In Conception II, Your Star Children Can Be Minstrels, Magic Knights And More

By Ishaan . February 17, 2014 . 1:31pm

In Conception II, you can bring up to nine Star Children into battle, in groups of three. Star Children can be of 30 classes in the game, and each heroine is capable of making Star Children of different stats and classes. Some of these classes were recently introduced by Atlus.

The Cleric should be an early staple of your party. They are key for keeping your party safe with their healing skills, and once they get some experience they can even help revive Star Children should they get knocked out.

Magic Knight:

The Magic Knight is a favorite in our offices for their well-roundedness. They have the brawn to be lethal attackers, skills that can exploit enemies’ magical weaknesses and enough defense to be hearty in battle.

In addition to having the most baller hats in the game, they’re a strong party addition. Not only do they have a skill that attacks and robs an enemy of an item at the same time, but they can also help out in non-combat ways by picking locked treasure chests.

The support role usually goes under-appreciated in RPGs, but the Minstrel is a good option for balancing magic that gives your party better stats while helping lock down enemies with crippling debuffs.

The Swordis are one of the first classes you have access to in the game, and they’re the early game workhorses in the Labyrinth. They are well-balanced physical attackers and defenders, but make sure they’re paired up with someone who can dish out magical damage in order to create an effective team.

Warlocks are absolute nukers against monsters with high physical defenses. They’re a strong magic option to bring into a team of children, but will be dependent on having a good counterbalance of physical attack and healing.

Conception II will be released for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita on April 15th in North America and sometime during Q2 in Europe.

Dat artwork, reminds me a but of Etrian Odyssey without the black shading method. I hope there’s some sort of LE/CE for this game for Vita, because I’m a sucker for an RPG with job classes and 30 is a lot.

    • DAT Bird From DAT Cage

Its probably safe to say Conception II had a greater budget than the first game. Hope its successful so that Conception III can be greenlighted.

      • SlickRoach

I heard the story for the second was twice as long as the first. Never looked into it but hell, I’ll support it.

      • Oscar Alberto Abrego Suarez

It depends how it did in Japan, if it tanked like ZE 2 and 999 then we probably wont have a C 3.

That being said i hope that C 2 has the same gameplay and dating mechanics of 1, that way playing 1 will be much more fun with much more understanding of its mechanics.

    • Kaetsu

The closest thing to an CE is that if you pre-order or buy first print copies, they will come in a special big box and it will come with the soundtrack. I guess it pretty much is a CE.

  • I wonder which version of the game will be better. I have a 3DS, and Vita will be here tomorrow…<_<

    • Demeanor

Wouldn’t the Vita version be a no-brainer, because of the hardware edge?

      • nonscpo

You refering to specs or resolution?

        • Demeanor

Dat gorgeous big screen, res, sound quality :D my personal preference tho (I only own a Vita), if after reading about it you think the 3ds features outshine the Vita, go right ahead :)
Looking around in the forums on games that are on both machines (like Zero Escape, for example) I’ve found the general consensus is to always go with the Vita version.

          • TheGreenHobo

Personally I can’t imagine playing VLR without the second screen. Though it seems the second screen doesn’t add much to this game.

    • Kayseur

Vita version has (slightly?) better graphics / screen, and I read somewhere on this website’s comments that the 3DS’s second screen didn’t add much anyway.

So there’s no real reason not to get the Vita version I think, especially if you’re getting it tomorrow: wouldn’t you want to try out your new toy as much as possible? :)

    • Kaetsu

If you have a vita then get the vita version. You get better graphics and the second screen on the 3DS doesn’t actually do anything.

    • Greg

Even as someone who owns (and loves!) the 3DS, you should get the Vita version. The only reason I would recommend the 3DS version is if you want to have the option of viewing it in 3D and that’s probably a minor concern.

  • DeadLineDance

……………I would normally be on board with a Magic Knight class… but you made them furries.
Oh well, at least the Warlock is cool.

    • TheExile285

    • fireguardiancoty

      I don’t see how that’s a negative.

    • darke

But you’re fine with the Swordis being furries? Don’t like tails?

  • TheExile285

Can’t wait to see the other classes.

  • TheGioG

    Those job classes… so neat.
My descendants deserve nothing less than the strongest variety of classes. Hey, we’ve got to prepare for the next coming of the big bads.
*Classes all children as blond haired Swordis with magnificent sideburns*

  • DanijoEX ♬ the Cosmic Owl

Demon gaze can wait a little longer, this one I’m going for.

  • KoRLumen

  • harmonyworld

I wouldn’t mind trying this out!
I dunno how I feel about pooping out baby kids and making them fight for me, but I do dig rpg with job classes and stuff! :3

  • Eric Harris

That’s pretty cool. This game is sounding like it will be a bit more fun than I originally thought. Better free up part of April for this game on the Vita!

  • Warren

I want Minstrel children! I want the whole family to be badasses!

  • AkiraScare

Oh… That Magic Knight(*_*) fav to… Thanks for lolization and no Censorship XD

  • Kaetsu

I’m hoping this game will be good. I get the feeling the story will suck. I really wish it doesn’t.

  • Croix Zapp

guys, should i preorder this or demon gaze?

    • Kamakuma

Preorder both and have no regrets! *hides empty wallet and empty fridge* Yup no regrets… :’)

  • Ryuki

I’m gonna be the world’s best father.

“Dad! We’re low on hp! Heal us!”
“No! You will be released one day so you have to know how to heal yourself. Have the cleric heal you!”
    “The cleric is dead!”
“Oh. Then this is the part where you have a game over.”

  • Mental

“But Dad, I want to study healing arts!”
“You are gonna be a warrior and you are gonna like it, young man!”

  • Croix Zapp

Damn i can’t decide to get this or danganronpa………
this looks rad but the lack of dual audio might make it bland…i’m not saying Eng VA is bad but they just suck at anything anime-ish especially in a niche game like this

    • Doctor Nebula

Well you have a 2 month gap to prepare for this

    • That’s just like saying English voice acting is bad lol

    • Klarktastic

Yeah, I’m skipping this. I really can’t get around the lack of a japanese dub on a game with so many waifus.

    • Croix Zapp

Well i will need to see reviews first before i buy for sure. Hope it will be as good as dubs in Persona 4 Gold~~
For now i had just bought toukiden, danganronpa and FFX on amazon haha :)

  • In addition to having the most baller hats in the game, they’re a strong party addition.

Couldn’t help but laugh at this.

The support role usually goes under-appreciated in RPGs…

Doesn’t help that in some games make they are redundant by default.

All in all, I’m looking forward to this game. I can finally try out this series. (Still want the first one.)

  • Rinkawa Erion

Another game I’m not buying due to the simple fact that it has no original Japanese voices…

    • MaximDualBlade

Hey thanks for the info. I will tell the next 2 persons I meet today that important reason. It made me care enough to write a sarcastic comment :)

    • darke

I’m just hoping that, unlike Tales of Graces f, you can properly turn off the shitty voice acting if it’s as bad as English VA usually is. :(
