Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd Coming To The West

By Ishaan . March 25, 2014 . 9:15am

Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd is coming to the west, Sega have announced. The game will be released this fall, for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

The game will contain 40 songs—36 of which can be seen in this video—as well as the return of Edit mode, which lets you create and share videos.

Additionally, Sega have confirmed that the game will be released at retail for both PS3 and Vita. More news on the game will be shared at E3 this year.

And we didn’t even have to harass them at every turn to get it! Is this the start of a more Western market friendly Sega?

…probably not, but still this is pretty awesome. Day one Vita for sure.

    • fireguardiancoty

No one should have to do that

  • Six

I am excite. Day one for both PS3 and Vita.

  • Herok♞

This is great news I bought the PS3 version of the first one, but I much rather have it on my Vita so this is beyond great news.

  • Josué

  • mingledorff

Got the first one on both Vita and PS3 Day 1. So Happy they are bringing over the second one as I’ve been seriously considering importing it if they didn’t. I don’t know what happened to SEGA recently but man, I love it.

  • LM009

where is mirai? i can import pdf2nd but 3 ds is region locked grr

    • pantsonadog

Exactly. I wish Sega would do something right for once…

      • xzeldax3

        Complainers everywhere.

    • Hope it is next one.

  • Grape Monet

Does this mean the first game was a success in the West?

    • Six

The press release on Sega’s blog definitely makes it sound that way. Given how little there was to localize, I doubt it took that much to make a profit.

      • xzeldax3

I think the main thing is music licensing, because we all know how crazy that is (especially when licensing out of the country of origin).

  • Boku

“the game will be released at retail for both PS3 and Vita.”
In which region(s), Sega? Don’t do this to me again.

I just got my delivery confirmation that the JP versions are on their way but by god I’ll buy them again down the line to support this. Just dont make me have to import from the US again.

  • Jesse

Well, that was quick. Guess bringing the first one over was worth it. ^^

  • Land of Green Pasture

I hope it’s only 30 for vita like her predecessor

    • nonscpo

      We can hope!

  • Masa

    Ew, more of this crap.
    Where is Yakuza?

    • Six

And the announcement wouldn’t be complete without bitter Yakuza fans.

      • Nanaki

Masa tends to be bitter given the opportunity, don’t mind her. She means well.

    • megaten666

I actually understand you, since I love Yakuza. Still, I like Miku games too, so…
SEGA! Couldn’t you just make both of us happy? :/

    • Freakmasta

      WHERE’S PSO2?!

      • Crimson_Cloud

Good question. I was patiently waiting but… it’s too quiet.

      • I totally agree, I’ve been waiting what seems like forever

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

Sega: We are the Yakuza………………………. of Miku

    • Brandonmkii

Yeah, how dare they localize things that will actually make them money!

    • Arcana Drill

Yeah a game which doesnt requires many effort in the translation (mainly just menus and other stuff) totally is the reason that yakuza series arent coming here, maybe isnt the fact that Yakuza series didnt sell to justify the localization costs,so yeah lets just hate this game!

    • Keiji Johnson

Actually, there’s a rumor going on that Atlus would be localizing Yakuza 5 instead of Sega.

  • Nanaki

    • CrimsonDX

This sums up my reaction perfectly

    • I couldn’t have said it any better!!

    • Suki

I know right! I almost want to cry being so happy! I already pre-ordered the Japanese Version but Sega is going to get my money two more times! I’m super excited!

  • Kai2591

lol and I just bought the previous one last week :)

    • Nanaki

So you are the reason why they’re releasing this one!! Thank you!!!!

      • Kai2591

        haha you’re welcome ;)

  • Nas

Awesome to see both getting released at the same time.

  • Muddied_Waters

Getting the dd version today whenever it’s up on the store and will buy hard copies for both the ps3 and vita when it comes out here in the west. Take my money.

