Xseed “Working Hard” On The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky For PC [Update]

By Ishaan . February 17, 2014 . 11:00am

Update: Xseed got in touch with us to let us know that the game is “definitely not delayed to Summer,” and is still planned for release in “Winter 2013/14″. We’ve updated our headline to reflect this statement. The original version of this post follows below.

Original story: Xseed have posted another update on the PC release of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky on their Facebook page.

In response to a fan asking when one could expect to see Trails in the Sky make its PC debut in English, an Xseed representative shared: “We’re working hard on it right now, but unfortunately progress is going a little slower than we had hoped.”

The representative added, “With the polar vortex and all weather things being insane this year, ‘winter’ just may extend all the way into summer, right?”

Prior to this update, Xseed were aiming for an early 2014 release for Trails in the Sky on PC, but it looks as though the wait will be a little longer than that.

    no biggie.

would been cool to have nayuta localized as a side dish.

  • Andrew Arndt

that ok they should take there time with it get all right befor releaseing it

  • sorenman2

That is alright. We know we will be actually getting the game with the best localization.

  • Zer0faith

This is actually good news in the sense that wallet-chan will have time to recover.

Ishaan- Hatsuu’s responded to this article on twitter. You might want to look into it.

I don’t think there’s anything to look into past he dun goofed.

It’s a US holiday Monday. Shit happens. Cut the dude a little slack.

      • http://www.esterior.net/ Endless History

It’s not meant to be a “stop it” sort of thing. I feel that the comments are probably the best place to point out inaccuracies when there aren’t responses on twitter.

It’s a bad idea to leave an inaccurate article up and not edited to correct the inaccuracy.

        • http://www.youtube.com/user/xxHiryuuxx Tohsaka

I’ll give you that, but it does at least say ‘may’ in the title, suggesting that it isn’t a certainty.

          • http://www.esterior.net/ Endless History

I’m not trying to make a fight out of this.

I’m simply trying to provide the correct information so that Ishaan can ensure that the article is up to date, and the comments is, from what I’ve seen, the most reliable way to do so.

I’m not with some of the other commenters that are in here.

          • http://www.youtube.com/user/xxHiryuuxx Tohsaka

I know. I’m not suggesting you’re starting anything. I agree with you.

        • M’iau M’iaut

Not quite sure where the inaccuracy is. The article says ‘may’ which means Ishaan already corrected it, or the mistake really isn’t one. And when posts are being made by the XSeed FB account — how is that any less substantive than an employee’s tweet.

          • http://www.esterior.net/ Endless History

Because you’re read way too much into a comment that seems to clearly be a joke to me. I think we’d have had a different sort of statement if this was officially changed.

At the same time as the comment on Facebook was made, Tom has been saying repeatedly on the XSEED forums that there are delays on it, but nothing that he’s said implies that it will take anywhere near as long as summer.

This isn’t exactly a ‘newsworthy’ deal when XSEED has been talking about it quite a bit in various other places, and has been giving a bit more detail than what you got in that quote above.

Apologies, but I disagree completely. For starters, not everyone lurks on Xseed’s forums and not everyone has the time to either. That Facebook page is Xseed’s link to their fans who don’t have the time to wade through their forums, and they’ve used it on numerous occasions to provide updates about their projects. In the past, I’ve even gotten in touch with Ken to discuss comments that were made on the FB page.

So, for one thing, I do think it’s newsworthy when an Xseed representative says progress is going slower than hoped, and then follows up in the same post by stating that the game could be delayed.

I’m not certain why you would think that was a joke.

          • http://www.esterior.net/ Endless History

I just want to add, as I said above, I assumed a comment like that was a joke because of the manner of the phrasing used, and because Ken HAS made jokes on the facebook account before- just as you said that he has also made statements on the facebook page also.

          • wyrdwad

Endless History is correct. Barring unforeseen complications of the disastrous kind, the game will not be delayed into summer. What’s been reported on here is nothing more than a misguided attempt at being funny, for which Ken will be flogged mercilessly tomorrow. ;)

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

Yup, just spoke to her! I totally did not read that comment on their FB as a joke. I didn’t think Ken would joke about a delay, since they post updates about their projects very frequently via Facebook.

      • http://www.esterior.net/ Endless History

It’s all good! Ken jokes a lot more than people generally expect him to, from what I’ve seen.

I think there’s an article about one of their jokes on Facebook backfiring, so this wouldn’t be the first time, either. I can try to look it up for you.

  • MoriyaMug

Not true, acccording to my friends at XSEED. And I quote from the twitter response: “I think you’re reading into Facebook comments too much. It’s not delayed until summer.”

  • Masa

been waiting so long for this i’m starting to grow grey hairs, xD.
    Xseed though, they are awesome.

    • Tinye

      True that

  • Kaetsu

Now I’ll finally get a chance to play this game :)

  • AlteisenX

Still excited for this. I never finished the PSP version because I was taking it slow waiting to hear news about the sequel and then I just moved on lol. Will gladly come back when the sequel and this releases.

  • DesmaX

Glad it’s not delayed. I know there’s a lot of games to buy, but man, I just want to replay this once again in Full HD Glory.

Replayed the game in the beginning of this year. It’s pretty much the only JRPG that I can start over and over again

    • wyrdwad

Oh, it could very well still be delayed! We’re hoping not, but the possibility exists.

There just happens to be a whole season between winter and summer, and the chances of it being SO DELAYED that it completely misses even spring are pretty slim.

      • DesmaX

Yeah, you can never be sure of anything. Reminds me when Gran Turismo 5 had that last delay before release.

I just though it was actually “announced”

  • Eric Harris

I got a little head of myself I was reading that as Xseed working hard on bringing over the Legend of Heroes series on PSVita.

  • dahuuuundge

This will give me ample time to prepare my wallet for xseeddude’s whopping 31 Steam Trading Cards just for FC.

  • Monterossa

What make it so slow? the game has been translated already for the PSP version.

    • Tatsuya1221

      Bug testing.

  • Tg

Will wait patiently until they can get SC out for the PSP~! ^O^ Take your time, XSeed. Take your time…

  • Slayven19

Even if this had of been delayed it wouldn’t have really mattered to many people. There’s too many games coming out on consoles and PC that will overshadow the title.

  • Endy Operin

“…is still planned for release in “Winter 2013/14″”

Does it mean that they hope to release it within two weeks or this statement shouldn’t be read that strictly?

    • dahuuuundge

According to a Xseed representative, “Well, we’re in QA now. Spring is March 20th, so hopefully we can iron out all the kinks and get it out before then. If not, it’s gonna be very early spring. Literally it’s just debugging at this point, we’ve gotten all the assets we need.”

  • CirnoLakes

I understand the importance of waiting until a product is finished and high quality before releasing it.

    But the emotional part of me wants it now.;_;

    • Tinye

If I pat your head, will you feel better?

  • Göran Isacson

So to clarify, this is the version of the game that was already sold to PSP, right? Any differences between this version and that one?

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/xxHiryuuxx Tohsaka

Blogger. Not journalist. Two different things entirely.
