Soulcalibur: Lost Swords Launch Delayed Due To Technical Issues

By Ishaan . April 24, 2014 . 1:30pm

Soulcalibur: Lost Swords, a free-to-play Soulcalibur game with micro-transactions, was supposed to launch on PlayStation 3 this week, but the game has run into technical difficulties. In an update to their Facebook page, Namco have addressed the issue.

Hello North & South American SoulCalibur Fans,

BANDAI NAMCO Games America Inc. would like to express our appreciation for the excitement and passion that our SoulCalibur fans have displayed for SoulCalibur: Lost Swords. There is currently a technical issue that has delayed the launch of the game and we have been working through this issue all through last night and today to expedite the launch of SoulCalibur: Lost Swords.

We have discovered that the issue requires a resolution across multiple parties and therefore our efforts to remedy the issue is taking longer than anticipated. Currently we are working feverishly with a key partner to implement a solution in the shortest amount of time possible.

We know that this title has been highly anticipated by all of you and we ask for your patience and understanding as we work to get SoulCalibur: Lost Swords up and running as soon as possible. Thank you!

BANDAI NAMCO Games America Inc.

We’ll keep our eyes peeled for when Soulcalibur: Lost Swords is playable.

“We know that this title has been highly anticipated by all of you”…

    • …Yea. Didn’t even know it was a thing until now.

      • Hector Velar

yeah single player free to play/ pay2win or pay for all content…. yeah right, I have considered this series dead since they announced this abomination. about the technical difficulties…yup, here we go.

  • z_merquise

Eh. That sucks. And I’m not even excited nor am I looking forward to play it.

  • NintendoPSXTheSecond

Anticipated huh? How about Soul Calibur VI more close to the SCIV system huh? HUH?

    • DoctorButler

We must never speak of IV again.

      • NintendoPSXTheSecond

Why? It’s tons better than V is.

        • ffboi7

If they have to go back to any system go back to SCII

          • Setsu Oh

            SOUL EDGE!!!

        • Death Metal

V is much better. It’s much more playable and likeable.

          • Tonton Ramos

But it has no Talim, Zasalamel, Yeong Seong and Setsuka…

          • Narrator 1

Bamco’s generally not very nice to their women during time skips in their numbered story-heavy games. Take Tekken, for example.

Did you like a female character in T1 or T2? If they can’t contrive a way to keep her young and pretty (see: Nina and Anna, or more relevant to the topic, Ivy from SC), enjoy playing as her daughter or protege with an identical fighting style. And that’s if she isn’t deleted from the roster entirely and inexplicably.

That’s my take on why Talim and Seong Mina didn’t show up and why Taki and Sophitia got switched out for newer models. The noninclusion of Zasalamel and Yun-Seong defies that explanation though admittedly, Zasalamel especially as he’s immortal.

          • Death Metal

From that bunch, I do miss Setsuka, but it’s not like IV is better because they are there.

  • DoctorButler

    ftp single-player Soul Calibur. Joy.

  • OrangeArmy

I was honestly interested in playing it and still am, but I got every error code from 0001 to 9999 trying to connect, that is some messed up stuff right now.

  • KnifeAndFork

Bamco is full of crap. The Japanese version has the same issues since its Feb 6th release. It’s just Westerners are more vocal about calling them out on it…

  • Callonia

Technical issues: Clothes really break off resulting into nude fighters with no underwear and we are undertaking emergency measures to fix this.

  • Tinye

I’m just glad a company will not release a game when they said they would because it’s not playable. Like thank you for sucking it up and delaying it. seriously

  • Nogib

Now if only they had made the game so it didn’t require an internet connection to even start. That just makes WAY too much sense.

  • I called them out ever since I did a playthrough of this game and never got to finish all of the quest of the “Error” And that was in Japan ever since the quest for that wedding dress thing started, but I guess THEY NA BandaiNamco NEVER even bothered to listen nor test that the japanese version had the same error too.

  • Tenabrus

hey guys there’s this game called Soul Calibur 5 which has much more stuff in it than this!

  • Weird Al Yankovic

Only wanted to try Taki out. But between the errors (if it’s not 1098 it’s 2005), the looooooooooooong loading times, and the BS that comes with playing against an AI that auto counters everything you do I don’t know about this anymore.

  • Sentsuizan_93

To be fair, I kept getting error code 2005 because of the servers. Kept being sent to the title screen. Not very pleasant… :/

  • Blackburn7

Trust me, even if it worked, it wouldn’t be much better. I played the Japanese and European version and the game’s loading times are out of this world. Want to go to the Mission select screen? 20 seconds of loading and waiting. Picked a mission? 20 more seconds. Finished the mission?
You guessed right, 20 more seconds of your life wasted. Going back to the main menu ? That’ll be another 20 seconds. Open the character Editor? It goes on and on, I literally spend more time waiting for this game to load than actually playing it, it’s a disaster.

  • Yan Zhao

I downloaded this and tried it out for the lolz since it was free, and after sitting through over 20 seconds of loading screen for EVERY SCREEN TRANSITION in the menu, I’ve had enough and shut it off.

This alone makes the game almost unplayable. How the hell did NamcoBandai pull off something like this?