  • Quizler

  • Derry Santoso

    Hell Yeeeeeeeaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

  • Firion Hope

  • Kotori Itsuka

I cannot describe my feelings right now….It’s kinda like this: HOLYMOTHEROFUNICORNRAINBOWCOOKIESWITHMILK!!!!

    • Milewide

      Sounds awesome!

Except for those with lactose intolerance.

      • Kotori Itsuka

at least I didn’t put in a lot of swearing…I know too many of those f*cking thin-goddammit

  • Firion Hope

    Well that was fast, yay!

  • Sangaz

Brilliant, no need to import. I f*cking love this series.

  • Pandakids09 .

This is amazing since Diva f just out over like 2 weeks ago and Diva f 2nd just came out in Japan a couple of days ago. Hoping this get a limited edition for the Vita and ps3

  • Roberto

if i buy this will sega localization Go! Go! 575

    • Renaldi Saputra

that game was new and even wasn’t successful in Japan
meanwhile Miku had big fanbase on the west since years ago
      I doubt

  • Raze

    This is suprising

But I already ordered the Japanese one…

And I don’t really feel any difficulty to understand the menu and all except edit mode which I am sure I will not use lol…

    Good move Sega…
Hope more good news come from them

    • pantsonadog

That happened to me with the first Diva F. This time I was like “I’m going to wait a couple months to see if they localize this one.” They announced it waayy more fast than I thought they would though.

  • Demeanor

Awesome news for non-importers and double-triple-quadruple dippers alike!
As for me, like hell I’m waiting until Fall! XD
Still 2 days plus courier time, c’mooooon!!! :D (ps3 version because dem 3D PVs)

  • Altritter

Just bought the Vita version and I’m having a blast, so this is welcome news.

  • xAtKx

Vita version imported and coming in a few days, will still pick up the PS3 version in the fall or both most likely.

  • pridesin

Man, my import copy for vita just shipped yesterday.

Well, I guess that I will get the U.S copy for PS3.

    • Naryoril

to be honest: it doesn’t really matter, does it? I mean, there is no story or character dialog at all, it’s just the menus and maybe some song titles.

      • pridesin

I want to support the U.S localization as much as possible, but do not want to buy same game again on same device.

  • MikelAL93

Hell yes! I loved Project Diva F, and I hope the game gets a physical release as well.

Here’s hoping I’ll pre-order my copy this time unlike last time (Though I was lucky enough to score a physical copy of the game)

  • nonscpo

It was nice of them to anounce the localization, would have been nicer to let us know that we were getting a physical release…just saying.

    • Risingrose

We are. They announced physical release for Vita and PS3 on Sega’s blog.

      • nonscpo

Really wow thanks now we just need the date and well all be set :)

  • Anewme…Again

    Awesome, i can’t wait.

  • Tinye

I’m so stoked on this! Can’t wait!

  • NeptuniasBeard

Good stuff Sega! Loved the first one. Now about that 3DS game…

  • Michael Richardson

Vita is hitting it out of the park this year with all of these localizations!

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    CONGRATS Vocaloid fans!

    now shhhh….we wait

    • alixraen

Miku! P-please put some clothes on! ((((;゜Д゜)))

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

  • Testsubject909

    And everybody rejoiced.

Come to me my retail version! Together, we shall rule over all Vocaloids and tickle them in private! Wait… no, no, that’s what I meant.

  • Zalin

I don’t see why this comes as a surprise. Sega announced that project dive 2 would come out in fall of this year back before the first game came out on the ps3.

  • Crimson_Cloud

Awesome, I was actually thinking of importing it as I couldn’t wait, but it’s gonna be sooner then expected. :)

  • Arcana Drill

Yes, moar Luka sexyness in my life!

  • Very nice =)

  • CozyAndWarm

Dang it Sega, where is Project Mirai 2

  • fireemblembeast

Yay I knew they wouldn’t disappoint us!! :D
I can’t wait to play Luka Luka Night Fever over and over and over

  • Sentsuizan_93

Name your date SEGA and my money is yours. ^_^

  • Rose Spinoza

Yay! Hope there’s more non-Miku songs this time around, but I’m still happy. It’s a fun game!

