And here I never even bothered to get all the badges. I just couldn’t get into it, despite it looking better than ever. :/

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

No drive? your not the only one. I got both X and Y, I completed Y but that was so I could get in to competitive battling. Other then that, this gen is far to …”eh..meh” The story was a step back compered to black and white , the game was far to easy and pretty much held your hands the whole way.

      • kaotron

The game WAS marketed for kids after all, but nintendo knowing how much their teen/adult fanbases have stuck around could’ve atleast added a difficulty setting.

You get EXP.share in the beginning of the game but now it’s an key item that gives everyone exp which is just baby broken..

        • ShawnOtakuSomething

it didn’t help that every one had about 3 to 4 pokemon ether lol. Yes I know its marketed for kids but I trouth after B/W the pregame plot, cast and evil team and difficulty was going to be better. eh I was wrong, I just hope in Z or whatever they fix the issues

          • kaotron

It’s marketed for kids but has a different fanbase just like COD where it’s marketed for 20-somethings but instead is mostly played by 10-14 year-olds.

COD doesnt make their game less violent for their prepubescent customers and pokemon doesnt make their game more mature/challenging for their adult fanbases since change is bad.

BTW, Pokemon Z jokes incoming! But honestly, I wouldn’t be that surprised if they made x&y 2(I always thought it was kinda cheap to sell a director’s cut(emerald/crystal) version a few years after but now they found out that selling two versions again would make more money).

          • ShawnOtakuSomething

Rumors did say they might star doing the same gen squeal thing* which would be a great idea but should be in another part of Kalos|france|*

          • kaotron

yeah, I never really played any of the director’s cut because I didnt like replaying the same game just for an extended post game..

    • kaotron

I liked the new 3d look but I honestly just played the game for old times sake and got a little tired at the e4.

Pokemon is one of nintendo’s insanely formulaic games that will probably never change.

and honestly, xy is probably my last poke game, I feel like I’ve out grown this series..

      • Nanaki

I can’t help but doubt this is your last game.

        • kaotron

tbh, I didnt even want to play xy all that much but I gave in to the hype(which is never good) for nostalgia. I expected something that I knew was never going to be there but I guess that’s what I deserved for falling for the hype train.

I know better now and promised myself that I wont care for future gens..

          • ShawnOtakuSomething

            daww guys we lost one

      • Aaron K Stone

        Nintendo doesn’t make Pokémon.

        • kaotron

yeah, yeah..it’s gamefreak I know, I know for some reason I always expect someone to correct that minor detail.

i just say nintendo since it’s more well known

    • subsamuel01

Same here, I’ve beaten every single Pokemon game, I mean all of them even the alternate versions but I wasn’t able to beat X. For some reason I got bored after the 7th gym and I just couldn’t get back into it.

  • urbanscholar

Pokemon, it’s not just a game it’s a force of nature.

    • J_Joestar

it WILL be nature when Nintendo finally gets into the genetics business!

      • Serge

        Soon…

  • Minos

    … It sold %50 more than Vita…

    • xavier axol

that it’s false, it may have sold probably more…

  • malek86

Uhm, at this rate, it might sell more than the DS games even.

I think the 3DS, even though it lost the casuals marketshare of the DS, has gained more in appreciation by players. A lot of non-mainstream genres tend to sell more than they did on DS despite the lower userbase.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    Impressive, Not really shocked ^_^

  • kaotron

So, Pokemon XY almost sold a dozen million, who would’ve thought that a game with an insanely large(and old) fanbase while hype-marketing this game almost a year in advanced would work that well.

  • http://epiclyamazing.wordpress.com/ AzureNova

In short, Pokemon = Money. lol

Just imagine what the next generation of Pokemon games will do lol

    • http://resettears.wordpress.com/ Reset Tears

Crystal Bawl Sez: Overall they’ll be almost exactly like the last several games in every way imaginable, but with more monsters to collect and slightly improved graphics.

      • http://www.ihasnowebsitez.com Satonaka CP-Four

Hence why I haven’t played a game to completion since the regular Gold/Silver. Fun times but like u mentioned: slight improvement in graphics and more mons to collect just isn’t doing it for me anymore.

WOuld like a revamped battle system but then it’d stop being Pokemon anymore…

        Oh the dilemma :/

        • xzeldax3

If you enjoyed G/S, you should definitely play the remake (HeartGold/SoulSilver). It was an amazing experience for me, mostly due to nostalgia.

      • otakumike

It’s what sells, gamers hardly ever embrace innovation like they say they will. This is why Pokemon, Monster Hunter, Call of Duty, Madden…this is why they all continue to sell while “innovative” games flop. *saw the most recent game theory video*

        • AkuLord3

Innovation is good and all, but what is important is fun which people found. Also that names you used as example…even if they feel the same with barely much a difference…Madden (or really most sports) don’t do shi…snapples at all to changed.

  • AuraGuyChris

It’s nice to see people play the games for the gameplay…

Because Game Freak totally boned the “story” in this one, except for that nice heartwarming one in the post-game.

    • ShawnOtakuSomething

EMMA story was the best part XD

      • AuraGuyChris

Oh yes, she was the best XY character hands-down. Better than Dancing Lard, Ginger, and Young Black Bianca whom I didn’t care for a bit.

    • Pinkemon

IMO it was disappointing in particular that the gym leaders went back to (for the most part) being gym robots after they were so involved with the plot in Black/White. Though in the end I enjoyed it anyway cause I decided to use some mons I never used before and the detailed competitive stuff is more accessible than ever.

      • AuraGuyChris

It was disappointing nearly everyone but maybe Korrina was a stereotype.

    • shuyai

since when does “story” matter in pokemon? i mean its basically just gym>new town>gym and the 4 dude > boss>end

      • AuraGuyChris

I sneezed and killed them all effortlessly which made me not care much about the gameplay until I took a shot at online battles where people know what they’re doing, unlike Gen V where the game gave us the terrors known as Elesa’s Emolga and the apron lady’s Watchog.

      • Pekola

Well, if we pretend Black and White don’t exist. And sometimes its not just story, if we’re being honest.

The characters are lacking lots of fleshing out. The lore is obscured for some reason and treated as some myth that doesn’t pertain the main narrative.

There is still so much they could squeeze out of Kalos. Like exploring the relationship between Xerneas and Yvetal and actually explaining in detail how Zygarde fits in and how Lysandre decided what he did other than ‘lol i want da butful world’

Honestly, his motives seem really dumb when contrasted against the world of Kalos and Pokemon. We don’t even see the possibility of poverty and bad living until -after- the game ends. And even then, it’s not even really given much focus. You don’t see resource hogging or people in extreme living conditions for Lysandre to even be justified.

    • Vash bane

i’m not that far yet who does it involve?

  • Josh Hanes

I swear the people just like to complain on the internet. These are easily the best Pokemon games to date and deserve another 12 million sales.

  • Freud_Hater

In other unsurprising news, the sky is definitely blue and the Titanic is confirmed to have indeed sunk at some point!

  • Sharkiller

    90% of sales from asia

  • C778

Solid but not the same numbers Diamond and Pearl did when they originally launched on DS.
