Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson Opening Movie Has Lots Of Red

By Ishaan . April 24, 2014 . 10:30am

Marvelous have shared the opening movie to Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson via Famitsu, and you can watch it below. (NSFW, naturally.)

As detailed in past reports, Senran Kagura 2 introduces two new characters to the game—Kagura and Naraku. Additionally, Murasame, Ikaruga’s older brother, is playable as well, provided you have save data from Senran Kagura Burst on you 3DS.

Senran Kagura 2 also includes co-op and tag-team modes. The game is slated for release on August 7th in Japan, and will receive a limited edition.

Kagura would really like YOU to buy this game.

Glad to see Rin and Daidouji… I’m a little curious how Rin can play a part in the story without at least temporarily going against the general aims of Hebijo but I’ll have to wait and see.

Loving the intro song and how they found spots for Kagura to have fun or be creepy in so many sequences. I can’t tell whether the logo for Kagura and Naraku’s school matches one that was introduced in Shinovi Versus or New Wave but nice to see we probably have a few more playable characters added (perhaps all of the shadowed characters are playable unique people too?).

I hope rock monsters (bland as it sounds) are included in the enemy types, of course with unique traits. The first game and to some extent Burst suffered from most enemies being in the same class and not behaving interestingly different ways.

Just got thinking, team transformations would be cool as well as shown in the intro if they could think up a good reason to do them at the same time, though I suppose the novelty of the concept is probably good enough reason to do so.

wish the anime was half as good as that opening

    • Shippoyasha

The anime was alright, but it was literally 10 episodes of training in a 12 episode show. Maybe a bit less training if the series gets an anime sequel.

    • Ialda

I really enjoyed the anime. As an addition to the games and, as such, aimed at a public of fans, it was pretty good.

  • I’m seeing 2 (or 3?) new characters alongside Naraku and Kagura. Maybe they’ll be part of a new team, after all?

    • British_Otaku

Definitely, but it is interesting that they decided to only highlight two of them so far even if they might have a more “final” version of the opening for when you unlock the characters or finish the game, sort of like how Gun X Sword (a great anime) changed the intro slightly to reflect deaths and reveals instead of spoiling a ton of stuff from the beginning.

      • Shippoyasha

Damn I miss Gun X Sword. And yeah, the way they put in the characters after their proper unveiling within the show was genius. A lot of guesses as to who the shadowy figures were. Good times.

  • planetofthemage

Now with more bewbs than an episode of Game of Thrones!

Actually, it always had more bewbs than Game of Thrones.

      ZA WARUDO!

It would be nice if it instead of just being a type of censorship which ties into a pitch black background, it was a hint to the game having parallel worlds or something… That would explain why Haruka would control the three other members of Homura’s gang to support Orochi… or possession of some sort…

I mean how can she both be BFFs with Hibari (and likely to be chasing around Kagura for being such a doll) and serving as an antagonist when serving something everyone knows is bad.

      • J_Joestar

Well it isn’t so much ZA WARUDO

  • Daniel Jeanbaptiste

I have SKB save data yay! I get 4 characters when it get localize.

    • British_Otaku

I’m pretty sure that Murasame is the only convinced character who is locked away by SKB save data or a 800 yen cost, even if the other male character was locked away it would only be two of them.

Kagura and Naraku are directly tied into the story of this game, Murasame doesn’t even have a cameo in the intro.

  • Tinye

Did anyone else watch this video and think, “Anime, I love you.” or is it just me?

    • Kornelious

Sames here friend, same here :)

    • Eric Harris

I think you were thinking “fanservice, I love you.”.

      • Tinye

        Lol! same difference, AMIRITE?!

    • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

      Yes, it truly was beautiful.

  • Kornelious

That was actually a pretty damn fine opening! :D
I never got burst (Mainly due to a lack of SD card space) But I should pick it up in hopes that this gets a localization :)

    • British_Otaku

I’m pretty sure Burst did well enough already for Shinovi Versus to stroll in for a localisation easily, though it is on a different platform, Shinovi Versus is probably likely to help future localisation of SK2 more than a few SKB copies sold at this point.

      I do recommend Burst though.

    • nonscpo

Yeah its worth picking up Burst even if just for Yomi :)

  • SaiyanJedi_Trunks

Damn gorgeous. So much plot to see.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    ……..*manly tears* that was gorgeous

    • fairysun

Manly tears? You don’t shed manly tears by watching that kind of intro video.

This is what manly tears look like.

      • ShawnOtakuSomething

“Its the power of boobies, babe.” Space Dandy

  • Prinny Dood

Dat music, da color, dem arses I want this game dood!

  • Kayriss Wins

Only in Japan can a little girl be so cute and so creepy at the same time.

    • nonscpo

True…true…the red color didnt help either…creepy

  • As stated many different times in different ways below, damn that was awesome =^_^=

  • Hinataharem

  • Seraph

    That theme’s really catchy.

  • Darkrise

    Dat life and hometown.

    • MrSirFeatherFang

      Best complemented with yandere!

  • Lynx

It looks more serious than the first game, going by the opening.

    I’m all for it.

  • Ric Vazquez

    And lots of oppai too

  • I’m hoping this will come over to the west, Senran Kagura Burst is one of the few games I dust my 3DS off for,

though saying the vita version was better =P
