Something something Europe something discounts something SMT IV something something.

It was obligatory, move along, nothing to see here.

    • AndreasStalin

      Yes obligatory.

  • fairysun

Seriously, I think Atlus is the only company in 3DS gaming that want customers to buy their products. Nintendo, why u no follow Atlus’s footstep?

    • Thatguy

Maybe because they are selling well enough?

There is a reason, why Mario games still selling for full price. And people still buying them.

      • But that’s exactly why casual gamers are turning to smartphones and tablets; because Nintendo is not taking notes on how things have changed since last gen. A unified account between WiiU and 3DS, games tied to said account, sales every now and then if they don’t want to lower older games’ prices, eliminate region blocking, and having retro games slapped with a more logical pricing tag is not much to ask for. Fixing the problems they have in their hands currently is a sure way to turn their luck. Maybe then people will shut up about Nintendo jumping to iOS or Android.

        • Brion Valkerion

Your not wrong, hell even mario games on DS are still hovering around $30-40

        • Spirit Macardi

While I agree for the most part, the account system seems to be coming along seeing as Nintendo IDs now span both the Wii U and 3DS. This has already allowed for the sharing of store credit between the two, so I’d be honestly surprised if they aren’t planning more integration.

And in regards to VC pricing, these things don’t happen in a vacuum; I imagine the standard price is something agreed upon not only by Nintendo, but by the other companies whose titles are there. Since even with that standard price, every now and then you see a game sell for above that.

Even then though, are the prices really THAT bad? Lots of games there sell for cheaper than what you’d pay for a cartridge version (especially Earthbound), and you get the added benefits of built-in save states, Miiverse, and no risk of save battery failure.

          • HUmm regarding VC games, what I meant was they can’t compete with iOS games who are usually priced between .99 and 2.99. Here we have decade old games priced at 5 or 6$, which anybody can emulate for free (not pro emulation but give me a good reason why someone who can get them for free will pay premium for them?).I love love Ninty to pieces but they need to realise the market has changed whether they like it or not.
Regarding account sharing between WiiU and 3DS, I own two 3DS and can’t unify my wallet between then coz of the restriction imposed. This sucks badly for me and I’msure for a lot of people who own collector editions and such.
However I have faith. Maybe new blood in the company will drive a bit of evolution. But right now I don;t see the current leaders on top shaking their system.

        • sd28

lol at people will stop begging for nintendo stuff on other platforms

    • Anime10121

Because Nintendo NEVER lets its games go on sale :/ :(

      • dam4rus

Maybe in the US they don’t, but in Europe they had sale on Mario and Luigi Dream Team, Luigi’s Mansion 2, etc in the last few weeks. Only 20% off, but better, than nothing. It seems these days NoE is way ahead of NoA. Now we only need SMT4…

        • JMaster3000

          *cough*Rune Factory 4*cough*
          *cough*SMT IV*cough*

Yes, European 3DS owners are really lucky.
NoE really knows what we want, 3D MahJongg,Pinball 3D and 3D Game Collection.
          Much fun, Very cheap, wow.

          • dam4rus

Funny, because I just bought Virtue’s Last Reward at a 50% discount, AA5 at a 30% discount and was greatly tempted to buy Monster Hunter Hunter 3 at an 50% discount and they are pretty big names… I’m following the NA eShop releases and I barely saw anything worthwhile. AND a lot of game came out earlier in Europe, hell Xenoblade and Last Story wouldn’t even hit the US market, if not for NoE. I never was interested in Rune Factory and Persona Q looks seriously… well, dumb. Along with Dancing All Night, that game made me lose a LOT of respect for Atlus… What I love about Atlus, that they make mature games, not “Hatsune Miku P4 Edition” and Chibisona…

          • Monster Hunter Hunter sounds like a really cool game. I know it’s a typo, but I’m not kidding. It’s going to be a lot harder to sneak up on monster hunters than plain old monsters.

          • TrueDefault

Wait wait, I didn’t know Europe is not getting Persona Q?

      • Aaron K Stone

        They have… recently.

    • Noelemahc

Then why aren’t they selling their games in Europe?

    • Suicunesol

I think you have the wrong idea. Companies discount games when said games are NOT selling well…

Which says something about Nintendo games which rarely go on sale.

      • Wtv

Actually some companies do discount when that game is somewhat older and they want to sell a little more.

