By Ishaan . March 5, 2014 . 8:12am

Atlus USA will release a demo for Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars for Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita, the publisher announced this morning.

The demo will be available in March 25th in North America and will allow you to carry save data over to the full game.

Players that complete the demo will get bonus items to assist them in the full version of Conception II. The full game will be available in North America on April 15th. A European release will follow in Q2, 2014.

    I like the concept.

    • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

You mean the conception lol =P

      • Milewide

        Whatever do you mean? >.>

        • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

          Riiiight lol =)

  • Romored

I find it hard to keep on being interested in this game, knowing it’ll be download-only in EU. If Atlus really wants to do a good thing for us, I hope they reconsider a physical release with some other publisher. I don’t mind waiting a little more for that, it’s not like there are not other games to be played in the meantime. But I really wanted to buy a physical copy of this game, and the lack of it disappoints me hugely.

(now don’t come saying “but you had Senran Kagura Burst on cartridge”, this is not a challenge… It’s a matter of being fair and not partial with all of their fanbase… We already have Square-Enix shafting us, we don’t need other publishers to do the same)

    • Taylor Greene

You could import it from the US?

      • andref

If he has a vita probably, but nintendo is STILL regionlocked

      • Romored

The PSVita version. But I just have a 3DS right now, and not an American one. But even if I did have a PSVita, the problem is: why should I be forced to buy something from a totally different continent? I’d prefer to support my market. There also are shipping and customs to worry about, when importing, that are additional costs. And I don’t have that much money to spend on those.
Most importantly, I find it very unfair of any company to treat differently their customers. If Atlus really wants to expand to the EU market, they should at least do something to guarantee the bare minimum that other (and smaller) companies can do. I don’t care if they can’t publish a limited edition here, I’m fine with just the standard edition. But at least give people a way to choose between physical edition and digital edition. Like NISA always does.

Also, it’s about time Atlus opened at least a small office in Europe, to publish their games.

        • http://twitter.com/#!/kaishou Kaishou

I swear Atlus doesn’t know what Europe is.

  • Jero

I love demos, I’m interested in this game but not THAT interested so I’ll decide by playing the demo.

  • idrawrobots

I think I have watched enough videos to know that I will like this. It’s why I have it preordered, but I will still download and play the demo. Very interested in this Class Mating.

    • Greg

      Me and you both.

    • katamari damacy

Any time you get to combine 2 characters you’ve worked hard on and personally like to create something even greater i’m there.
Fire Emblem Awakening is probably the only fire emblem i liked because of it.

  • Ren Yuumei

Dont know why it reminds me of a pokemon-like concept but im just not feeling this game as much as i want too

  • Michael Richardson

I love this trend of rewarding players for completing the demo version and allowing them to transfer data over.

    • Ric Vazquez

      Agreed

    • Keiji Johnson

Yeah, more games should continue doing this.

  • Nanaki

I’m really enjoying these demos that give you incentive for playing them other than to sneak a peek at what’s to come. Really awesome.

  • konsama

The biggest dilemma, on which console to get? Dx

    • brostar

The Vita seeing as the original was on the PSP. Just makes sense.

    • Serge

The game is the same on both consoles.
Vita have better graphics and the 3ds have a confortable dual screen and a stylus (to avoid thouching the screen with fingers, that leaves oils marks on the Vita screen).
      Whatever you choice, you win.

    • Skeptika Crediblus

Vita. Bigger screen, and the game card won’t eject spontaneously if you breath on it.

      • Kamakuma

This has always been my problem with my 3DS. X’D Playing a game and feeling confident enough not to save then have to put game in pocket… Only to return moments later to “the game card has been ejected.” T.T

        • konsama

I only have one cart to date and it’s W2, and it has never ejected itself from my 3DS, and i carry it everyhwere. EVERYWHERE and in my sidepocket of muh jeans lol.

          • Kamakuma

You lucky ducky you. X’3 It’s definitely a problem when playing x zone but that’s probably the cart itself. V.V

And I take my games with me every where as well which is why most times when it comes to 3DS I save like a maniac. XD

        • Skeptika Crediblus

Same here. or if you pick it up wrong and your fingers hit the back spine.

      • Serge

You should fix your 3DS. That’s not normal xD

      • konsama

O_o Why are you breathing on it to start?

        • Skeptika Crediblus

          Well….

    • SolRevr

After owning both handhelds for awhile I would hands down buy anything multi-plat on the Vita. More than double the screen resolution and trophies make it a non-decision for me. I prefer the single screen horizontal slab layout to the clamshell design as well.