  • Yan Zhao

My vita’s game library can finally expand, haha.

  • Aristides

And just when all my hope in SEGA was about to vanish they go and do this :P I’m glad when they give me a reason to be a SEGA fanboy again =D

  • SirRichard

Will it be released at retail in Europe as well this time, or digital only again? Still going to support it, like, but I’d like it in a box.

    • The_Superior_Spider-Mon

Yes they confirmed. It will have a physical release in EU. (Hopefully with a manual)

      • SirRichard

That’s awesome news, now just to decide which platform I want it on.

      • Brandonmkii

What would you need a manual for? There really isn’t anything that needs explaining that isn’t explained in-game.

  • Andrew A

    I knew I shouldn’t have imported this…

  • artemisthemp

Looks like I will be playing with Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd this fall :)

  • Daniel Williams

glad that the vita version is coming out at the same time.

  • SupaPhly

    ohh nice!
    but I still want yakuza 5 ;_;
    sega pls

  • Blesmi

Nice for those who dont import. I on the other hand will be enjoying it come friday.

  • RagnoSaki

    This is great news. :3

  • TheSegaMan

No point in importing the Japanese version now :3. So happy!

  • Juan Manuel M. Suárez

Awesome, I’m glad Sega are giving HM a chance in the West~.

  • Fantastic

  • buddyluv324

Nice! Glad I held off importing!

  • Both Neptunia AND Miku? I’m soooo glad I held out on importing!

  • Kayriss Wins

Yup It’s a thing now, cultural differences (specifically Idol games being niche here in the states) won’t stop this idol’s rampage around the world GO MIKU!!!

  • konsama

Just wow, awesome news today, and im just getting the first one this week Dx.

  • cyberkinghardy

My previous game is japanese so it’s only natural to buy the 2nd one in japanese..cause I can’t import save if they’re different :))))

  • Arrngrim

Still excited and cannot WAIT for my JP copies to arrive via EMS! (~.~)/ I’m gonna Miku Miku the heck out of my Project Diva f HORI controller!

  • Ricardo C

I wasn’t expecting this to happen so soon but sure, name your date and tell us when the demo comes out Sega

  • Ric Vazquez

A retail version of mah waifu’s game is finally coming to the west, freaking hypetrain crushing everything in it’s way XD.

  • Wesley Kenneth Houpt Mattingly

Awesome news, now give us a sale on the PS3 and Vita versions of 1 :)

  • Nexus

Great news! That’s another rhythm game that I’ll be playing obsessively on my Vita.

    Now, about IA/VT Colorful…

  • > Paid for the JP ver today
    > See’s news… well shit…
Still going to get this one since it’s physical release for Europe too! (I hope)

  • TheLastBattalion

    YES! ^_^

  • Loli Summoner

Thanks sega! Vayn-san is very happy, here, have a cute miku.

  • H-Lo

    Just YES!!!!

  • Naryoril

I hope they have a feature to adjust video lag by comparing your button presses with the time when you should, like every other rhythm game. On the first one you had to set numbers manually, and even after trying a dozen settings i never felt like i really got it right.

If they don’t, i guess i’ll have to resort to the Vita version, but i’d really prefer the PS3 version because of the better sound (headphones vs home cinema set)

  • I’m so glad I didn’t import it, as I imported the last one and it got localized =?

  • NANAandLIZZYfanatic

Thanks Sega, now can we please have Yakuza 5 and/or Yakuza Restoration?

  • Bani Muhamad Iyad

Will this game be on English Language?

  • LDM

I cannot find any copies of the first one in any stores and the prices are inflated in online stores. I hope this one doesn’t become rare.

  • Clifford Michael

    Well I guess I’m double-dipping on THIS one too… My preorder is shipping… T_T

  • I was so happy that I kinda cried tears of absolute joy xD Call me lame but this is friggin awesome!

  • CirnoLakes

Hehehe, thank you SEGA! Keep localizing games!
