Toukiden’s Free DLC Crossover With Soul Sacrifice Out Now

By Ishaan . February 24, 2014 . 10:59am

Toukiden’s downloadable crossover mission with Soul Sacrifice is available for free now, via the PlayStation Network.  The DLC contains two missions—Hell’s Guard Dog and Dogs of War. Soul Sacrifice’s Cerberus makes an appearance in both, and is joined in the latter by the Chthonian Fiend.

The DLC comes alongside a version 1.01 update for Toukiden.

Anything on the Soul Sacrifice front?

  • Masa

oh cool, gonna log in and fight this beast now. :)

  • z_merquise

I wasn’t that far in the game so I’m not sure if my character can currently handle this one.

Still, it’s so nice to have free DLCs with actual new content once in a while.

    • SerendipityX

I’m pretty sure I’m not ready. Still in chapter 2. I’m kinda obsessed with upgrading all my weapons and armor to the max and those Windshredder hornbits that just won’t drop.

      • z_merquise

Yeah, it’s kind of annoying if you saw a new weapon or gear but you can’t acquire it because you have a missing part required to create it.

Toukiden is my foray to hunting-type action games (I had God Eater and Soul Sacrifice via PS+ but I only played a bit of it and haven’t put much attention) so I guess numerous grinding is really a part of it.

I remember getting a special item when I defeated a Windshredder with all of it’s parts destroyed (including those horns that will grow when it’s HP is below half). Not sure if that was the Windshredder hornybits hornbits.

        • Anewme…Again

Hornbits come from the horn every bosses have on their head, it’s not guarantee to drop even if you destroy the horn though.

Both mission are 20 stars, so they are far end games mission.

      • Ben Sylvia

        Well that answers my question.

        About half way there. XD

  • The Watcher

Is this free for a limited time?

    • TheExile285

Its just free in general. The DLC is patched in. You don’t need to go to the PSN to retrieve it.

      • The Watcher

Very nice. Thank you for the response

  • pixxxelz

This game didn’t hook me the way I was expecting, the combat system feel so dull all you need to do is equip a defense mitama and you can pretty much take down any boss on your own, soul sacrifice will remain my monster hunting game until SS Delta or GE2 come out in the west

    • SlickRoach

Same here, the combat felt about as rich as the combat in Ragnarok Odyssey. I don’t think any hunting game will hook me like MH and SS did.

    • Anthony Birken

Maybe some Freedom Wars as well? Although that might be a stretch…

    • MaximDualBlade

I had the same thoughts on the game for a week, but it was the only thing I played last week, so I figured that the game is so vastly different from Soul Sacrifice and I love it for what it is

  • Abysswalker90

Is this an actual crossover, or just a level from SS?

Because an actual crossover mission would be phenomenal. Having a mission that can be accessed from both games, and actually playing with people from the other game sounds like a fantastic idea. Sorcerers and Samurais uniting from two different worlds to fight a common enemy…Goddamn.

    • TheExile285

      Its just 2 levels

      • Abysswalker90

        Bubble: bursts.

  • nonscpo

Glad its out but like most people here I’ll probably download it and play the DLC levels later

  • Ben Sylvia

Does it have a weapon and armor set?

I would assume so, otherwise it doesn’t serve much purpose aside from a cameo.

Also how difficult are they? I’m on the missions to break through the barrier, so would I just get completely stomped at the moment on the solo fight?

    • MaximDualBlade

You can access them on ad hoc or onoine sessions(which you can also go solo, if you wish so) and they are 10 red stars, I’m also at breaking the barriers and by my experience, 10 red stars means 1 shot or with chance 2 shot even with my strongest armor with mitama of DEF

Edit: Forgot my main point to answer you XD Pretty fun and difficult XD

      • Ben Sylvia

Yeah XD Tried it for giggles with my Tengu armor.

Died from one air slash. XDXD

I did manage to destroy one head though.

        • MaximDualBlade

It can be done but it takes too long and you have to do it by receiving no hits XD He fights really similar to his SS counterpart. I barely managed to turn a foot yellow before I surrendered XD

  • Coco Martin

Just fought the Cerberus its hard as hell and has more health than the Chthonian Fiend despite the difficulty, I was able to defeat it too bad the Noble Raiment armor is still not yet available on tatara’s shop for crafting maybe you need to clear the 2nd DLC mission to unlock it but having both Cerberus and Chthonian Fiend at the same time is not my cup of tea ….for now

    • Raze

If He’s the same as SS…

You should make a weapon with Earth Element for extra damage and petrify…And Lightning-resist armor…That is if there are element thingy like that in this game….

      • MaximDualBlade

There actually are. I haven’t tried it yet but it would be an awesome detail.

  • .:Raphællius:.

After beating the game in 30 hours i was done.. :/
I have played Soul Sacrifice 200+ hours.

    • MaximDualBlade

Two very different games. I can play SS for like 5h in a row, and I can only play Toukiden for 1-2h max.
