Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney Will Get Free Mini-Episodes As DLC

By Ishaan . February 6, 2014 . 8:30am

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney will have free downloadable content, just like the regular Professor Layton series does. You’ll get access to the free DLC, which will come in two forms, after completing the game’s main story mode.

The first is 12 additional mini-episodes for the game, and the second is art galleries, with over 60 illustrations and comments from the development team on how they went about bringing Professor Layton and Ace Attorney together.

Additionally, Nintendo of Europe say that Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney will come in six languages. The game features voiceover and text in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Dutch.

Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney will be available on February 28th in Europe. North America will see the game later this year.

Free after completing the story? Sounds great to me!

  • TheExile285

12 Free Episodes & a gallery? That is pretty awesome.

  • John Diamond

    what a rip off.
    should be cheaper than free

    • Zer0faith

Sadly your sarcasm was lost to many.

    • flameraver64

I know right? They should pay me to even download the DLC

  • Rasec46

I though it was March 28th! I would be super happy if it was february but i guess it’s only a typo.

  • Alex

February 28th? I thought it was March, has it been bought forward?

  • mockturtle

I was not pissed when Bravely Default came out in Europe before America, but if the American date for this isn’t at least close to the Euro date, I’m probably going to have an aneurism.

    • EQeE

Now you know our suffering my dear american friend. Sometimes EU doesn’t get certain games at all.

      • mockturtle

You’re right, and admittedly I am just being selfish. But when this was first announced, I flipped the hell out, and the wait has been excruciating. The only game I’m more excited for than this is Bayonetta 2.

    • Michael Richardson

I would expect 4 months or so. They probably want to put some space between this and Azran Legacy.

Oh please tell me you’re not one of those entitled people who thinks all games should come out in North America before Europe because hell there was TONS of people who cried about Pokébank lol

Isn’t a large part of your delay all the different languages?

        • British_Otaku

It could be. Sometimes, they don’t bother with all of the languages for PAL Land but still make us wait a generation or many for a localisation. Sometimes, they localise games worldwide at the same time through proper planning (Pokemon X & Y).

Different circumstances affect different games, that’s why America isn’t getting this early than us just because they wouldn’t appreciate 5 of the languages we are getting.

    Meanwhile at EA headquarters:
    EA: “Incomplete buggy game”.
    “Check”
EA: “Day one NOT FREE DLC.”
    “Check”
    EA: “Specific Retailer Preorder Exclusive.”
    “Check.”
EA: “Our work here is done.”

  • Rinne111

    The release date is wrong

PAL March 28, 2014 is the correct one

  • new_tradition

Free post-game DLC? Oh hell yes~

  • British_Otaku

Retail release, multi-6 goodness and free DLC. Looking forward to this one a lot and wonder whether I can still download the free downloadable stuff for the old DS Layton games…

    • D-Omen

You can, it’s just a bit of a hassle to do on a 3DS because you need to configure a separate connection for DS games.

  • Zoozbuh

This is LOVELY news, all of it!! Looking forward to this one a LOT :D

  • Tom_Phoenix

Excellent news all around. However, I must admit, I’m kind of surprised to see that the game is going to be localised in Dutch as well. I mean, I’m happy for my fellow Dutch gamers, but it’s not a language that often gets this kind of treatment. I wonder if there is a big PL or AA fanbase in the Netherlands.

  • Brandonmkii

I’m still really torn about getting this. Love AA but despise Layton.

  • Göran Isacson

    Multi-language glory. That’ll do, Level 5. That’ll do.

Question tho- will it release in stores as a physical game, or download only?

    • Skyer Ist

Nintendo is the publisher. So, as with every Layton game in US and Europe, this one will be released physically (and digitally on eShop of course).
