  • Sapitntapit

Dayummm this game is looking good!

    • DAT Bird From DAT Cage

      lol $30 price tag
so its only worth $30 in terms of quality?

      • God

It maybe $30 on amazon, but it’s $63 on play-asia, so who knows?

      • Syde Tokai

i have faith in the god eater creators to make a great hunting game.

      • Julio D. Zulkarnain

If we judge a game’s quality by it’s price tag, then every $60 priced game should be an AAA godsend, rite?

      • Alter

you hit your head or something ? it’s around 6500 yen in retail price, while DL version is 5800 yen (compare it to 3900 yen soul sacrifice delta)

        • tubers

Amazon JP has had FW for ~5K yen for a long while now.

  • Chris Yuen

Glad the trailer has gotten more attention by various sites after I started sharing it! (

  • RawrWata

I wonder if this means they’ll just be using the Japanese voice actors and subbing the game entirely.

    • TheExile285

I don’t think so. Its worth noting this trailer is from PlayStation Asia’s YT channel

      • Firekitty

Aah, I was wondering about that. Was thinking that the fact that the seiyuu are actually named in the character introductions made it seem like they might be keeping them…

Well, here’s hoping, anyway…it’d be a crying shame to lose a cast like that.

        • Thatguy

          Dual audio for everybody!

Or at least – free DLC.

          • Firekitty

That would also be acceptable. Hell, I’d even be willing to pay a couple of dollars for it, if costs were somehow an obstacle.

  • AnotherVistor02

This game was sounding better and better as Japanese trailers came out.
Now its sounding better and better as English trailers come out.
Just wish that there can be a definite release date for this game so I can prepare my wallet….
Its a hard hit to the vita players’ wallet this year XD

  • Tincho Kudos

    • MyBodyIsReady

And you can’t even get it on amazon uk *Sigh*

    • nonscpo

Is it just me or is it scary/concerning that the game is only $29.99 What does that mean, will the game not be dubbed or is it short on content like Metal Gear?

      • michel

Don’t know, but I think that it’s just a marketing decision by Sony to maximize sales by sacrificing some profit per unit.

        • God

Sony? Sacrificing profit? Yeah right, odds are it’s just a very short game.

          • Firekitty

…You do know that this is the company that sold the PS3 at a major loss for the first…two or so years of its production, just to get units out there, right?

          • God

you do know it was extremely expensive at launch, right?

          • Firekitty

Yes, however, that expensive price was, at launch, less than the cost of the componants used in producing it.

          • God

I really doubt the components where more expensive than 300.000 (aprox, i’m fairly certain it was a little more expensive) chilean pesos, wich would be about 540 U.S dollars.

          • darke

Do not underestimate the cost of bluray drives at the time; they were *obscenely* expensive, the PS3 was the cheapest BD player out there at release and for ages afterwards. Here’s one summary linked from the wiki page where it was estimated the cost was $800:

          • Senka

If that picture is true, then damn… no wonder Sony banked so hard on marketing the Blu-ray part of it. I wonder how PlayStation would have turned out if they just didn’t bother to include it at all.

          • darke

Sony was basically giving everyone who bought a PS3 a bluray drive for free, so they could win the BD vs HD DVD wars:

If MS had provided a HD DVD by default with the 360 the format might have had a chance. Bt basically it lost, in my opinion simply because enough people bought PS3s that there were simply more bluray drives out there, so more BD movies were bought/rented, and so HD DVD lost.

        • nonscpo

I have to agree with God, the only way it makes cense is if its a Heavy DLC content game like Firekitty proposed.

      • Firekitty

Budget price AND I get to hear that cast? one can only hope.

content-wise, I’m betting this is the sort of title that’s going to have a LOT of DLC to buy….

        • nonscpo

CRAP I never even considered a DLC heavy game :(

          • Firekitty

Isn’t that usually the way for this sort of title? I’ll admit I’m not familiar with the genre, but I assumed it was similar to Soul Sacrifice, which seems to have had at least one new piece of paid DLC up every month since it came out.

          • nonscpo

Monster hunting games do have lots of DLC but its usually free DLC. I don’t know how paid DLC works in the west, when I’m online playing Toukiden I have a difficult time finding people who want to play the free DLC missions.

        • neogeno

Yeah that $30 price tag does seem a bit suspicious.

    • Land of Green Pasture

dem release date hurts… it’s as good as 2015…

    • Alter

well, they could change it anytime.

  • Kornelious

Haha Awesome I can’t wait! Also i wonder if they plan to dub the game or if they’re just gonna sub it, I guess it depends on who’s localizing it……So who’s localizing it? lol

    • Steven Higgins

According to the very first trailer, it’s a first-party title so SCEA will likely handle the localization.

      • DarkLight

um,first person?(lol)You mean first party right?

        • Steven Higgins

          Yes I do

  • Valtiel Ikari

    MY BODY IS 100% READY!!!

  • AlphaSixNine

Makes me hopeful the Asia release will have English subtitles…. I mean… what’s the point of subtitling this trailer to English if you’re just going to release it with Chiniese/Korean subtitles.

