Square Enix Are Auctioning Final Fantasy X Art Off For Charity

By Ishaan . March 25, 2014 . 8:30am

Square Enix recently held a charity exhibition at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California, titled “The Art of Final Fantasy X/X-2,” with art director Yusuke Naora and producer Yoshinori Kitase were present at the event. Siliconera was at the event too and posted photos of the gallery here.

At the event, Naora performed a live art-demonstration, featuring Yuna and Tidus, which is being auctioned off for charity. He also took questions from the audience and Square Enix have shared a summarized video of this, which you can watch above.

Additionally, brand new art pieces by Naora, Isamu Kamikokuryo, Tetsuya Nomura and a special art panel signed by ten artists from Final Fantasy X are available for action, with proceeds benefitting Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts. You can view some of these pieces below. Bidding closes tomorrow, March 26th, at 11 pm.

The art Naora created at the event. No digital file exists, making it one-of-a-kind.

I certainly don’t have the luxury of having THAT spare cash for concept art, but it’s nice that it’s going to charity.

  • Taylor Greene

I got to see those pieces in person. I’d love to have one of those Nomura sketches.

  • Daniel Bui

I can only hope to reach the same level of artistry as Naora one day. This is the best I could achieve currently.

    • Nanaki

You have your style of art that’s easy on the eyes and, quite frankly, very well done! Kudos.

      • Daniel Bui

        Thank you. :)

    • Radprofile

Tidus face looks like it was done using Zell Dincht as reference, probably it have to do with the mouth.

The coloring part is kinda nice, just need to define some areas a bit more. ( there is a section between yuna and tidus that seem to be missing color ;P)

      • Daniel Bui

I actually didn’t use a reference when I was drawing this. But yeah, I do need to give more definition for some areas. Thanks for the critique!

        • Radprofile

Yup, keep working, practice is the key!

Remember, people. If you support FFX…

    You somehow make this happen:

    • Ronldbx6

lol I guess I already supported “This” by purchasing the FFX/X-2 HD Remaster. But it’s my first time playing game and I really like it. If they make another one, hopefully it will be good.

    • Barrylocke89

Well perhaps it’s high time that FFX fanfiction gets the love and attention it deserves :P

  • dragoon_slayer12

If I had loot, I’d get that one of a kind piece up top for my living room

  • Slickyslacker

I think they just told Kitase to get out there at the end for the sake of PR.

  • Ronldbx6

    The first one is beautiful.

  • Chee Yang

They deleted the file, but did he empty out the recycle bin?

  • 3PointDecoupage

Since when did paying hookers to dress up as Lightning count as a charity?

  • Your Face

Isamu Kamikokuryo’s artwork is so good!

  • Aoshi00

man, one of a kind, wish they would include this in the LE artbook for the HD game, so beautiful.. so is the soundtrack.. Uematsu really needs to be brought back to compose some pieces for the main numbered games (I don’t play the online MMOs).. other composers are good too, but you could still feel the moments in the game after so many years.. Nomura’s a good artist, but I love Kamikokuryo and Naora Yusuke too, their environments are so otherworldly..

It’s cool to see the long time fans asking so many questions regarding Spira and the characters.. not trying to knock 13, buy what would one ask about 13 :P