Imagine that you bought a 3DS 6 years after the release and will have to pay full price for every game that you want. It’s even worse that Nintendo don’t even make a price drop years after a game is released.

  • BitBoy

Is there an actual reason why SMTIV isn’t out yet in Europe? I really can’t understand why there’s such a massive delay, even in digital O.o

    • Arizato

Nope, nothing! Nintendo are keeping silent on it. But they confirmed that ATLUS is the publisher in EU.

      • dam4rus

wait what? they don’t have a European division… so we have to wait until they form it? then we should forget about the game altogether…

        • BitBoy

I think now would be a good time to set one up really. With SMT series being a pretty big hit in the states and the three new Persona games announced…in fact thinking about that, please set one up…I can see that we may be waiting for a lot of games in the future… DX

          • dam4rus

Well, there isn’t a big market for niché JRPGs in Europe sadly :/ Instead of setting up a European division they should seriously think about releasing their games on Steam or GoG… It would be a less risky move and PC gaming is becoming more popular every year, especially games designed with an old school mentality. It would make totally sense to release it on GoG.

        • Arizato

But they are already publishing Conception II in Europe. They confirmed that themselves. SMT IV will probably be digital in EU like Conception II will.

      • SMT

Do you happen to have a link of some sorts to this? I don’t recall any news about the game outside of that specific Nintendo direct where Nintendo announced that they’ll publish the game…
If Atlus is the publisher, that means digital download only, and if that’s true I don’t see why it’s taking so long.

      • Thatguy

That is some good way to say *lol, you will wait forever* for fans

        EU Atlus, ha

        • Arizato

Well, ATLUS are publishing Conception 2 in Europe, even though that will only be digital.

  • Alex Jarocki

Which Etrian Odyssey does everyone recommend if I have never played the series before?

    • Dragard Kaos

If you’ve never played the series before, maybe start off with Etrian Odyssey Untold. It’s a bit easier than EOIV. I highly recommend both games though.

      • Adrián Alucard

Is that true? EO IV was very easy compared to the first EO (the DS one)

I still haven’t played Untold (not released in Europe), but i was hoping it will be just like the first one :(

        • Dragard Kaos

It’s more balanced in a way. In the original EO, you could just use Defender + Immunize and you’d barely take any damage at all, so EOU is more difficult since that exploit was taken out.

The thing is, EOU’s Hard Mode is EO’s Normal Mode. So if you pick Hard Mode on EOU, it’ll be more difficult than EO since some exploits were fixed.

    • moogle.nine

Honestly I don’t think you could go wrong picking either one. Loved IV and what I’ve played of Untold so far…

    • Noelemahc

Untold is more beginner-friendly due to having a character-driven plot. You may want to start with that, then use Classic mode as a litmus test for whether you’ll enjoy the other games in the series.

  • konsama

lol i noticed this sale since last night. Bought EOU and loving it, thi stopped aplying the demo so long ago i forgot how grimoires worked. -_-

  • jsecula

i really like Code of Princess just wish it had more people playing online.

  • mojack411

Awwww hell yeah, time to snag my Millennium Girl finally!

  • Pedro Tavares

Dont say discounts, say discount in the US.

  • Why not just make it permanent? This is like the umpteenth time…

  • I love Atlus and their games and we all love a good sale, but this happens so much that it just might be easier if Atlus just did a permanent price drop on their games.

  • I’d really like to see miiverse communities for these games

    • darkfox1

I really thought the miiverse would be a lot more exspansive. Like I thought almost every game would have a community but as of right now the 3DS miiverse is REALLY scarce.

    • Quizler

Me too, I think it’s really weird that The only SMT community is Soul Hackers for Europe

  • WyattEpp

I keep thinking “Oh, Code of Princess has silly art, but might be good”, only to remember it doesn’t have a demo, so I just keep ignoring it.

  • jsecula

where the fuck did my comment go?!

  • new_tradition

Argh, I keep forgetting to buy a bigger sd card >.<

  • Ash_Riot

Remember when people said the Europeans wouldn’t have such a hard time waiting for Atlus games now that they’re owned by SEGA. Oh how I miss those wistful comments.

    • Pedro Tavares

True, I don’t really get it, Sega gets their games to us but apparently Atlus part of Sega still doesn’t give a crap about us lol if it isn’t Ghostlight or something we are out of luck.