    • Steven Higgins

To get the NA audience hyped for the already confirmed but not yet in development localized version? Maybe not in this case but if you plan to localize a game in English but haven’t begun translating it I’d say doing something like this is a good idea.

  • Greenmon

So rescuing a girl is kinda a big part of this game?
All in. As if I wasn’t hyped enough already with the Japanese trailers!

  • Earthjolly

Don’t tell me its a silent protagonist

    • Steven Higgins

Usually, when you can choose you character’s gender, it means they’re silent. Plus you can adjust the voice so so it’s eve more likely that he./she will only shout out a few battle lines.
It’s easier quicker and more cost-effective to just have him/her say some battle lines that to record 100s of lines dozens of times with different voices. Unfortunately, the more customizable a character is, the harder it is to have them speaking in cut-scenes

      • 하세요

Only games I know that went out of their way to do something like that are Mass Effect and Saints Row.

    • Maybe the silent protagonist will be like God Eater Brust with one line in it all.

  • Sweet, my ram horned waifu seems to have a key role

  • planetofthemage

There are some weird English mistakes… are we sure this is official?

    • 하세요

Seeing how this is for Hong Kong, I doubt they even need perfect English translations.

  • Is this game coming out soonish? Seems like alot of Tales and Freedom Wars vids…

    • Vash bane

officially we don’t know but some gaming sites list it as a end of the year title

      • I’m gonna try to get this back to back with Tales of Hearts then. Thanks.

    • tubers

JPN and ASN will have the same release/very close release date on June.. this is from PlaystationAsia YT channel.

NA/EU don’t have a specific month of release but it’s slated for 2014.

      • I thought this was out in JPN already and now they were just spreading it thru the rest of Asia.

        • tubers

  • Vash bane

now with this trailer I am now officially curious of the lady in black ( who I sort of mistaken for kat a little lol) she has that ren atmosphere about her.

and abel….I’m really hoping you can party with him and not just him even tho we know little of his personality he seems like the character i’ll like (mc move over)

    “picks up drink”

here’s to bringing back the feelings of GEB

  • Kotori Itsuka

Holy mother of unicorn, this….this…..I need this

  • Somebodyissilent

Oh man those sweet anime style cut-scenes are amazing looking.

  • xavier axol

i really like the new abductor, it looks very familiar ;)

    • Looks like a Zoids. lol This will be a great fight.

    • Jazlynn Lim

I wonder if this means we’ll get all four of the Four Symbols; the White Tiger, Azure Dragon, Vermillion Bird, and Black Turtle?

      • tubers

We’ll, we already have a dragon.. but it ain’t blue (Azure?)

        No birds or turtles yet.

    • tubers

Watch it in motion (SD quality):

      • Alter

no wonder, it’s from nico livestream event..
there will be no HD version unless Sony themselves upped these videos to youtube.

    • God

      You ungrateful bastard…

  • Genjo

Freedom Wars given me VERY good reason to get Vita!?!?! i fell in love with the game when i first seen the announcement trailer <3

  • Clairis Cannon

  • Firekitty

Sooooo I’m thinking two things here.

    1. With THAT cast, I will be very disappointed if we don’t get to keep the original voices.

    2. If they bothered actually giving the names of the Japanese voice actors in an English-translated trailer, the probability that the Japanese voices are gonna make it into the Western release is pretty high.

    Thoughts, anyone?

    • Ya I understand what you mean but sometimes they don’t give subs for some of the things the Npcs say during fights. That’s why I hope it has both English and Japaneses voices.

      • Firekitty

Doesn’t matter to me, stuff like that is rarely important, and I can understand enough Japanese to follow a line here or there.

I’d be perfectly fine with dual audio, though; I (probably) wouldn’t use the English voices, but everyone deserves to get what they like, right?

Of course, if they cast Crispin Freeman as Abel, I’d be pretty tempted…

        • lol I love the voices for this game I do hope we get them too. Plus I hope we get any upcoming support and dlc.

      • Kronos

    • Senka

The name of the Youtube channel for this video is PlayStationAsia (which explains the minor Engrish). That’s worrying to me because it’s more likely other Asian countries could get Japanese audio than the rest of the world. It’s just how it seems to be.

      • Firekitty

Well, I guess I’d be okay with that, so long as at least one of those Asian countries gets English subtitles to go with that Japanese audio? It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve imported a game for that reason.

Though I’d really, really prefer to support the US release, of course, so here’s hoping.

        • Senka

I have to agree. If the English doesn’t get any worse than this, it’d be enough for me.

Also, I don’t know if Japanese VA contracts are less restrictive for other Asian countries. I was just assuming that, so I basically made it up.

          • darke

It was probably just a rush translation without QC just to get the video out there. And yeah, when dealing with ESL they’ll likely not likely notice the errors.

          • Firekitty

XD Reminds me of the ‘Hong Kong DVD’ anime bootlegs you used to be able to get off Ebay in the early 00’s. They had the most beautiful packaging, but the translations were incomprehensible about half the time (and that was IF they hadn’t managed to, say, switch the subs for episode 4 with episode 7’s or something).