      • konsama

Yeah, thinking about it the better graphics and trophies might be a good stand out.

  • mockturtle

    Hooray, I can make a head-to-head comparison!

  • Greg

Nice! :) I would have pre order it by then though since I was waiting until mid march to pre order it.

  • Pyrofrost

    Psht….I don’t need this demo! :p
I got the game pre-ordered and fully paid for. I’m ready to walk into the store and pick it up on day one.

The ability to carry saves over to the full game is always a nice touch though.

  • TheExile285

Well this is an unexpected surprise. Nice~

  • Virevolte

I get that the european version will be released later, but what about the demo ?
Can we expect it in March 25th too ?

  • Zer0faith

Aw yeah two days before my b-day this will make a neat early b-day present.

  • Brimfyre

I’m done with Demos after Bravely Default. they just don’t give an accurate taste of the game. I almost canceled my preorder of BD after the demo.

Then I would have missed out on one of the best JRPGs of the modern age.

    • Atwa

You are the first guy I have seen that didn’t like the BD demo. Most people thought it excellent.

    • Pyrofrost

That is primarily why I never deal with demos anymore, and haven’t dealt with them for YEARS. The only reason I played the Bravely Default demo is because it allowed me to carry over towns people at start of the full game.

    • idrawrobots

What was so horrible about the Bravely Default demo?

      • Brimfyre

Nothing was wrong with the demo. It was a great demo. Taking the time to make a playable section of your game that doesn’t spoil the main game and gives you rewards for playing and carryover into the main game was a fantastic idea.

Demos just aren’t for me. People take things so personally.

    • KoRLumen

What was wrong with the demo? o_o

    • BlueTree

The irony here is that I’d say there was much more consideration put into Bravely Default’s demo than others.

And rather than use that as a strawman, I’ll just say that it’s worth noting that a demo isn’t supposed to give you an “accurate taste of the game”, that’s player expectation. The objective could just be to give the player a sample of the game, and games tend to ebb and flow and change as you play them.

With that being said, Bravely Default’s demo giving players a taste of “Here are a bunch of bosses and options and the need to level up, make sense of this because you’ll be doing that in the main game” is pretty damned accurate to what you do in the actual game.

      • Brimfyre

Take a breath and don’t take it so personally. I was just saying Demos aren’t for me. See my comment above. There is nothing wrong with the demo.

Though I have to point our your choice of semantics is rather confusing. You tell me that it isn’t a demo’s job to give me a “taste of the game” but it is to give a “sample of the game” what is the difference between a taste and a sample? I don’t really get where you are going with that.

The demo also completely leaves out any story and character interaction, which is the main crux of the game that helps break up the monotony of grinding and leveling the different jobs. The characters are the best part of BD imo, but I understand why they wouldn’t want to spoil that in a demo.

Again, demos just aren’t for me.

        • BlueTree

I wasn’t insulted. But I am insulted at having to read your response. Just to make it absolutely clear, I also stopped reading your response when you said “Take a deep breath.” Get over yourself, if you want, and have a nice day.

          • theBridgeburner

Man, you’re the one who needs to get over yourself. There was nothing insulting in that response. Friggin’ people sometimes…

          • BlueTree

I’d love to see someone attempt to explain where things were “personal” in my original response that warranted a pretty insulting dismissal. But after seeing Brimfyre’s other responses, I’m pretty sure that’s intellectually bankrupt.

          • Brimfyre

Now I’m intellectually bankrupt. ha ha Stay classy BlueTree.

But seriously, you keep sidestepping the issue. What is the difference between a taste and a sample?

          • Pyrofrost

I’m on your side Brimfyre, not to worry! ^_^

While there is no difference between a taste and a sample in this context, I would absolutely love to see someone attempt to explain a difference xD

        • SolRevr

I understand what you are saying. Nintendo did attempt to sell the demo as a “sidestory” in the Nintendo Direct, and I was disappointed as well when there was no story. It was a good demo of the game systems, but felt like playing an MMO almost.

Once I read about what the carry over rewards were I stopped playing because it didn’t seem worth the time investment. Having streetpass villagers carry over is nice though.

One great demo recently was Toukiden on Vita. It is basically the first chunk of the game; story, items and all. You can import it into the full game and it keeps everything from your time tracked to your leveled items, story progression.

Another good one is Etrian Odyssey Untold demo on 3DS. Same as Toukiden, it is a chunk of the full game’s beginning that lets you import progress.

    • vileBrenman

Yeah the demo for bravely default was terrible compared to the actual game. The.actual game being a masterpiece in my opinion

      • idrawrobots

That is sort of the difference of seeing a panel from the Sistine Chapel and then seeing the whole Michelangelo masterpiece in person.

