Square Enix Hid “Something” In The Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Soundtrack

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s official soundtrack has begun shipping, and Square Enix say they’ve hidden “something” within the OST.

Over on the Final Fantasy XIV development blog, Bayohne, a member of the game’s community team, teases: “From what I’m hearing…It seems that the soundtrack includes something else, something hidden away inside the data. We’ve gotten word that it’s locked and no one has figured out how to unlock it, but perhaps…perhaps using the name of the one from the ‘bridge’ would be the key to opening it? Hmm…I wonder!”

Perhaps someone that has more experience with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn can make more sense of the cryptic hint. It shouldn’t be long before we find out just what this hidden surprise is.

Additionally, initial copies of the Realm Reborn soundtrack also come with a bonus code for a new minion—”Wind-up Bahamut,” pictured above.

I hope it’s not a bomb. I hate fighting those things.

  • Malon

    Gilgamesh, show yourself!

  • Thatguy

    FF15 info?

    • http://www.siliconera.com/ Ishaan

      Unlikely.

      • Thatguy

I know, but a man can dream

  • MagiusNecros

There is supposedly a file called “Secret” and it has a password. The password becomes obvious once a Big Bridge is involved.

  • Neophoton

Hoping the inclusion of Battle on the Big Bridge means other tracks from 2.2 will be on the soundtrack! My copy shipped out yesterday and eagerly awaiting it to arrive.

I am actually severely intrigued about what that might be.
Programmers! Hackers! Whoever the heck can decipher technology! Get to work! >:V

    • God

The password of the file is something related to a bridge, the fact that they gave a hint means they want people without much experience with programming to be able to figure it out, since that is the case, it’s probably a word, to avoid confusion with the wording, so not more than 3 words… Any hacker worthy of the title could probably crack it in minutes… of course i know shit about hacking so this might all be just random bullshit.

        ._.
        well then.
That makes sense. I was just being completely silly, you didn’t have to offer such a well thought out answer but thank you anyway.. XD

        • God

If you come up with a great theory, and theres no one there to hear it, did you actually come up with it? While this was by no means a great theory, i think the principle is still valid. On a side note, Your name combined with your image was a severe hit to my feels about not having a TWEWY sequel aftear that cruel “New 7 Days” teaser…

            *shiver*
I had…… severe repercussions after the “reveal”
due to several million tons of hype imploding after a 10 second delay.
That was a dark, dark day.

          • God

No, that was an extremely happy day, we all lived on a yellow hype train, the sadness appeared gradually, first as buthurting about the delay in any kind of info, then into concern, then into sadness, then into sorrow, and then into absolute despair… There is however, a tiny ray of hope, that one day, SE will make a game with a gameplay and art reminiscent of TWEWY… Damnit now i’m clinically depressed again -_-…

  • Enma_Kozato

Maan, that wind-up bahamut is adorable, but I don’t want to purchase the OST just to get it.

  • Slickyslacker

But how do we render it?

    • Maria Garcia

      GIRUGAMESH

  • DanteJones

Play a certain song backwards and it summons Bahamut! Experience your very own realm reborn! :D

  • Masa

    better not be lightning!

    • Tinye

      I wouldn’t mind tbh… :D

  • Ty Austin

Let’s see here… One from the Bridge. Must be the fight with Gilgamesh from FFV… Gilgamesh is known as a King, like King Arthur, a knight of the round table… Knights of the round is a summon from FFVII… GUYS ITS A FFVII REMAKE!!!! kappa

  • Embryon

I bought the Blu-ray and I can confirm that the “secret” is a new arrangement of “Battle on the Big Bridge,” made specifically for FFXIV. There’s an encrypted .rar file that you unlock by typing in “Gilgamesh.” He appears in the game during the Hildibrand series of sidequests, and the latest patch features a battle against good ol’ Gilgy.

Between track 12 and 14 they recorded an apology… to fans of course. So it will only become available after purchase of a specific DLC. :P

  • Kalis Konig

Yeah I never even played The Final Fantasy they are referring to but once they said bridge I knew they meant Gilgamesh. The fanbase loves that guy so this is a pretty cool extra.

  • http://momentsreprieve.com/index/ Aushria

    Brigde = Gilgamesh.

He was teased months before the game was actually released, we’re bound to get an event with him fairly soon.

    • Time Sage

He’s confrimed to appear in the next patch. Hell he appeared for a split second in the last one

    • Knowles2

I wouldn’t be surprise if they have a whole story arc plan for him.

  • Time Sage

The one from the Bridge? Has to be Gilgamesh

  • Skeptika Crediblus

It’s a teaser for Final Fantasy VII HD for the PS4… and EVERY CHARACTER IS LIGHTNING!!!!