          • M’iau M’iaut

I always preferred Singaporean dubs/subs :P. There was a bit of a market back in those days too, since by Singaporean law, a dub or sub was required — and a few things got done there which never came stateside.

The dubs usually sounded like language students reading from a script in class. But that didn’t stop US companies from using them sometimes if they were too cheap to find ‘Random Dude Off The Street #14’ for their production.

  • Kaetsu

How does Japan Studios/Sony usually deal with their dubs? I’m curious to know what kind of VAs could be brought on board.

    • TheExile285

For Soul Sacrifice, the main character voices were good but the side characters were hit or miss.

      • ^True Story

      • Kaetsu

I just looked at them and I don’t recognize any of them -_-

        • TheExile285

Well there weren’t any big names like Christina Vee if that’s what you mean but they fit the roles. Especially Magusar and Librom.

      • God

        I liked all the voices…

  • JustThisOne

v___v Ehhh, loop-hair girl really wants us to rescue Lily. Seems like a pretty fishy deal to me. Is Lily some kind of world-saving MacGuffin, and we have to turn her into the Feds for freedom or something?

  • MaximDualBlade

    too hot!

  • bananaking123

    monster hunter vs freedom wars

    • Lets not do that plz.

    • TheExile285

      • God

        • Kaetsu

We don’t need to create a war especially since Freedom Wars isn’t even out yet.

          • God

War is like ice cream, it’s always a good time for war!

          • bananaking123

seems like many vita fanboys can’t handle the fact that this game is going to be facing huge competition from mh4u/g. Either go in head first or get released much later.
Plus non of the hunting games on vita proved to be a match for mh, let’s hope this will not be a failure as well.

          • God

I haven’t played MH, and i don’t play many hunter games, but Soul Sacrifice was an awesome game! The gameplay was awesome, the soundtrack was excellent, and the plot… let’s just say feeladelphia saw a lot of the when i was playing that game.

          • tubers

IDK.. MH doesn’t seem to have real competition by being the only actual “heavy sim” -hunting experience and and more time consuming/content heavy/grind heavy. It seems like a very unique game.

FW is more of a close arena H&S-TPS hybrid game with PVP that’s more closer to instant gratification mechanics in comparison (no looting, skinning, long consumption, sharpening animations, “passive farming”, etc.).

I guess they’re only “direct competitors” when one focuses only with the presentation and impression of fighting large enemies and being more mission/quest based compared to other j/arpgs.

Not the perfect analogy but not all FPS are targeting the same audience; CoD in contrast to BioShock.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m betting Sony would definitely hope of getting as large of an install base like MH but I doubt they’ll get anywhere near close with this game.

The producer is aiming for a 1m sales (not sure if JPN/ASIA/Global/all/etc.) while Capcom expected 3-4m.

I’m not saying this game is no way trying to capitalize on MH’s success but that doesn’t even have to be strictly a very competitive scene of two products. More like commensalism.

    • Enju

We don’t need any of that.

      • bananaking123

yes, but it will come to that during the release. unless it gets released as stated, it will most definitely be dwarfed by mh4u/g.
Sales for this game won’t be looking very well if they place their product between 4g and 4u.

    • Alter

especially there’s no PvP in MH

  • Zer0faith

    Said every newborn ever.

  • Land of Green Pasture

  • DarkLight

Can’t wait and it’s retailing at only 29.99 on Amazon.

  • Roger

I missed an english release for E.X Troopers sooooo much., but aparently this game will fill that void.

    • 하세요

EX Troopers plays nothing like this game.

      • Roger

Do you have the inside scoop?

        • 하세요

I’ve seen gameplay of this and I own EX Troopers and I assure you they do not play the same at all. This is a hunting game whereas EX Troopers is a fast-paced third person shooter that occasionally fights big monsters. Most of the time you’re fighting against humanoids though.

          • Roger

Oh, I see. Really thought it was a hunting game as well.

    • tubers

Probably overflow that E.X. Trooper void cup.. This seems to do more than E.X.

      • Roger

Pretty much. I’ve been wanting to play a MH-esque with guns/futuristic setting for some time now, besides Gods Eater.

  • ShawnOtakuSomething

    Its so gorgeous

  • Enju

This is looking so good. Can’t wait for this game to come out!! :D

  • None of us will truly be free until Freedom Wars comes out lol

  • CervantesPR

they really have to release this in NA no later than july-early august. look at what happened to tearaway then it launched with the sharks.

  • neogeno

Been pretty bummed by the lack of God Eater 2 Localization news. I cant understand why they’ve been so quiet about it. This Freedom Wars/Panopticon news sure cheers me up though. :)

  • Kango234

I see a Vita in my future

  • Thatguy

    Wow, look at voice cast.

If English version will be without dual audio, i’ll start a *revolution*.

…And lol, Junichi Suwabe voiced Abel. It’s his 2nd Abel, i think? :D

  • Alter

as usual i’ll get jp version :3

  • Firion Hope

    This game looks so cool!

  • Muffinheadicus

It seems lacking in monster variety.
I have seen only two different opposing character models. I could grow incredibly bored with this. They need to release another trailer showing us proof of depth.