    • xXDGFXx

Honestly, I found the demo a waste of time after getting the full game. Nothing significant or appealing transfers; you get trinkets that aren’t all that great.

Also, I regret not preordering the CE, but not because it’s an amazing game. It’s average w/ an interesting story and setting, and great characters. The mechanics of the game are ok, but they’re not amazing. Outside the dungeons and and overworld, it’s pretty ugly in terms of IQ. Blurry and jaggy 2D towns/hubs aren’t very appealing. I’ve seen better for PS1 games. The main reason for regret is the soundtrack and artbook, but mostly the soundtrack. The composer for Sound Horizon… If there’s anything that motivates me to play, it’s the fact that I can collect jobs, and Ringabel.

      • Greg

You get extra villagers in the game that help aid in building your town faster from what I heard.

        • xXDGFXx

Not really. Those are streetpasses, w/o the streetpass. The amount of villagers I received was exactly the same as the amount of people I encountered. It made it even more disappointing since I was expecting the streetpasses to carry over, no matter how meaningless they are.

          • Brimfyre

Well there is a little trick to get 20 or 30 villagers in the game without needing spotpass. That was the most worthwhile part of the demo, and it was an exploit.

    • kthanxyousuck

I didn’t care for the BD demo either because it was repetitive and boring but it was also one of the most helpful demos in the wold because it kind of explained the battle system. For me demos are a lifesaver for games like this where you haven’t heard or seen much from it.

I usually only play demos on games I don’t know about. If it’s a game I know I already want, I don’t bother because it usually does nothing but spoil a part of the game.

  • Kolibri

Please, think about Europe Atlus !

    • r0gamer940

What’s Europe? there is only Japan and AMERICA!!!. (ps. this is coming from a person who was born in Romania). If I had the ability to put a Kappa I would do so

      • Kolibri

No problem man, well deseved considering what we get here… Still waiting for SMT 4 ! >_<

  • Spirit Macardi

I know pretty much nothing about this game, so I might as well try the demo. Could be fun.

  • vault2049

Been reading terrible and good thing about this game. Gotta try it for myself and decide if I’m getting it or not. Kudos for the demo.

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

Cool. We get to make babies early, and the save data carries over. =^_^=

  • artemisthemp

To bad neither machine support more than 1 account

  • Kornelious

  • Kumiko Akimoto

My vita is on the wonks right now but good thing i got a 3ds recently

  • DarkLight

But that’s the day my exams start 0.0′

  • Kaetsu

    Thank you Atlus!

  • Firion Hope

I can’t wait to try this out! Really glad its getting a demo. Also really glad that save carries over, thats awesome incentive to try demos out. HYPE!

  • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

yes another demo in the same style like Etrian Odyssey and Bravely Default.
Perfect fit for my 3DS. Though I will get both demo but only buy 3DS version.

  • buddyluv324

Looks like Polygon is at it once again going on their long-winded white-knighting campaing. This time they’re taking their aim on Conception 2. Looks like its business as usuall in the world of gaming journalism.-http://www.polygon.com/2014/3/5/5434708/the-bizarre-sensibilities-of-breeding-rpg-conception-2

    • Kaetsu

This is Dragon’s Crown all over again.

      • buddyluv324

I know right? It’s as if the likes of Polygon has yet to learn their lesson in posting up manufactured controversies on certain video games. You would think they’d realize that all of this false white-knighting on fictional female characters and such does nothing but put these niche games on a brighter spotlight….basically giving the game free advertisement.

Having said that, I will be downloading the demo and giving this game a try, controversy or no controversy. I did hear that the Japanese version was at least decent and that it was on top of the Japanese PSN list for a good while.

    • Kamakuma

That I couldn’t even read that article… Few sentences in made me want to toss my screen out the window X.x

Edit: I can only begin to imagine the articles about Akiba’s trip as well. V_V

  • Alex Webber

I hope if this does well we will get the first one I really liked the idea of the girls being based around the star signs. With a Monokuma cameo and Spike being on a roll recently I am sure this one will be a winner too.

  • Pandakids09 .

Now ill finally get a chance to play the 3DS version since ive already played the Vita one

  • leingod

    Demos are always welcome :D

  • RagingTiger44

    I guess I won’t be getting the Vita version…

  • laurenhiya21

    Man I probably shouldn’t of played the demo… I was really excited for the game before, but now I’m less sure if I would like it or not… Probably didn’t help that the 3DS demo felted like it was missing a bunch ;-;
