the bundle but needs to be downloaded onto your memory card. :/

          • MaximDualBlade

Yes X-2 is download only. It’s not “free” it’s free XD as long as you have space on your memory card, you can download it. I would have liked a physical copy too.

The game is 3.5GB according to some source I read when the release date was announced. You can check for yourself, just to be sure

          • Aqua King

If you need to buy a larger memory card because the download won’t fit, the game isn’t exactly ‘free’ :(

          • MaximDualBlade

I actually did buy one some time after I knew of the X-2 size. I don’t know why they couldn’t put another mini disc on the same case. Must be way more expensive than I think, or Square Enix are just cheap XD

  • Godmars

At one point, hybrid BR/DVDs were a thing.

  • Herok♞

I will be waiting til after its released and I will get both the PS3 version and Vita versions for cross play

  • Monterossa

I’ll buy it if it’s not an SE store exclusive…

  • Izzy Miyake

Well at least they allow you to get the soundtrack as downloadable mp3s, though I would’ve preferred if it was just on a bunch of cds.

  • Altumn

I really want the games soundtrack, but I don’t know how to download Bluray to my computer (if someone can tell me how that would be great). The remasters songs sound so beautiful; different, but beautiful non the less.
I also can’t tell if I want the PS3 or VITA version.

  • Junko Enoshima

I’m a bit miffed that this gets a hardcover book, and not Bravely Default (in the US)…

  • Lavitz

I wish the artbook was separate from the game case

  • tturtlejosh

What about the Vita version I haven’t heard much about it .-.

    • Edzo04

what about it? retail version comes with ffx on the card and a download code for x2 which needs like 3.5gb

  • Both editions are beautiful, but it’s the collector’s edition for me. Also, Teadus lol =P

    • Aoshi00

I like this video better than the other guys changing their shirts lol.. Definitely won’t miss the bigger artbook and ost despite being on bluray, also can d/l MP3.. I’m playing the Jpn ver now, the rearranged soundtrack sounds great, slightly different but not that different, just enhanced. I really wanted the limited edition cover though, at least it’s on one of the lithographs.. And yes,Teedus lol, not like Christopher Titus :p.. Both Ports are amazing and play very smooth, I heard the only thing that drags down the package is the unnecessary addition of the new audio drama :( scared to listen to it…

  • Nightmare637

I would get this if I could pre order through Gamestop or something like that.(the collectors edition, I’m still getting the game.)

  • LDM

Heretic! Off to the Via Purifico you go!

  • Aqua King

Why is the artbook not separate from the case? I will not be purchasing the collectors edition for this reason.
